Former Everton Centre Forward Duncan Ferguson steps into management.....

END OF NOVEMBER 2018 RESULTS

november_results.webp

After an impressive performance against Boreham Wood, AFC Fylde suffered their first defeat under boss Duncan Ferguson.
In a game they controlled the majority of possession, they failed to convert their chances in front of goal. Hartlepool United were more clinical and looked more comfortable once leading.

The performance against Dagenham & Redbridge wasn't the grestest but AFC Fylde got the 3 points and are still having a good season considering the league table when Ferguson came in.

End of November table

Next up for Fylde is 2nd placed Barnet in the FA Cup. A win would see either side enter the third round which could result in a tie against a Premier League club which could be massively profitable for the winning non-league outfit.

A bit swings and roundabouts in the league now. The big man just has to grind through this and try and get the lads performance levels to the standards we demand. I can't see a late charge to the top of the table but I hope the foundations for long term success are being laid.

Hoping for a decent result at Barnet- could make the whole season one to remember if we get through into the third round.

TWO SIDES GIVE IT THEIR ALL IN CUP CLASH

It will now be settled at Mill Park on the 13th December as the two sides gave a solid display which resulted in a 2-2 draw. Fylde had the more clear cut chances and glanced so many headers over the bar. It was Denver Hume with two goals from great crosses into the box scoring one with his head and the other coming with a left foot volley. Barnet equalised in the 84th minute as the ball came in from a cross, hit the cross bar and went into the net after hitting Russell Griffiths on the back. A very unfortunate way to end the game and now it must all be done again in less than two weeks time.

Duncan Ferguson: It was unforunate to concede like we did, the players are a bit delated with the result here but we get another go and this time are in front of our home fans. If we play like we did again today I am confident we can get the result but I have to give Barnet the credit they deserve for persisting and eventually getting a replay.

After a meeting with the player, Duncan Ferguson told midfielder Kaby he must work hard and prove he is capable of a first team slot. Ferguson has used him as a substitute over recent fixtures but it is presumed the partnership of Andy Bond and Jim Kellermann is too strong to break at the moment. Ferguson was apprached by a journalist from The Non-league football paper but he refused to give any comment.

Dover 0 - 1 AFC Fylde

An away win which never seemed in doubt. A winning goal from Joe Cardle in the 58th minute put the fixture to bed as Fylde were comfortable in possession throughout the match.

AFC Fylde 2-1 Sutton Utd

Fylde went 2-0 up with two assists from Ashley Hemmings from the left wing. He put in a man of the match performance setting up goals for Danny Rowe and Lewis Montrose. Sutton pulled one back in the 75th minute but a defensive strategy ensured Big Dunc's men took all three points. Next up for Fylde is the FA Cup 2nd Round replay before FA Trophy begins against Hartlepool United.

Is there an outside chance of reaching the playoffs with 6 points between Fylde and Bromley?

No doubt about it now, a playoff spot is there for the taking as your only just past the halfway point in the season.

Not a great 3rd round draw but I guess at least you will have the chance to progress to the 4th round once you've snotted Barnet at home and then dispatch Wimbledon with minimum fuss

DOMINANT FYLDE LOSE IN EXTRA-TIME

With 27 shots and 61% of the possession, Fylde were unable to win their 2nd round cup tie replay against Barnet. Danny Rowe opened the scoring with a volley in the first half but after Russell Griffiths tried to claim the ball from a cross into the box, he got it all wrong and the ball fell to Barnet's Harrison who placed it into the back of the net. Barnet went 2-1 up after Danny Kane committed a foul inside the penalty box but Andy Bond scored a sweet right footed effort from 18 yards out that whistled into the top right corner. The game went into extra-time despite Fylde's dominance and Barnet capitalised on a knackered Fylde who had no fight left in them at this point scoring twice in extra time.

Duncan Ferguson: I can't fault them, it's devastating for them but we have to pick ourselves up and move on. They done everything I asked of them and more, I think extra-time was a step too far and we should have really wrapped this up in normal time. They gave it everything out there and it's a great achievement to reach the second round. It's a blow for me as well as them, I'm kicking every ball out there and it's frustrating when things just don't go your way.
