It’s not akin to a civil claim either. It’s a private tribunal with its own rules. I do think it’s unethical for the Premier League to be asked its opinion on punishment (if they were) when liability hasn’t been determined. Surely the punishment should fit the findings of the tribunal.
it may end up in the civl legal system if we are given a sanction we disagreee with and it becomes a restriction of trade, I would assume then we could go into the civil system for a tort case

We’ve done nothing to warrant anything so extreme, it’ll all be clickbait nonsense until we finally get to hear the final verdict which will likely be a fine.

Plenty of tin foil hat reasons why the premier league want to get rid of us but here are some counterpoints:
We have a bigger fan base than any of our relegation rivals - more viewers
We have exceptional support - better for the EPL brand
We have an incredible new stadium next year - more documentary/cool video opportunities before the game
We attract more exciting players than our relegation rivals - better for brand
The Merseyside derby
The most played premier league fixture
The most games/seasons in the top flight
Premier league mainstay
Good ex pros to have in the studio (Campbell, Jagielka, Cahill, Osman often on atm)

We’re ‘kin Everton stop feeling sorry for ourselves

RS want us gone. RS media already starting to try and influence the outcome. RS tend to get what they want if they cry enough.

The disturbing thing for me is the leak of “ PL looking for severe punishment, up to12 matches.” Not a way a professional body should behave, does it mean :
a) There you go independent commission that’s our guide to what we want , we’ll be happy.
or
b) We know there’s no way they’ll be given a 12 point deduction but we can say to the other clubs “ Nothing to do with us guv, we tried 🤷‍♂️

Never before a verdict has been reached.

I have been on prosecution side for a Government Department in many cases in my civil service career.
there are odd occasions that this does happen, on cases where it is on the cusp of a sentence of imprisonment or not, the defence can ask for a direction as to the likely sentence if a guilty plea is entered (without prejudice), the prosecution then opine as to what kind of sentence they would submit for, and the judge can do likewise and give a direction as to how likely a gaol sentence may be. Granted these are quite rare but I witnesses one when I was observing for my studies. If the Judge gives a direction for non custodial a guilty plea is more likely to be entered and everyone is 'happy'.

I got the feeling that the premier league statement is more like an intimination tactic aimed to every club in the premier league. The decision is out of their hand so they can safely yell that "we would deduct 12 points!" They know that kind of punishment for 1 possible ffp breach is way over the top. In any case the premier league will come out looking like the are not afraid to punish harshly for ffp breaches, without actually doing anything.

And I'm pretty sure, that they wont punish City at all. After all they have already shown they can be harsh, no need for that again. In Citys case they will show they can be lenient.

The intependent comission will likely order a small fine for us IF there is any wrong doing, which I doubt.

In any case what the league is doing to us with this mental torture is a low, sadistic move.

I think it’s B. I also think it’s PL trying to put some form of boundaries on it because the rules state what punishments can be given, but not the lengths/amounts of the punishments.

They in a rock and hard place, they cant justify giving us a points deduction for one type of infringement. what the hell would they do with 100 plus from Man City, no way they will endanger their financial inflows

The alternative whereby we get penalty and Man city gets nothing would essentially ruin their reputation for life

Finding it harder than ever to care. The whole thing is a joke. Really wish the Super League had gone ahead, Just watched a Derby, with the big talking point being; why wasn't a second player sent off; when in fact, the game should have ended 11 v 11. Add in VAR, and at this level, it's just not the sport I know and love anymore. I mean, the Premier League never changed English Football for the better -no matter what they tell you- they made it richer, and the standard of the players in the league has obviously gone up, but it's all been at the expense of competitiveness.

Now we've allegedly broke some rules that were put in place to protect clubs from getting into financial difficulties, and the absolute twunts are considering wrecking community (the stadium, jobs etc) by effectively putting a club in the middle of a £700 million stadium build, in massive danger of going bust with an unprecedented and therefore somewhat arbitrary 12 point deduction?
