The new season was upon us! Fylde back in The Championship taking on relegated West Brom. Ferguson handed debuts to Reece James and Macaully Hunt. Chris Brookes and Scott Redshaw were named amongst the substitutes. Mill Farm was a cauldron of noise as the match got underway, both sides shaking off the rust in the opening 15 minutes. Reece James played the free-kick short to Bytheway on the right wing, he ran forward unopposed and crossed in for Henderson who belted home on opening day, 1-0! The Fylde legend is off the mark! West Brom tried to hit back but Jimmy Dube was stopping shots from everywhere. Reece James took the ball from Dube and played it forward to Bytheway, he looked up and found Henderson arriving in the box, the ball came over and Henderson slotted to get his second and make it 2-0! Hunt played it wide to Bytheway and he pumped it into the box for Carey but it was headed away, Hunt picked it up and the crowd urged him to shoot, he thumped it on his right foot with power towards goal and the keeper could only get a hand to it but couldn't stop it, 3-0! Fylde were playing very well, on 63 minutes Macaully Hunt indicated to come off with an injury and was replaced by Declan Marshall, what a debut for Hunt. Scott Redshaw replaced Russell Carey with 20 minutes to go. The football on show was incredible, Bytheway and Marshall made some nice passes before Marshall gave it to McKimm-Forster who curled it into the top left corner from 18 yards! 4-0! Fylde are rampant! What a result for Fylde on their first day in The Championship!

DF: Nobody expected that! We were by far the better team and I'm blown away by that performance. Everything worked brilliantly. It's a great start but we have been here before and as the season went on we found it tough so we just need to keep ourselves grounded and remind ourselves of what we need to do each week.

Jonesy is going nowhere, he's a top fella.

Plus he's currently in "the cage" under my stairs.

Rest assured he's going nowhere
