Financial Fair Play investigation

Can everybody with a persecution complex come back on this thread and hold their hands up and admit they were wrong when the final verdict is announced? I for one don't expect any points deduction and obviously I'll hold my hands up, should the need arise.
I find these self-indulgent comments slightly tiresome.

No offence, but ultimately none of us has a clue so you coming on and saying you do / don't expect x is no less or more self indulgent than someone saying they do or don't expect y. It's all total speculation so there's no point criticising people for speculating then doing it yourself.

Fair enough. But it's more the "They'll punish us then change the rules..." and all the other posts expressing similar conspiracy theory type opinions that I was really objecting to.

Similar thing with the "We're discriminated against with VAR". Sometimes mistakes happen, I think it's self-indulgent to think there's an agenda against us.

As other people have said; you get points deducted for going into administration, failure to pay wages etc. It would be unprecedented for a points deduction in our case. Hence the reason for my optimism.

Appreciate your measured and sensible response though.

Yeah I agree, I don't really buy conspiracy theories either, although I do understand them when there's such a lack of transparency. The lack of any clarity on any of it, to the extent we don't even know the details of the charge, fuels the view it's just a backroom stitch up.

Kind of similar with VAR in a way: it isn't stitching teams up and they aren't scripting outcomes, but at least pre-VAR you could see a ref out on the pitch making mistakes, but having a bunch of guys off-site having secret conversations and making the decisions (often still wrong ones) only fuels conspiracy theories more.

In both transparency would help because all the secrecy only fuels paranoia.

If
They do that I will sell my tent In the back and use it to take these goons to uefa!

This is true but unless new evidence is provided it is highly unlikely that a new commission will change the outcome from the first. To do so would mean the original decision has to be one that is on either end of the spectrum for them to really consider it. So if we got absolutely no punishment (if found guilty) or we got the full points deduction despite the mitigating factors.
I think we have grounds now to appeal any punishment. With the leak to the Telegraph around the PL wanting a harsh punishment, we could argue that it affected the outcome and even a soft punishment has been made harsher due to it. So then they have to form another independent board to review that.

It's not without precedence.
We were the club hardest hit with the European ban.
We had the first of only 2 players banned for diving even after the commission said that there was contact on Niasse.
We were the victims of a fixed champions league draw, the fact that Moyes said publicly that he believed that the draw was fixed and wasn't himself punished for saying that, as a punishment for Moyes would have led to an investigation.
Then the game itself V Viallareal was obviously fixed.
Then they changed the rules on champions league qualification.
Can't really blame people for thinking the worst.

There's surely some decent rumours knocking about now?

I said earlier that after the Palace game we'll be hearing loads of them.

Considering no one has had points deducted for it before, pretty much shows that anyone who views opposite is pretty much picking the negative for a reason.

I’m sure a fair few choose that option in the hope we do just to be proved right, same as the ones who guaranteed relegation for the past two years and we’re saying it will definitely happen this season too.
