Financial Fair Play investigation

The only logical punishment would be a transfer ban on recruitment as this would stop us over sending. If they fine us it won't help us turn around the losses, and a points deduction results in a loss of overall revenue for a lower position finish. Wait, it's Everton so we will mostly likey get all three and told to say sorry haha

But we're the evil ones right?

I live in Portsmouth and had to travel to Manchester and back for a 2 hour work meeting. So far, when traveling on the train, I have looked at this thread 2,587 times and still none the wiser what will happen 😆

We should’ve been relegated yesterday as per @Daveyduck,
then @davek took over, saying we‘d be relegated today.

He then provided a further update today, saying that we’ll be relegated by the end of the weekend and if not, by Monday at the latest.

Hope this clears things up for you.

Slightly off topic with our investigation, but with City and now Chelski being looked at, I wonder what the EPL will do with all the billions they have made over the years. After all, they have used dodgy money, have'nt they?

Thank you. Pleased I asked now. I would've hated to miss anything.

Exactly that. We made a glaringly obvious error and lacked the panache of the more creative accountants, to even try to cover it up adequately.

The case itself is open and shut. The punishment will only gain proper context if/when other guilty clubs are held to account down the line.
So open and shut it's taken them weeks of deliberation with no sign of a verdict?

If they did approve everything we did, there is no case to answer and the entire thing has been done at the behest of clubs looking for their pound of flesh on this.

I don't really think it's a matter of their approval or otherwise, more was the information provided to the PL in the course of gaining approval, for whatever, accurate, whole, and truthful?

If it wasn't, and the charge arose because that was discovered subsequently, then we are up the proverbial creek.
Even without knowing what the charge is what you've said is the only thing that makes any sense.

No one was planning to leave the prem.
They were planning to leave current euro competitions in favour of a closed shop European competition.
Doing so undermines the whole football pyramid where a team’s domestic success would no longer grant access to a prestigious European competition.

Edit: they were told (I think) that if they continued with plans, they would be kicked out of the prem - which was one of the reasons they backtracked.

I know that this isn't the thread for it, but I'm pretty sure that the rules don't prevent you from joining non FA sanctioned competitions, they just prevent you from doing so and remaining a member of the Premier League. The scab 6 thought they were too indispensable for the league and they could do what they wanted. In my honest opinion, at the very moment they announced that they had joined (which they did) with the other European clubs, they should have been removed from the competition while under review. But money, or something.

The ESL wasn't a FIFA sanctioned competition, and there was a risk that players could not play in both sanctioned and unsanctioned competitions. Basically, no international appearances or World Cup etc. That is what likely did for the ESL and will raise its head again once the powers that be have had their palms crossed with silver.

Is it? What is the actual case? Can you lay it out for me because I can't find any precise details anywhere.
That we made well in excess of the permitted losses, and that not all of that excess could be written off to COVID.

Evidently, the specific element of the losses in question for which we’re being charged relates to loans for the stadium.

It will all be revealed soon, I’m sure, but if we have the merest leg to stand on I’ll be shocked.

A fair point. I think there’s absolutely no question of financial impropriety.

I think - and it’s pure guesswork - that the issue lay in terms of the fact that the PL at one point signed off what we’d presented to them as ok, so to charge us with something that’d be plain as day to an every day auditor would be massive egg on their faces. With that in mind, they’ve had to Al Capone us with some kind of convoluted tax issue.
