He's a qualified accountant - but i don't know if he ever practiced and if he did it would have been for a short while- he went into academia in the 80s. Academia is different to practice, its all about teaching theory, research and publication - as opposed to practical application and skills.

I've met some brilliant academics in my field, but i wouldn't employ them over someone with 30 years first hand - hands on experience in the Field - there is a difference between, theory, teaching and research in academia and the practical application, experience, first hand problem solving, track record of success and skills in implementing that theory. I've been flabbergasted at times how high some academics have skills in the former and completely flummoxed by the latter - really shocked!

Not dissing the man or academics - they do what they do well and are required, nor am i saying we are well run, but i wouldn't be awed by the branding "academic" - that all bets are off and you just have to accept what he says without question.

The same applies to football pundits (ex players). They are a pundit for a reason - that they would make (or have made) a complete shambles as a coach/manager!

Not really - you’ve bored the life out of me already - there’s a difference between questioning the wisdom of someone writing something and attempting to surpress which I have categorically not done despite your weird interpretation.

Look through my posting history and you will see I want BK, DBB and FM out as much as you do and I absolutely believe that shining a light on their failures is the right thing to do……just not where the subject matter is a topic where we may get punished by the authorities. An observation or two on the cost of USM etc.

Such are fair value rules pertaining to Related Party and also now Associated Party Transactions that okay maybe can claim back a bit for the time factor but ultimately if Fair Value or close to it won't be a great loss in the medium term, perhaps even the short-medium ie the mid point between short and medium term.

The naming rights from USM is a loss but surely if it's Fair Value or close to it'll be quite replaceable anyway. The £30m in 2020 was a Naming Rights option/first refusal iirc. Sure I read there were some new ones lined up a while ago. Qatar Airways?
