Former Everton Centre Forward Duncan Ferguson steps into management.....

I've just phoned Danny Rowe up @The Penalty Box Dancer to see if he wants to start a franchise up in the MLS.

I'll name them Canary Coasters and set up will be in Washington as apparently its real close to Sunderland so we won't have far to travel.

No need to thank me yet mate but I've got word that Big Dunc is interested and Mbappe is looking to finish his career in the North of England according to some meffs who support Newcastle.

NORWICH CITY YOUTH

With the arrival of new management at Norwich and the coaching team enhanced further with James Beattie and Duncan's right hand man Nick Haycock plus Ben Foster coaching the Goalkeepers, there is the prospect of young talent to get excited about at Carrow Road. 20 year old Scott Finnie has all the makings of a top player and could prove to be a steal from Livingston for £98k. 22 year old Joshua Hallett has creative quality playing behind the striker and is deemed a future Premier League star. In the U18's Ed Lobjoint has been making all the right noises and the Striker has just joined Hereford for the rest of the season in the National League. There is a wealth of talent at the club available to be nurtured by Ferguson and there could be exciting times ahead if Ferguson is allowed the time to build something here.

Hallett is oozing quality. As long as he can keep his hands off all the top talent in Norwich, he'll be a superstar!

No chances of that then...

The first home game of the new regime and the supporters gave Ferguson a rousing reception upon taking to the dugout at Carrow Road. When asked about the FA Cup draw against Fylde he stated that it would be a difficult day for him to get through due to the love he has for Fylde. Johnston started up top with Brown and Richardson on the flanks. 11 minutes in and it was Brown who came forward unopposed, he cut inside and shot from outside the box but it drifted wide. Kendall whipped the free-kick in on 35 minutes and Daniel Jelfs headed against the bar. Three minutes into the second half, Kendall played it wide to Richardson and he crossed for Brown in the box but his shot was pushed away by the keeper. Robbie Greaves replaced Matt Johnston up front and Paul McCluskey was replaced in midfield by Joshua Hallett. Kendall took the corner and crossed towards the near post, Richardson headed against the bar. Wilkins took the throw to Hallertt but he lost out to Malone, Malone played it forward to Rowe but Latibeaudiere tackled, the ball ran free and Rowe was up first to take the shot but he dragged it wide. 26 year old winger Remi Hughes got his chance with 15 minutes to go replacing Ian Richardson. The match ended 0-0 and Norwich should have done better with 62% possession and 9 shots on target.

2nd place Huddersfield took on Norwich in The Championship with The Canaries hoping to keep their play-off hopes alive. The players were not yet adapting to Ferguson's style of play and they were off the tempo. Ferguson had Fylde playing with fluidity and we were yet to see that from his Norwich side. Scott Finnie made the first team playing behind striker Robbie Greaves. Ronaldo Vieira made the bench after being stuck in the U23's. Fylde were under the cosh inside the first few minutes and the passing from Norwich was wayward. Batth was playing well early on and made a few good stops. Matt Johnston came on for Robbie Greaves with 30 minutes to go. Huddersfield were getting forward but Norwich defended very well and kept them out. The match ended 0-0 and another clean sheet for Batth.
DF: We are tight at the back but we aren't converting our chances. Our passing isn't clicking and the tempo isn't there. The players will need time to adjust to this style of play, it demands intensity but I'm hopeful we can get there.

Richard Batth had been receiving all the plaudits for his recent match performances and was being closely watched by Derby County in The Premier League. Ferguson was still unbeaten in his first three matches but needed to turn draws into wins to set up a dramatic season finale. Four minutes in, Kendall won the header and played it wide to Richardson, he played it long for Johnston to chase, he shrugged his marker and the crowd grew louder, he cut in from the right and unleashed a shot on his left foot into the top left corner! 1-0! Matt Johnston with a screamer! Kendall took the free-kick and crossed into the box, the ball fell to Jon Foster and the keeper tipped it round the post. Kendall took the corner, Johnston took it down but couldn't get the shot away, the keeper came out and he passed to Richardson who slotted to make it 2-0! Norwich were caught out a few minutes later when Price played a through ball to Yilmaz and Latibeaudiere couldn't win the ball and stop him from tucking it away. Second half offered little in chances and with ten minutes to go Ronaldo Vieira came on for Finnie to bolster the midfield. Richardson had a great shot denied on 85 minutes after a good ball from Kendall. Richardson skipped past two Sheffield United players and played it to Jamieson who crossed from deep, Brown got to it and struck the post.

Norwich City vs Burnley
26th December 2033

=Burnley result.webp

It seemed the Norwich team were beginning to click and the team were benefiting from the engine on Matt Kendall. Richardson was starting to show glimpses of quality down the right, something Ferguson managed to get out of Vince Bytheway at Fylde. Eddie King was in Central Defence after a minor injury and Daniel Jelfs was recovering from a training injury. Centre back Eddie King was a rare choice to take the corner but he delivered beautifully to the six yard box and Finnie headed against the bar on 20 minutes. The ball was pumped into the box for Ibrahimi on 23 minutes and the keeper saved them but he let it run free and Ibrahimi tapped it in to give the visitors the lead. With 20 minutes to go Ferguson urged his full backs to get forward and Wilkins came on to replace Mgaga. Richardson played it to Jamieson on the right and took it back, he played it inside to Finnie and he rattled off a great strike low into the bottom right corner! The keeper had no chance! Burnley came forward and space opened up for Cooke on the left, he crossed in and the ball was cleared. Finnie took it and played it out wide to Richardson, he came forward and played a nice ball over the top for Johnston who controlled beautifully and slotted on his left to get his 7th of the season! 2-1 to Norwich! Burnley put the pressure on but Norwich defended well and kept them out. Brilliantly organised by the captain Latibeaudiere in the closing minutes.

