Former Everton Centre Forward Duncan Ferguson steps into management.....

Surely between yourself, your ma and Danny Rowe you can make that happen with a few threatening visits to opposition players.

Can't risk it mate, I've got more tags on me than a clothes shop atm.

Can't go back to the slammer, done my time committed no crime (well I did but that's not the point)

I shot the sheriff
But I did not shoot the deputy......I just accidently ran him over because I wasn't used to the manual gear box in their police car!

Preston North End vs AFC Fylde
8th October 2032

=Preston result.webp

A tough game awaited Fylde with a trip to Deepdale to play Preston North End who were hopeful of a straight return to The Championship but Fylde would like to have a say in that. 7 minutes in, John Jones gets the ball to Josh Ferguson and he crosses into the box, Bytheway gets up for the header but he put it wide. Preston were trying to find the breakthrough, Freeman took the ball wide but Morton cleared. Preston still came forward and Ryan found space for the shot and it swerved past Dube to make it 1-0. Fylde needed to find the equaliser in the second half but Preston were looking like a solid outfit. With 30 minutes to go, Barry Gannon was trying his luck from range but Fylde were keeping it out, it came back to Gannon and he squeezed the shot through the bodies and made it 2-0. Fylde could not get the ball back and Max Broughton went route one with a ball down the middle for Waite-Brown to take down with his right foot and bury it past Dube to make it three. Fylde showed a glimpse of quality with 5 minutes to go, free flowing attacking football with Ferguson unleashing Jones down the left and he crossed for O'Neill but he headed against the post. The match came to an end and it was a comprehensive win for Preston in front of the Sky cameras for Friday night football.

DF: They were step above, much better quality and could finish. We struggled to last the pace with them and they deserved all three points. We have a lot of work still to do. I said it gets harder to make it out of this division. We have to hope we get a few results going our way this weekend.

AFC Fylde vs Rotherham United
15th October 2032

=Rotherham result.webp

Ellis McKimm-Forster suffered an injury in training and missed out on the chance to take on Rotherham. Wisdom and Uttridge partnered in midfield. Ferguson made a decision that shocked supporters and dropped Vince Bytheway for Darren Morris. There had been speculation lately that Brentford were keen on Bytheway but there were no suggestions that he was angling for the move. It could also be as simple as resting Bytheway for the trip to Ipswich on the forthcoming Tuesday night. It was a very quiet afternoon of football and with 12 minutes to go, Wilson replaced Uttridge and Bytheway came on for Morris. Robbie Henderson received the ball for Rotherham and he crossed it into the box, Hartshorn was there to volley it in under no pressure and could have stole it for Rotherham with just a few minutes to play. Josh Ferguson won the ball in midfield with 91 minutes on the clock, he played it left to Donnelly, he got it to the far post and Bytheway slotted to level! 1-1! But it won't count, Bytheway was offside! There was more action in the last 5 minutes than the rest of the match and it's an away win for Rotherham United.

Ipswich Town vs AFC Fylde

=Ipswich result.webp

Fylde were on the back of two defeats and needed to change their fortunes at Portman Road if their aspirations of promotion were to be achieved. Fylde were buoyed by the news that Euan Henderson was named on the team sheet and the midfield trio of Wisdom, Wilson and Uttridge in the centre of the park. Bytheway managed to get the Ipswich corner out of the box and it released Euan Henderson, he came forward down the right beating the last defender, he squared it to Carey and he put the shot wide. He should have scored. Ipswich were dangerous on the attack and Dube was doing well to keep The Coasters in the match. Fylde were looking to spring a counter attack in the second half. Euan Henderson's game came to an end with a shot that just whistled past the post. He was replaced by Tyrone O'Neill. Josh Ferguson replaced Patrick Uttridge with ten minutes to go to try and find the winner at Portman Road. O'Neill played a great ball for Josh Ferguson and he carried on his run into the box, John Jones took the ball on the left and crossed it in but it was headed away. Palma picked it up for Ipswich, he sent it long for Spencer Wixon to run run on to it and under no pressure curled the ball into the top corner, 1-0 to Ipswich. Minutes remained for Fylde but they could not do enough in this to rescue a point. It's a third consecutive defeat for Fylde.

AFC Fylde vs Cheltenham Town

=Cheltenham result.webp

Ferguson made changes to the team, going with O'Neill and Carey up front. Richard Macrae came in at defence with Sam Gibson. It didn't start well for Fylde, Marc Dodd set up Whitfield and he kept it low beating Dube on 16 minutes. Hutson replaced O'Neill on 57 minutes, it was a poor showing from Fylde so far. Bytheway came forward with minutes remaining, he played it into the path of Henderson and his shot was turned behind by the keeper. A chance for Fylde from the corner. Jones sends it in but Connolly heads it over resulting in another corner. Jones put the ball into the box but it was headed away. Cheltenham managed to see the game out and recorded a win against a team that looks like they have imploded.

DF: I'm lost for words, we looked sluggish and completely off the pace. There was no desire from anyone today to get something from that game. Cheltenham have started well in League One after their promotion, they're 10th in the table and they were better than what we were today. Our promotion bid has taken a hit and I think the players are feeling the pressure to perform. We know what we are capable of as we have achieved it in the past but we done it as underdogs. Now, everyone is expecting. We need to take the pressure off and allow the lads to play their own game. The boos at full-time don't help anyone. I'm as disappointed just as the fans are but we have to stop expecting and go back to enjoying the football. It starts next week in the F.A Cup, last season we reached the semi-final, an incredible feat that will be talked about for many years. I'm not saying we can't do it again but it is quite an unrealistic aim. We will enjoy it just like we did last season and whatever happens, happens.

We've still got 2 months of pure quality before December comes and we turn into relegation fodder

Seems like we’re going into meltdown early this year.
