Financial Fair Play investigation

I dare say they will be docked something like 30 points.
Season ending for half the league, but for them and their points total, would mean they most likely miss out on Europe. Whilst the panel can say they handed down the most severe penalty in Premier League history.

They have cheated over multiple seasons though. It would have to be more like 30 points a season for about ten seasons in a row!

On what basis is it unfair though mate? We’re literally the first to be punished under these rules. You’re basing your perception of fairness on an assumption of what will happen to City.

….I suppose only time will tell but when a number of clubs were intent on setting up their own European super league and received very little in terms of punishment, it sets a benchmark.

Yeah but they are BIG clubs, they rightly or wrongly mean a LOT to them but we are Everton and currently are no bigger than Wolves, Sheff Utd or Leicester and Leeds, they will just not be arsed.

We are the experimental club in the eyes the PL. No way would they go after City or Chelsea first, when the easy target is us.

Tell you what's a bigger story than titles, relegations etc.

A PL team building a new stadium but unable to afford it because they are relegated because of a points deduction.

Possibly a second interested party leaking dirt regularly up to the decision date, and hoping that 777 are booted in to touch by the PL. Forcing Moshiri's hand to reduce the purchase price?.........just a speculative thought!!

Will stick with my view that it will be a fine and a suspended six point deduction. All the talk so far of an immediate ten/twelve point deduction may be a disingenuous 'leak' to make us fear the worst so that when or if we do receive an immediate points deduction it will be more like six points and then we can all breathe a sigh of relief and be eternally grateful to the power brokers of the PL.

As an analogy, it's a bit like employees expecting an annual pay rise only for management to 'leak' that there isn't going to be one due to outside forces and then ultimately to come up with a sub-standard, below inflation rise which most employees will gladly accept and be appreciative and thankful for...doffs their caps to their esteemed owners for managing to somehow 'reward' the workforce when they didn't have to.

Is more about us being the first case that has gone this far and they will want to make a stand and make sure they look strong. They will want us guilty and if stories of -12 points or could be a fine transfer ban or whatever. I still think if guilty that it wont be points off will be a fine or another
I'm not saying every case will be treated the same.

I'm saying that there's no hidden agenda to relegate us.

I think the league probably is more protectionist about the very biggest clubs in the league.

But that same thinking would also say that the league wouldn't want to lose a club the size of Everton, either. Nor would they want to use us to set a precedent for punishment so severe that it'd annihilate Manchester City or Chelsea.

The Premier League want to see a competitive title race, as their previous CEO admitted.

Take City out of that equation and it's likely more competitive than ever.

In my opinion, the Premier League's current agenda is to maintain as much control as they can over the regulation of their clubs.

That agenda is best aided by setting a tone. Irresponsible, non sustainable spending needs punishment - the timing dictates that's now - and seemingly Everton have given an open goal.

Wolves come very close to 'doing an Everton last summer', and I suspect Nottingham Forest are in the same boat next summer.
Agree alot of clubs will be getting close to it leicester i think have money problems, will be more teams that will get done for this. All teams witbout european football will have problems without big sales. Is getting harder and harder to even be close now with how much the top teams make

And of course when clubs do desperately need to make sales to avoid points deductions it's the big clubs these rules are designed to protect waiting to take advantage.

Know your place, small fry.

Yeah because it is early with the rules and the new money from european football, it will take time but you can see what way it is going. Is why we have to adapt the way we sign players but as you say will be harder to refuse salea

so many people talking down about our status here. We might not be sky 6 darlings but in premier league status we’re a big club and very good for the premier league brand.

We are founders, ever present, historic, sell out home and away, make loads of noise in aways, have a historic ground, are getting a top class new stadium, have the Merseyside derby which they televise every time because of viewing figures.

Reading some of these comments you’d think we were Fulham with no history or fanbase. There isn’t a single team that the league/sky would want to replace us with in the championship because we bring viewers and create drama on the tv with passionate fans.
