Financial Fair Play investigation

Erm no. No one comes anywhere near us for claimed Covid losses.

This alone is why I don't even have the energy to complain about the absurdity of the FFP rules. It's nobodies fault but our own. It's absurd in the extreme for our board to suggest that we had a £170m impact from Covid when the vast majority of other clubs were impacted by about £30-50m.

Deep down, every single blue knows that our club has well and truly bent the rules over the past few years - some won't admit that - but it's true. This day was coming and the only people to blame are those fraudsters at the top of our club. It's shameful.

Put yourself in the shoes of a Burnley fan though. If it’s shown we broke the P&S rules, they will understandably claim that we gained a sporting advantage.

in their opinion it’s probably a very different punishment that is suitable.
Which would amount to what? Everton being punished? Yes, I think we all acccept that. The issue would be what punishment.

It seems to me that the PL have compromised any case they have by handing Everton - and other clubs by the sounds of it - that our club was not running foul of their own rules, so how could Everton be punished severely?

Its becoming clearer, this is more about politics and power plays then any perceived offence. More convinced as this unravels there will be a soft landing, PL pawning us for a power play, so ultimately will wag a finger in my opinion, this may not even be about us, even if we have breached.

Some good points in that article, in particularly the question everyone is asking about what, if we've run all the accounts and every major transaction throughout the whole period, they can actually charge us with since any breach of the rules would have been overseen and approved by them - are they going to charge themselves?

Hopefully the club has a strong record of all communications with the league, because if they have approved our financial dealings I'm not sure how they can come back and punish us for them. Strange business.
The bottom line is that the PL have got themselves into a terrible mess with this.

They were told they were not subject to a sanction at the time (12 months ago), they weren’t given permission to break the rules for evermore.

The situation has changed since 12 months ago, and Everton have been given a different response. Makes sense.

The PL advised us we could buy players following no sanction in March.

To me that indicates this year's set of accounts redundant.

I've said since this broke yesterday that the real concern from all this should be how it affects our manager and players in the last 10 games.

We need to get 3 maybe 4 wins and then let this unwind.

Yes, me too. Something has changed the PL’s mind, though, and it can’t be a coincidence that it comes a couple of weeks after receiving our accounts.

Or its because they're up in front of the select committee this week trying to hold off a compulsory independent regulator.

They didn’t say knock yourself out and repeat your breach of P&S. It’s far more likely that Everton told the PL they had things in hand, and the latest accounts prove otherwise

Everton have been submitting financial information regularly to the club.

We were alright last year when Burnley and Leeds were acting up, we’ve a better manager this year to - so far he’s and this doesn’t get enough air play - he’s kept the whole board toxicity out of the dressing room - think and am confident he has this.

They KNEW what the next accounts would reveal and that the club would have to come into line for the following season to avoid further problems. That's what they did in conjunction with the PL.

I mean, it's laudable to run the rule over your own club and appeal for fairness, but youlre simply repeating an assertion about the PL's expectations that dont reflect reality.
