Law 12

It is usually an offence if a player:

  • touches the ball with their hand/arm when:
    • the hand/arm has made their body unnaturally bigger
    • the hand/arm is above/beyond their shoulder level (unless the player deliberately plays the ball which then touches their hand/arm)
The above offences apply even if the ball touches a player’s hand/arm directly from the head or body (including the foot) of another player who is close.

-------

It's a clear penalty.
Indeed bu these new rules (and i think its a stupid ruling) it is a cast iron penalty

The Mina one on Son was a very close call. I have to admit that I thought that was a pen and Saha and the lads in the studio saying the same. Very clumsy from Mina.

The handball, I thought it would’ve been soft. Literally nobody complained, they didn’t gain an obvious advantage from it, it’s not like it blocked a shot. I didn’t claim when it 1st happened and nor did anybody else, it’s only when you see that the ref is checking you think “Oh, go on then!”

If you truly think that was a pen, a nailed on pen, then you have to concede Spurs had a strong case for one at the other end. And on the balance of things, perhaps both sides got a let-off.

That decision wasn’t the reason for the result. We didn’t deserve to win the game on the balance of our entire performance but a point was fair. The whole game changed after Andre went off and it was great to see Cenk come on and change things.

Emotions are raw now but in the cold light of day, tomorrow, you’ll realise that the performance wasn’t great. That’s what we should focus on.

There is no bias or corruption, we’re seeing City, Liverpool and other top clubs get the rough decisions given against them this season too! VAR is being implemented badly at the minute and it needs work or scrapping altogether.

It’s completely finished as a sport you can follow.

The fans that follow their teams are an absolute minority, so minute of a minority it’s hard to even explain.

If we all stopped going to the game tomorrow (every clubs fans) then everything would stay the same, all the money is coming in from outside the game, the bookies and the pubs cleaning up of all the once a month fans.

We live in a world where an Irish Man Utd fan will call an Irish Liverpool fan a Scouse prick and vice versa, they’re the football fans now not us.

The refs are briefed on controversy, they need it to keep the 24/7 news coverage flowing, the talk show hosts say things they don’t believe so people call in and get fuming then they make more ad money sticking the clip on YouTube.

The refs decision today was made on one of 2 factors , not upsetting the London club or doing something that will be a talking point, they watched videos of the ball hitting his hand for 3 minutes then said it didn’t hit his hand.

It’s fine though because it’ll be all over TV all week, they can push some ads for next manager to be sacked and tie it in too, it’s completely and utterly gone beyond comprehension in the top leagues.

No brighton players complained, but you thought that was a penalty.

honestly even if we get relegated 5 times in a row I’ll always be safe in the knowledge that I’ve not been a sad enough prick to pretend on the internet that I support a team that I don’t. Weirdo

This.

Fact is I haven’t brought myself to watch us for over 5 games.. I get no joy out of Everton and sadly I just expect nothing so rather than ruin my week I find I cope better missing it. Everything that has happened in the last few games just nails it in the coffin even more.

The issue isn’t VAR for me though, it’s the sheer incompetence of the people officiating and sitting behind the screen. If it isn’t incompetence then it is something a lot more nefarious !

Shearer and Wright were incredulous in the post match at the ridiculousness of those 2 penalty claims and especially the hand ball. They threw in the Keane challenge against Brighton at just how badly Everton have been treated by the system.

Give the penalty and Gomes would have walked off that pitch in one piece)

We are in a bad space, with an underperforming team, the last thing we need it to be treated criminally by the officials. It loses managers jobs and can cause a downward spiral in a team that hey can’t get out of.

Everton are cursed right now.. it feels we have been so for ages... this sounds dramatic I know.. harden up I guess...

lollol

Brilliant

Honestly could not feel any more negative about the club atm. Silva will inexplicably get more time to relegate us, injuries galore, no Bernard, no Gomes

I watched Shearer, Wright and the ex Referee chief.. all three said Son was no penalty.. to me he clearly dived. All three said the handball is clear too and should have been given.
