Financial Fair Play investigation

Total nonsense on so many levels!

Whilst we might not be the force we once were we are still far bigger than each of those clubs.

They are all essentially Championship clubs that pop up to the Premier League for a few years.

We are one of only six teams that have competed in every single season in the Premier League. To say we are no bigger than Wolves, Sheff Utd or Leicester is laughable!
Again, quoting out of context. I refer you to the post just before. We are huge, we are great, but compared to the darlings of the premier league our ancient history doesnt count for that much. Forest were big, as were Leeds etc. They wouldnt give a toss about them either compared to the big boys.

Like I said, there's no club you can replace Everton with in the Championship that would increase the value of the Premier League product.

It's that simple.

There's no motive to relegate us.
The motive would be that they look like they are strong, fit and competent to stay in control of oversight / regulation of the PL. Nothing to do with an agenda specifically against Everton, we are just massively easy targets and will create minimum fuss for maximum value for the PL

The funny thing is, nobody actually knows what the breach is, 100%. People have said it’s for P&S I.e FFP and other people have said it’s a tax issue relating to loans on the new stadium. Either way, nobody actually knows.

Imagine it was the latter and it was just a simply accounting oversight and we have defended our position, no charge.

If it’s do to with our spending and losses over the last few years then surly the club say, ‘hold on, you knew we were close to the wire on this and you helped/signed off certain deals and transfers to keep us above board’. If I was Everton I would say that we had to sell Gordon and Richarlison to appease the figures but if we would of known we was going to get in trouble anyway we would of kept them and tried to sell them for more money later on.

But the point I’m making is that how can anyone say what the punishment should be for something that nobody knows what Everton actually did.

Didn't the Everton statement earlier in the year state it was P&S?

Totally agree , maybe one of the good things about the complete lack of transparancy is that no one really knows whats going on! I've thought to myself before that if its because of this issue about our loses and how much we claimed to do with COVID, surely the fact we've been working with the PL and selling assets like Richy and Gordon could then see is suing the PL if we get done for the losses anyway.

But like most of us, I'm just assuming were going to get shafted becuase thats what happens to us

Forest and Leeds where nowhere in comparison to us. Leeds came along for a few years and won a few trophy's under a cheat and Forest came along for a few years and won a few trophy's under a genius.

Yeah but they are BIG clubs, they rightly or wrongly mean a LOT to them but we are Everton and currently are no bigger than Wolves, Sheff Utd or Leicester and Leeds, they will just not be arsed.
Shef utd really how we similar?
We are in sort of a no-mans land really.

Nowhere near in touch with the elite 6 or 7 clubs but equally not comparable to clubs like Fulham or Crystal Palace.

If I had to categorise us presently, it would be with Villa and to a lesser degree, West Ham. I believe we are a bigger club than both, with bigger potential, but Villa are ahead of us at present and W Ham did win a pot last season. It might have been a third-rate one but it still does something for recognition.

The stadium will help us but it can only do so much. The product is on the pitch.

We live off our history but that becomes fainter and less sustainable with each year that passes, and each time another Newcastle or equivalent overtake us overnight.

Anytime this comes up, I'm reminded of a conversation I had with a French work colleague a couple of years ago. He isn't a big football fan but watches games occasionally. He honestly wasn't sure that Everton were a PL club. He knew we played against "big" teams, but thought they might have been cup games. He wasn't being smart. We are not relevant in the modern game. That's the reality.
Agree with you The club is behind atm but if run correctly we can get back up to villa ect. The others we will never be able to catch be europe should be the aim.

For the rest of the casual viewers yes. Not to us of course (again). Dont conflate what we think about us and what the rest of the world think about us.

E.g. if we were to go down, most casual Premier League viewers wouldnt give a toss, they wouldnt care if they watched Arsenal v Everton with their Sunday dinner or Arsenal v Leicester. No matter who has the best ancient history and no matter what Everton fans on an Everton forum think or know about our own club.

As many have said, were not “seen” as a big shiny, valuable club any more. Hopefully we soon will be, but currently most wouldnt give two hoots about us or our predicament.

Take it in context - we were talking about in the eyes of the premier league and general world football viewers of the televised games. Of course were BIG, but comparably, especially to the contextual breakaway six that preceded that statement, we are but small fish to them currently. You may not like that, but were not the huge draw of their fave top 6 or so teams at the moment. Save the odd televised derby. Sad but true.
My brother lives near Bristol. He says that people around there would bracket us with Southampton. People might not like it but that is how our stock has fallen. Hopefully the new stadium will change perceptions but not winning or competing for ages and with an old out of date stadium has taken its toll

So did the premier league's statement
"In accordance with Premier League Rule W.82.1, the Premier League confirms that it has today referred an alleged breach of the League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules by Everton Football Club to a Commission under Premier League Rule W.3.4. The assessment period for which it is alleged that the Club is in breach is the period ending Season 2021/22"

That really doesn't shed any light on it, but it's to do with P&S rules for sure.

That will explain why Ashton Gate was always quickly sold out when Bristol City had Everton in a cup game, Southampton, less so.
