We're boss, we are going to win 1-0 away. You read it here first.

I am so excited about this game, with respect to all the european clubs we've faced so far under Moyes, this is the biggest of them and Florence is such a great city too.

But I hope the players dont show them too much respect and realise that Everton is a bigger club than them, so theres no reason for us to not believe we can secure a win in Florence and then bring them back to Goodison to win comfortably. Especially considering their best player, Mutu is out for both games.

i watched them vs roma, they are no great shakes..i dont think comparing them to beating juventus makes them any good, i think we would do juventus as well to be honest. they have little creativity.kroldrup will have no idea of what to do against aj and yak, i want 442 on thursday and i can see us coming away with a good result

Think we can safely say Moyes will be sticking to 4 5 1 with this one.

Which I think is a shame personally, I'd much prefer AJ and the Yak to be buzzing around giving old Per-shaped serious problems.

If we did go 4 4 2 then I really think AJ, Yak and Tiny would cause havoc, just can't see it happening.

I rarely enjoy games featuring italian teams, the cynical mindset they all have just winds me up and I end up screaming into cushions and breaking my hands punching the wall.

I predict 1 - 1 like everyone else. Timmy sneaking in late to give us a great shout of progressing.

2-2 draw, cahill and johnson the scorers, its not going to be a good match, they have a really good team, but i thinkwe can defend well against them, its the attack thats worrying me...

Going to be a fantastic spectacle, I cant call it. We will be matched in every area by this team, so do not underestimate them. Who knows what will happen? I think the Goodison return leg will be the more significant. Keep it tight over there and we have done half of the job. 1-1, I'd take that.

Re: Respecting the opposition. I don't agree with having a 'respectful' mindset. I think that you should give 100% effort against every single opponent, bottom or top of the league and try and beat them in every way. Yes, you should know your opponents inside-out, but 'respecting' them is different from being aware of their strengths in order to anticipate their actions. This also includes knowing the opponent's weaknesses, the gaps in their armour so that you can fully exploit these.
I'm not sure if you said we should respect them or not, either way i'm not having a go, this is just something I've been thinking about recently.

No I didn't say we should show them respect, jeez why dont you try reading my post before posting a comment on it! :D

The term 'respecting' the opposition is pretty much a modern polite way of saying how much the team intimidates another team, so its all very well and good saying teams shouldnt get intimidated, but thats part of the game, if we played Barcelona, then you can bet all your money that most our players would be intimidated, or "showing too much respect".

Its part of human psychology, you can say dont do it, its simply how you deal with it.

there are a variety of takes on 'respect' for the footballing opposition.

including but not exclusive to meaning that to respect them as a footballing side that can play, so as not to be complacent and expect to just turn up and win by default.

stuff respect, get over there an give them a good hiding, they have kroldrup as their maincentre half ffs.

I couldn't care less who we play at the moment. Let them worry about us. I'll bet Kroldrup is soiling himself after watching the video of the Yak Bulldozing Sol Campbell into the ground in a shoulder barge, his solid hold up play and shooting.
