Financial Fair Play investigation

Slightly off topic with our investigation, but with City and now Chelski being looked at, I wonder what the EPL will do with all the billions they have made over the years. After all, they have used dodgy money, have'nt they?
Chelsea have already admitted quilt and took a fine off FIFA,
over to you prem and FA.
It was the former owners , but if 777 took over surely we could say the same.
We ate quilt bit the board in place has gone.

We are in sort of a no-mans land really.

Nowhere near in touch with the elite 6 or 7 clubs but equally not comparable to clubs like Fulham or Crystal Palace.

If I had to categorise us presently, it would be with Villa and to a lesser degree, West Ham. I believe we are a bigger club than both, with bigger potential, but Villa are ahead of us at present and W Ham did win a pot last season. It might have been a third-rate one but it still does something for recognition.

The stadium will help us but it can only do so much. The product is on the pitch.

We live off our history but that becomes fainter and less sustainable with each year that passes, and each time another Newcastle or equivalent overtake us overnight.

Anytime this comes up, I'm reminded of a conversation I had with a French work colleague a couple of years ago. He isn't a big football fan but watches games occasionally. He honestly wasn't sure that Everton were a PL club. He knew we played against "big" teams, but thought they might have been cup games. He wasn't being smart. We are not relevant in the modern game. That's the reality.
Not sure your argument stands up.

He knows the square root of sod all about football but he is the measure of whether Everton are a big club.

I know a lot about football but would struggle to name a team in the French top league bar PSG and Toulouse. I only know about Toulouse because they played the RS last week. For example, I wouldn't know if St Etienne are in the top league. I could probably make a few educated guesses but I don't 100% know. To me, French football is a bit meh.

I'm not, BTW, saying that Everton are or are not relevant to anyone else. I don't really care. They're relevant to me and that's all I really care about. I am just questioning the example you offered.

The ESL wasn't a FIFA sanctioned competition, and there was a risk that players could not play in both sanctioned and unsanctioned competitions. Basically, no international appearances or World Cup etc. That is what likely did for the ESL and will raise its head again once the powers that be have had their palms crossed with silver.
It was the wrath of the fans that put a stop to it , initiated first by the Chelsea fans not wether playing in World cups etc.

Clubs dropped it like a hot potato once the fan protests gathered pace around the other Snake clubs.( Liverpool with their pathetic grovelling apology being the last )
It is the only reason why this ESL will never happen , it was a day the fans took back their sport.

Then the infamous saying was spawned

YOU CAN'T PUNISH THE FANS.

I just hope we get a similar slap on the wrist punishment if found guilty.

Other clubs have suffered the same issues mate.

Although I struggle to think of another example of a Gbamin at another club.

Bolasie is near enough to Gbamin too, 27 million plus wages for 29 appearances. Only could happen here.

Problem is we spent a load of cash before covid thinking the direction of travel in terms of transfer values and wages was always going up, then overnight values plummeted as suddenly every club was cash strapped, leaving us with a plethora of 100+k footballers whose new wages wouldn't be half of that anywhere else, bar the top 6 who wouldn't buy them anyhow.

We were wasteful and unprepared but had it been 10 years prior we probably could have recycled through those players without taking almost all of the hit. We got rich at the wrong time...Everton that.

Have we been found guilty of anything ? Reading through the pages it as if we have been found guilty and waiting for the verdict.

Mind you if we do get battered with a point deduction cannot wait to see what they do with city

The conspiratorial nonsense in this thread is making me cringe myself inside out.

There’s no conspiracy. There’s nothing in it for the PL to want to relegate us, as @allen has eloquently pointed out on numerous occasions.

We broke very clear rules. We weren’t clever enough to blag our way out of it. The consequences are coming.

The funny thing is, nobody actually knows what the breach is, 100%. People have said it’s for P&S I.e FFP and other people have said it’s a tax issue relating to loans on the new stadium. Either way, nobody actually knows.

Imagine it was the latter and it was just a simply accounting oversight and we have defended our position, no charge.

If it’s do to with our spending and losses over the last few years then surly the club say, ‘hold on, you knew we were close to the wire on this and you helped/signed off certain deals and transfers to keep us above board’. If I was Everton I would say that we had to sell Gordon and Richarlison to appease the figures but if we would of known we was going to get in trouble anyway we would of kept them and tried to sell them for more money later on.

But the point I’m making is that how can anyone say what the punishment should be for something that nobody knows what Everton actually did.
Can I refer you the post I quoted above your quoted post.

The Southampton comparison makes me laugh, 7 1/2 years on and they still haven't gotten over Koeman. More of the "Who the hell do Everton think they are?" attitude. In part, those fans and others make up a large portion of those who would just love a hefty punishment and/or relegation. There will always be clappers for others' misery.

Pain in the arse they were at the time. I still remember one angry Southampton fan asking Mick Channon on his(mainly horse racing) twitter account who were the bigger club.
Channon just replied. "Everton, by a long way"
The lad just disappeared 😂

Yep. I’d never rush to credit them with anything, but it was the Chelsea fans that killed the Super League. They kicked off and it started the chain reaction.

Total nonsense on so many levels!

Whilst we might not be the force we once were we are still far bigger than each of those clubs.

They are all essentially Championship clubs that pop up to the Premier League for a few years.

We are one of only six teams that have competed in every single season in the Premier League. To say we are no bigger than Wolves, Sheff Utd or Leicester is laughable!
I think the point is, we haven't acted like a big club for years.

We seldom send representatives to meetings outside of mandatory Premier League ones, we haven't sent anybody to a European Club Association meeting for several years.

We carry no more 'clout' than those so called smaller teams.

It's the result of being run in a totally amateurish fashion for the past 3 decades. Thankfully, the main person responsible for the policy of employing those who toe the party line over actually delivering results (off the pitch) has now departed this life.

The only thing I want from new owners is a goal and a clear strategy on how they plan to get there. Let us all in on the plan, some will disagree but at least it's a plan.

Denise boiled my piss with her headline grabbing "We're not only aiming for the Champions league, we're actively planning fir it!`

Clearly her plan was a massive steaming pile of turd, yet our recently departed chair described her as the best in the business. Laughable.

That's why to those at the top of the game, those calling the shots, view us as a small club. We have been smalltime for years. It's going to take years and years (and a bit of luck) to repair the damage that self promoting bellend caused.

As you seem to know can you clear it up for everyone. No one knows what rules we are assumed to have broken. We are accused we have refuted the accusations yet we are guilty. Thought the saying of innocent before being proved guilty still stood.

Just wait and see rather than speculate.............no one knows

Please explain what the specific rules are that relate to our charge and how we broke them
