Financial Fair Play investigation

Weird thing about a possible 12 points point deduction for a possible technical infringement, is you only get a 9 point deduction for going into administration completely.

Seems reasonable…….
That's why the story from the Telegraph was bollocks.

It's inconceivable that any club would be deducted more points for going into administration than spending more than they were allowed to.

Is the BBC the only place on the planet that hasn’t even touched the “story” at all? Might be wrong but can’t see it anywhere. Page after page of BK tributes and anecdotes though. Either they are steering clear of made up tosh, or for once they have chosen to exercise some decency.

Know Al has his critics but there’s a theme of people who are likely to know the exact nature of the charge not believing the sanction could possibly be so harsh.

I listened to Bobble’s latest podcast and his comment was that he couldn’t say what it was about for legal reasons but he would be astonished if the punishment was so harsh for what we’re accused of.

TBH, I think that sort of reaction to the Telegraph article is a no-brainer anyway: no one with half a brain cell expects a 12 point deduction or that one is even being asked for.

But I think I detect from the sources you mention and the one I posted yesterday from a FAB member something more: a belief that sense will prevail here.

That’s very interesting. Thanks.

Social media awash with “cheats” accusations, would have been nice for the nature of the alleged charge to be public when they announced the independent hearing. Not like anyone could have done anything about it or prejudiced the findings.

We have made a Horlicks of spending quite obviously. But the world seems to have accepted the fact we were openly sharing financial info with PL when it was clear we were in a bit of a state. And that there was a period when we obviously had to get informal authorisation from the PL for any spending. Seems preposterous to me if the PL had not been content through all of this that we’d then go out and buy our 4th most expensive player ever, AND not sell Pickford which we could have done in any transfer window over the last few years.

His mate Benj has been saying for weeks that he thinks that it's likely to be some sort of suspended punishment, both of them are well in with Thelwell and co so I imagine they will have some idea of what's what but just can't say at the moment. What concerns me a bit is that if that is the case then the last thing we need right now is 777 with all their late payments and messing about as the authorities will be looking for anything to jump on.

I'm not expecting points deductions AT ALL.
It's not exactly a 100 / 1 outsider either, especially in a world were there is maybe a pre-desired outcome to conform to, due to wish to be seen to be doing something...but not too much.

The fact that we've been 'working' the PL might get us a suspended sentence

Why would the RS want us gone? We haven’t been a threat to them for decades and normally give them nailed on points every season

Other than them having some weirdo fans who would masturbate themselves into oblivion over our misery they would be pretty ambivalent about our status
Maybe, in the absence of Everton, fans (some) might start following the RS enabling them to sell more tat.

They have more close connections to the club than the majority if not all of these journos...

Stop the panic.

….the Telegraph source might be genuine or might be codswallop but it’s now the subject of high-profile reporting. If it’s codswallop, I’d expect the PL to say so.

Surely it's at least unprofessional to give the verdict before the hearing has been completed ? Everton would have a great case it this were true.

I think we’ll escape major punishment (doubt we will get a points reduction) for two reasons. One- City are involved. They can’t set precedent with us while City escape the hammer of justice. Two- the league itself is involved in our situation and Covid, the lost money from Usmanov will surely factor into the punishment. While our board is grossly incompetent (and deserve canning), a bunch of crazy stuff has happened in the meantime that has only exacerbated the situation. It’s not just a case of us being 300 mil in debt. It’s a disaster for not only us but the league for allowing it to get this bad. They could have stopped us and they didn’t.