DF: A great comeback and a great response against a good side. That win puts us 3 points off play-offs and we're firmly in the mix now.

Norwich City vs AFC Fylde
F.A Cup Third Round
31st December 2033

=Fylde result.webp

The most talked about tie in the F.A Cup this weekend and it was Duncan Ferguson up against the team he took from the National League to The Championship. Ferguson returns to Mill Farm in a weeks time when Norwich visit Fylde in the league. The away end was covered in banners demanding the resignation of the owner but Ward had insisted the club is not for sale. It was interesting to see Fylde line up without Henderson and Bytheway who seemed out of favour under the new manager and Mick Wisdom seemed to be playing a new role on the left of midfield. Dube played the ball upfield and Redshaw played in Brookes and he took the shot which Batth tipped behind. Matt Kendall was controlling the midfield and he played in Richardson who cut in on his left foot to shoot and Dube saved low to turn it away. Jamieson tackled Wisdom and Richardson was away down the right, it was sent into the box for Johnston who beat Reece James and he slotted low into the bottom right to make it 1-0! There wasn't much between the two sides and Fylde decided to make a change with just over 30 minutes to go, Darren Morris being replaced by Richard Moore. Hallett replaced Finnie who was having a quiet game. Fylde were caught napping and Hallett almost made them pay but his shot was charged down by Reece James who was going crazy at his teammates. Vince Bytheway finally got on the pitch and was thrown up top with Brookes. Kendall was playing well and linked up with Richardson down the right but there was no one to get on the end of the crosses. Jarvis threw it to Wisdom deep inside the Norwich half with a few minutes to go, Wisdom had to go back to Harper and he played it in the middle to Uttridge but his shot went wide of the post. Dube tried to play the goal kick to Jarvis but Richardson intercepted and crossed into the box from deep, Johnston took it down well and played a through ball to Hallett and he placed it into the bottom corner to beat Dube and make it 2-0! Norwich will be going through to the Fourth Round. Jarvis brought it forward on 93 minutes but Kendall tackled well. Norwich passed the ball around until the final whistle and secured a good win over Ferguson's former club.

DF: It's difficult to see your former club from the other side but they seem to be doing well under the new manager and I want them to succeed in The Championship this season. I don't want to get into the details of why I left, I'm pleased for Norwich getting the win and it keeps the club competing in The Championship as well as the F.A Cup.

A win today could see Norwich sneak into the play-off places depending on results going their way. Ferguson kept the same starting XI that beat Fylde over the weekend. The first half was quiet and Hull came out immediately in the second to put Norwich one down when Mandanda found McKenna at the far post in space to give his side the lead. 56 minutes and Norwich had a free-kick, Eddie King crossed it into the box and Finnie left his man to head in the equaliser! Robbie Greaves came on for Ian Brown on the left of midfield. Few minutes remained and there wasn't much to shout about from either side. The match ended and it was a quiet affair with both teams taking a point.

Norwich will travel to Fylde this weekend for a Championship clash with The Coasters. Euan Henderson had this to say before the game:

EH: It's difficult to find myself on the sidelines and have recently picked up a minor knee injury but I am aiming to be training again in a few weeks time. I've not played under the new manager and he has his own style of play, it seems to be working, the lads are picking up results. The transfer window is open and I have to do what is right for my career. I have been working towards my coaching badges and a career in management is something I'm interested in. My dream is to lead Fylde out at Wembley one day.

=Fylde result.webp

Duncan Ferguson was welcomed back to Fylde, this time as an oppostion manager. The crowd were pleased to see their former manager and the animosity towards the current board room was boiling over. Ferguson shook hands with Guilavogui once again and the pair shared a joke before taking to their dugouts. With Remi Hughes leaving the club this week, there was speculation around Norwich on who would be brought in to replace him. Scott Finnie was attracting interest from clubs in the Premier League but Ferguson stated his release clause would have to be met. Fylde manager Guilavogui favoured Darren Morris over Vince Bytheway with the winger becoming frustrated with his lack of first team chances. The manager may have been right as Jarvis crossed from the left and Morris won the header guiding it into the top left corner to give Fylde an early lead. Fylde were on top and the corner to the edge of the box to Mick Wisdom was catching Norwich out, they defended well and managed to keep the score to 1-0. Kendall took the ball in the middle and found Finnie, he thought about the shot but played it right to Richardson who crossed for Johnston and he volleyed towards goal but Dube pushed it away, good save. Two minutes into the second half and Matt Kendall tripped McKimm-Forster and received a yellow card, 5 minutes later he done the same thing but proclaimed McKimm-Forster was acting but received his second yellow card and was off! The task was made harder for Norwich. Cottrell played it to Foster but he lost out to Morton, he played a long bal forward and it was a race between Latibeaudiere and Redshaw. Redshaw shook him off and slotted into the bottom left corner to give Fylde the win with three minutes to go. The whistle was blown and the fans were ecstatic with the victory. Ferguson applauded the fans and walked off down the tunnel.
