Yeah, had a little look, never heard of him before or his band The Fall.

Not sure what hes got to do with an expert on football finance like our mate Kevin Maguire.

This wont work.

You need to destroy him with numbers.

Our last account showed the total loss of USM Sponsorship was roughly 40m a season, which we have now lost.

Plus 30m for naming rights every year, which makes it 70m, a year.

So 70m a year, which means in roughly 7 years we will have lost 500million.

Basic Maths @Damo_1878.

He talked as it it was past tense the "half a billion

You can only lose something you've already received it

You cannot lose something you are yet to receive @BullensRoad

You're just no longer going to receive it

Why hasn't "best in the business" Denise Barrett-Baxendale replaced that revenue ?

If she's so good?

We’ve lost our chance

Are you ok mate?

The reason we’re in the mud is due to the sanctions on our sugar daddy during the Ukraine war.

Lost about half a billion in sponsorship revenue. Don’t be manipulated by narcissists who are want to be Center stage

We didn't and haven't lost something that we have not received because it was future years.

We just will no longer receive it

Why has Baxendale not replaced it with revenue from alternative sources?

"Best in the business that is unquestionable" Bill Kenwright called her 🤷‍♂️

I've lectured for Universities mate and i think we can all agree i talk some amount of waffle. lol

I can tell you first hand that many academics don't know the first thing about common sense practical application of theory or have the day to day skills to implement it - honestly you'd be amazed and some are the biggest spoofers.

Also he's not working on behalf of the university as an academic he's freelancing, working for websites, radio shows and his own content creation for profit as Dave said its fair game to question his objectivity given his goal is financial remuneration. That not me saying we aren't a basket case, but when part of your livelihood is created by drama and clicks - well it does create questions around agenda and objective credibility. As i say hes doing it around the league.

Agreed on the ambulance chasing.

He's not a jobbing lecturer or stand-in post grad at a third rate FE/HE college getting some day release students through a first aid course.

He runs an MBA course specifically in football finance at a Russel group university.... which represents decades of studies and research into every aspect of the subject.

No one is saying that you cannot question his objectivity but to do that meaningfully, you have to contest any actual points he's made...... as far as I can see (I'm not an accountant), he only appears to be stating the blindingly obvious following the (delayed) release of our accounts, and our referral to an independent commission which followed the PL getting the accounts. These issues have been open to speculation for months/years.... we're an easy target for a reason.

was it 30 mill a year naming rights ? i thought it was a one off first refusal honest to god it gets worse and worse every time i read anything about our finances
Thats my memory too that it was a once off payment to get to the top of the list. I was surprised more wasn't made of it at the time as I don't think planning permission had even been granted when it was announced. For it to be 30M per year would be really bringing us under the microscope, with other clubs wanting to do it too (cough Spurs and RS cough) but none of them able to get what they think is a reasonable fee.

Hes a jobbing lecturer in the media space though mate isn't he - he's not working for the university in that sphere - hes free lancing or creating his own content for financial gain.

As i mentioned i'm not mocking the man - i merely pointed out the often gap between academia and application of theory into practice.

I dont think its terribly complicated to know how bad our financial situation is - my issue with him, is on speculation of points deductions etc that he has highlighted through his various reporting on our story - he can be the best academic in the world - but he cant predict the future particularly as its unprecedented and he doesn't have access to the clubs own data on the subject - just the clubs published accounts that doesn't tell the whole story. I also dont like that hes leaking interactions with the administration - 1) because even in the media space there is an ethical code in regard to sources, 2) because its for financial remuneration and 3) because the dynamic between the club and fans at the moment is a tinder box of pent up emotions that could ignite toxicity like we saw in January that undermines the club in a vital period of survival.

Yes, the £30m was a one-off payment for first dibs at naming rights.... the main point being that it was needed to help balance our FFP limit at the time. We were already sailing very close to the wind and the solution each time has been USM throwing cash at it. Sponsoring fresh air if necessary.
