Financial Fair Play investigation

Regardless of sanctions these rules are already making the 'competition' become unbalanced.

All but the protected revenue 6 will start having cyclical performance variations across rolling 3 year periods due to it being impossible to compete even at the lower end of the table with only being allowed to 'lose' 35m per year. Wage and transfer inflation mean that every 3rd or 4th year clubs will be hamstrung and not able to spend, maybe even have to sell an asset, as they skirt the 3-year figure and need to get a net zero or even profit year on the books.

We have seen it this year with ourselves and Leicester. Next year there will be others who have 2 years of loss on the books (no idea on thier actual position but maybe villa, Newcastle?) Then the following year it will be others (Forest, Leeds?).

This cycle will become the norm, and teams will be caught out and relegated. We are just the first to live this due to bad spending, bad timing and bad luck with covid and usm perfect storm.

FFP is precisely that heavily loaded towards the commercial rich top six, the rest of us are there just to make the numbers up, as a competition the premier league is over unless you are one of the top six, uproar against the super league, don't make me laugh it's already here. Even a few years ago you might have had a chance in the FA Cup/ League Cup, when the big clubs used to play their reserves, but their reserve teams now are better than practically the other 14 clubs first teams.

Now that you mention it mate i vaguely remember that - nothing cam of it. I vaguely remember something happening to Notts County as well but cant remember exactly - but also back in Div 1 days under the FA.
At the same time Spurs were ‘punished’ Swindon Town were also charged with financial irregularities and their promotion to the premier league was stopped and they were relegated 2 Divisions instead, this was reduced to one division on appeal. At the time it was farcical that Spurs had broken the rules far worse than Swindon yet it was obvious that they were happy to throw the book at the little club but not the big bad Spurs.

Looks like we are lumbered with Moshiri for the foreseeable.
Wether we like it or not , there'll be no sale , nor outside investment for a very long time.
He & he alone will have to fund the stadium ( he's worth atm $3.1 billion =£2.56 billion) depends how much more he wants to put up.
His 1st priority now is get rid of this board and employ real financial experts to make some sense of this mess.

Yesterday's kick in the nuts puts him in a position where's he's All in and subsequently wether we like it or not we are All in with him.

Oh what a circus, oh what a show.

The other thing is the appeals process - there isn't a pathway to refer this to CAS apparently, but there is an appeal process baked in, that could further delay this.

If we can push this out until deep in the summer all the better - funny thing is we prob are in profitability for this year.

Wonder what happens if we are relegated the PL can do nothing as they dont have jurisdiction. lol
The Football League will not hesitate to hammer us any way they can.

He's all in without Usmanov and with a financial mess that'll scare off any investors.
Gotta think Kenwright has some legal requirement to stay on as chair.

Surely the degree to which your losses exceed the allowed figure of 105 million will be relevant. Exceeding the 105 million pound figure by 500 million would be a far greater transgression than exceeding it by 50 million, for example.

Further, the reasons behind the losses need to be taken into account. Losses acquired as a result of world global events that are completely out of our control cannot be treated the same as losses that are generated by excessive transfer expenditure, for example.

So I think we are in a very good position when it comes to presenting our mitigating circumstances.

Firstly, I don’t expect the amount to which we have exceeded the 105 million to be very big by Premier League standards, especially when you take into account 10% inflation etc.

Secondly, there’s no doubting that the amendments to the Russia Sanctions Regulations that weren’t in place when the 105 million pound figure was agreed have had a massively adverse impact on our revenues. We may be able to argue that the degree to which we have exceeded the allowed losses is matched by our losses in revenue caused by sanctions against Russian businesses.

Thirdly, there is pure evidence of us trying our best to decrease our expenditure in recent years. Our net spend, and even actual spend has got to be amongst the lowest in the league over the last couple of years? Certainly amongst established PL clubs, it will be amongst the lowest!

It also needs to be made clear that Everton have absolutely nothing to do with Russia! Everton are an age old British sporting institution that is owned by a British-Iranian national, and the chairman is a well loved national treasure that used to star in Corenation Street, the nation’s favourite television programme!

So, in conclusion, I’d advise that we are given a £200,000 fine suspended for two years, and 250 hours community service for Bill Kenwright, who quite frankly should have known better than to allow these unfortunate series of events happen to a once proud and successful British institution.
