I kinda hope
I think when he’s in a team that doesn’t have Harry Kane he’ll be appreciated much more. Foden steps on him a lot too. There’s balancing to do.
Team looked stodgy and unbalanced throughout. Zero threat down the left in the main until Shaw started playing or Eze got subbed on. Midfield lacked fluidity a lot of the time. Very little dynamism in attack.

Yeah, I have, earlier today. No reason to be catty mate x

What's any of England's strikers won ever then? Toney, Watkins, Bowen too if you'd like? And which one has scored the most goals for every team they've played at? And where does he not score, especially come finals (as in, the EURO/World Cup proper)? England is the common denominator.

Or is it club form, where Kane walks over all of those combined?

Like it or not Kane is the best striker in the England set up. Sadly you've got a manager bricking it at every opportunity when it matters and who's instructing strikers to never be where strikers should be - you've got a #9 defending every corner fgs, it's not just Kane, Watkins was the same just now, and had even fewer touches.

Anyway, it's "laugh at England" hour now, so I'm done with this topic cuz it's too serious really.
He has to be told to do his job though. If he’s not doing his job it doesn’t really matter how good he is.

And yes you can also find a way to put together a team that resembles his club sides more than this one does so he can do that job. There’s a debate to be had on the wisdom of that but if you do that then it is fine to have him playing like he plays. What England do though is set up to need a striker in a traditional sense and have Kane not do that.

A

interested to work out how Kane is the best striker in the England set up?

Whilst I understand the part that Southgate has, he is not instructing Kane to be where he is. That’s his play…. He is too slow and now not a play on the last defender striker. Easy to see.

To allow for the truly world class players like Foden and Bellingham to play he should be much higher up the pitch.

Easy
Yeah, a shocking coincidence that him and Watkins do the same and are back in the box for corners, considering Watkins is allegedly faster.

All down to Kane himself.

He's the best striker because he's the best striker.

Well yeah Trippier as LWB was really dumb and bad. Southgate has flaws. His ability to win games and keep the team in the right space mentally should not be underappreciated. It’s also time. See if you can get over the hump with a bit more aggression and desire to score goals.

Just remember it can also go the other way! Time to take the risk.

I don't mind Southgate as a type of DoF for England. He is not blinded by Manure, Arsenal, Chelsea Man city or Liverpool players in the sense of playing for them clubs guarantees a place in the team. He has looked beyond the so called top six to the benefit of the England team but he is not a great tactician to get the best out of those players.

Previous managers have been guilty at looking at 'ONLY' the so called top six teams for players without the hindsight of realising that they may look better than what they really are. I believe Southgate has looked beyond that. He has been a good judge of player despite who they play for and that is why he has got us to the finals of the last 2 euros. He just hasn't got the qualities required as a coach/manager unfortunately

Yeah I love the tradition of playing 2 attacking mids, one as a makeshift winger who doesn't even go near the wing (Bellingham) and the other (Foden) keeps getting the ball off the actual winger (Saka) for a classic #9 who's instructed to sit deep and run channels.

Set up for antifootball, get poor results, it really is that easy.

A genuinely better option going forward for today specifically:
- - - - - - - - Kane
Gordon - Belingham - Saka

Then don't have two defensive mids doing eff all all game and you're getting places, it's a good start.

Not got a clue what you are saying?

You comparing both players being in the box during corners with the play they have when they are further up the pitch?

Confused sorry
