Colm Goode was ruled out this week for up to six weeks due to suffering a hernia. Russell Carey kept his place in the starting line-up and will be keen to get on the scoresheet this afternoon at the Nat Lofthouse Stadium. Two minutes in and Fylde were pinning Bolton back, Bytheway searched the opening from outside the box and threaded the ball through to Russell Carey but it seemed to be running away from him, he got to it and slotted past the keeper to make it 1-0! Just like he said he was going to do! 8 minutes in, Bytheway played it wide to Henderson but it was behind him, her got there and knocked it on for John Jones. Jones sent a low cross into the box and the 6 foot 4 striker Carey got his left foot around it and put it into the bottom corner! What a start for the striker! Three minutes later Fylde kept coming forward, Bytheway came down the right and played a direct ball into the box, Henderson was there and tapped it in to make it 3-0! Fylde are off to an incredible start! It was a match full of goals and just a few minutes later Bolton clawed one back from a free-kick taken by Adam Seaden who curled it round the wall and past Dube. Vince Bytheway was playing magnificently and his passing was top drawer, he got the ball into the box once again for Henderson who made Bolton pay with a stabbing shot into the bottom corner to make it 4-1! Vince Bytheway was unstoppable and just before half time sent a lovely cross into the box and Carey met it with a header aimed towards the top corner but it was just wide. He almost secured the perfect hattrick. Henderson almost returned the favour on 56 minutes when Bytheway won the header from his corner at the near post and it was inches wide. Russell Carey received a standing ovation from the away support on 76 minutes when was taken off for Jack Quinn. There was some bad news towards the end of the match when Euan Henderson went down with an ankle injury, he was unable to carry on and Hutson replaced him. It was a convincing win for Fylde and when they play like that you don't want to be on the receiving end.

DF: We got the goals early that enabled us to get the win and it's great to see Euan and Vince playing in their trademark way again. They are unstoppable when they are like that. Euan has a twisted ankle and is going to be out for a few weeks. We'll find out more when he has been assessed.

AFC Fylde vs Rochdale

It was second against Fourth at Mill Farm and with Henderson ruled out for around 3 weeks, Joe Donnelly got his chance on the left wing. The danger of Gordon McManus was highlighted to Fylde this week and after 18 seconds Timms sent the ball into the box on the left wing and McManus powered the shot past Dube. Fylde just not out of the blocks yet. It will be interesting to see how Fylde respond. Joe Donnelly came forward down the left and cut inside towards the box, he played a nice ball into the feet of Bytheway, he took the shot but it rolled into the keepers hands. With a bit of power it could have been an instant reply. The front men of Rochdale were clicking together, Frear chased the ball down before it went out for a goal kick and got it across goal, Dube punched it clear and Timms took it down and slotted to make it 2-0 after 10 minutes. Fylde enjoyed good possession and Bytheway was going for goal but the shot was blocked and Fylde won their first corner. The difference between the two sides was the attacking and Rochdale were putting Fylde under real pressure. Adshead held the ball up well and released it for Gregory to shoot and he made it 3-0 on 25 minutes. Fylde really had no way back from this. Fylde were attacking brilliantly in the second half and were getting shots away, Bytheway had a great shot that looked like it was going into the bottom left corner turned away at the last second. Morton shot at goal and the keeper tipped it over the bar. John Jones won the ball in the middle and ran forward, he played it right to Bytheway and he crossed low into the box but nobody could get to it. The game ended and Rochdale were the victors at Mill Farm. The players looked dejected and humiliated on their own ground. It is a result that brings them back down to earth with a bang.

DF: First half we were dreadful. We didn't get started and they were much much better. Second half was an improvement, we created enough chances and gave their goalkeeper something to think about but I've got to say, what a game he had. The result is a wake up call for all of us, we have to keep working hard at this. it's upsetting to be on the end of a defeat like this.

Exeter City vs AFC Fylde

Ferguson made changes with Richard Macrae and Sam Gibson partnering at the back. Mick Wisdom played alongside Ellis McKimm-Forster and Russell Carey led the line as Exeter feared a retaliation from The Coasters. McKimm-Forster repaid the faith shown in him, when he won the ball outside the Exeter box, took it onto his left finding space before unleashing a great strike that flew past the keeper! 1-0! McKimm-Forster was in the mood when on 17 minutes later he intercepted the Exeter throw-in and played in Donnelly who was one on one and the keeper saved his effort. Bytheway took the ball down, played it into the box for Donnelly who kept his shot low but he put it wide. John Jones pulled up with a calf injury on 33 minutes, Henry Whitehead-Davies came on for him. Jones has been one of the best players in the league this season. Russell Carey also pulled up with a hamstring injury, he was replaced by Tyrone O'Neill on 53 minutes. This was O'Neill's chance to reclaim his place. It was only one goal between the two sides and Exeter were trying to play long balls forward over the defence. Fylde went to three in midfield, Uttridge came on for Josh Ferguson. Uttridge got in space outside the box and had a good effort at goal but the keeper pushed it behind. Joe Donnelly took the corner getting it to the back post, O'Neill headed down towards goal and it was cleared off the line. Fylde just had to see out the final few minutes to secure a hard fought away win. Good away win for The Coasters, this sees them go top of the table on goal difference!

AFC Fylde vs Manchester Utd U23's
EFL Trophy

Manchester United are renowned for their academy success and it's a chance for them to put League One Fylde to the test at Mill Farm. It was a chance for Darren Morris on the right side for Fylde and Henry Whitehead-Davies playing at left back. Declan Marshall played behind striker Tyrone O'Neill. 24 year old Jordan Davies played at right back for Man Utd, the defender recently handed in a transfer request at the club. Joe Donnelly took the corner on 6 minutes but it was cleared away, McKimm-Forster got hold of it on the edge of the box and played it back out for Donnelly to cross and he found the head of Morris at the far post! 1-0! Marshall took the ball down well on 31 minutes, he played it out left to Donnelly, he came inside and played it to Morris, Morris took a touch and used his pace beating his man to open up the left footed shot which he drove into the bottom left corner! 2-0! Donnelly and Morris were both playing well, certainly giving Ferguson something to think about long term. Donnelly had a free-kick on the left flank, he put it into the box low, it deflected off Wright and went in! Donnelly will get the goal! Russell Carey was on for the last 30 minutes replacing Tyrone O'Neill. Donnelly tried to find space to dribble into, Daly came from behind sticking out his leg and fouled the winger. He had already been booked and received his second yellow of the day. Russell Carey almost got a goal in stoppage time when late substitute Hutson crossed for the striker but the keeper held the header well. Great win for Fylde as they move to the top of the group and it is looking likely they will be progressing from this season's group stage.
