Former Everton Centre Forward Duncan Ferguson steps into management.....

EUAN HENDERSON

Euan Henderson says he made the biggest mistake of his footballing career signing for Norwich in January 2034. He has made a total of 3 senior appearances and with Liam Bailey managing the club, he has been banished to the U23's playing 7 games and scoring 2 goals this season. The 35 year old Fylde legend was close to breaking Danny Rowe's goalscoring record trailing by 14 goals when he made the switch to Carrow Road. The winger is now looking to start his career in coaching and one day hopes to become a manager. "Duncan Ferguson is the best manager I've ever worked for. I have a lot of respect for him and his coaching style, he got the best out of me for many years and I have the awards to prove it. I played in four divisions and many pundits said I would never make it out of the Conference. I scored 22 goals in one season in League One and had one of my better seasons in football at the age of 32. My focus is to get some coaching experience now and I'm hoping it can lead to a career in management."
Classic Norwich. Wouldn't know quality if it bit them and defecated on their doorstep. Ironically that's what Delia Smith accused Hendo of doing but I'm sure there's no connection.

Real Zaragoza vs Guijuelo
29th September 2035

=Guijuelo result.webp

Zaragoza wanted to continue their fine early season form and a home tie against struggling Guijuelo was a chance to make that statement. It didn't take long and on 30 seconds Richard Alonso converted Emilio Alvarez's cross low into the bottom corner! It was a first half dominating display from thre home side and it was the midfielders putting on a classy show. Flano, Romero and Silva in great form. Silva got an assist on 45 minutes when he set up Romero who caught the keepers hand with his shot that ended up in the net, 2-0 and Zaragoza were looking comfortable. Perez cleared the ball for Zaragoza on the 65th minute putting the ball out for a throw-in. Ramos threw the ball to Fran knocking it back to Ramos, he played a low cross into the box and as Javi tried to clear he got it wrong and sliced the ball into his own net, 2-1 and a chance for Guijuelo to grab something from the game. Zaragoza were a tough team for the opposition to break down and Romero was outstanding in the centre of the park. A good win for Zaragoza as they stay in contention for promotion at this early stage of the season.

DF: We've got to keep getting points on the board and staying around the top. The expectations are for this team to be challenging and a team with this history should be competing in La Liga, it's as simple as that. We are building a team that will be good enough for the top division and after so many years of underperforming we can finally get back to where we belong.

Club Deportivo Lugo vs Real Zaragoza
7th October 2035

=Lugo result.webp

Zaragoza travelled to Lugo to play at Anxo Carro in front of 8000 fans. Manzella was going to be out for almost 5 months and Toni Galindo was holding his own in the first team. Eugenio Alvarez started in midfield as Carlos Romero was struggling with fitness. After a fast start to proceedings it was a goal for the home side when Dupuy crossed for Zentilin who was unmarked at the back post and on hand to tap the ball away. Igor Martinez rose for the ball but dropped it under no pressure, Javi was there to get the ball out wide to Alonso, he came forward at speed and played a nice ball into the box for Abadias to get on to but Luciano made a great challenge. The second half started well for Zaragoza but they were up against a sturdy defence. Richard Donkor came on to replace Ioseba Flano with 30 minutes to play. Zubillaga was having a quiet game and making little impact up top so Lanchashire's own Andrew Ledson came on to try and make a name for himself in Spain. The match didn't have the ending Ferguson demanded from his players and it's the first loss of the season for Zaragoza. A dejected Ferguson looked on in astonishment as his players left the field.

Real Zaragoza vs Real Sociedad B

=Real Sociedad B result.webp

Zaragoza were looking to bounce back after last week's defeat against Lugo. Defeat meant Los Blanquillos missed out on moving in to the promotion places at this early stage of the season and a win today could see them move into 2nd if results go their way. Zaragoza were boosted with the news of the return of midfielder Juan. Abadias was recovering from an injury so Robert Cobos started on the left. Zubillaga was fouled in the area when the corner came in on 2 minutes and the referee awarded the penalty. A chance for Zubillaga to get his team off to a good start. He tucked it nicely into the bottom left corner, 1-0 to the home team! Romero knocked it right to Juan on 25 minutes and the midfielder hit a pearler of a shot that was dipping but the keeper tipped it over the bar, great effort from Juan. Iriondo was having a great game in goal for Sociedad as he kept everything out for his team, pulling off a great stop from Donkor's shot on the stroke of half-time. Zaragoza were in total control but needed to convert more chances. Real Sociedad B proved to be of no real threat and Zaragoza get over the line but were unable to score more goals.

DF: I think our build-up play is as good as anyones but we aren't finishing and that's what could let us down this season. The season is young and we are doing well, we are still in the cup and we want to go as far as we can in that.

Real Zaragoza vs Atletico Pamplona

Copa Del Ray Third Round

=Athletico Pamplona result.webp

The last time the two sides met was in the Second Division play-off final and Pamplona were victorious over the two legs. A tense rivalry was sent to boiling point when the two sides met in the summer with Pamplona gaining promotion to LaLiga, stealing Real Zaragoza's long awaited dream. Juan was building his fitness since injury with another start in the space of four days. Martinez claimed the ball with ease from the Pamplona corner and instantly played it wide left to Cobos who could counter attack, he corssed into the box for Zubillaga, he took it down and hit a half volley that he blazed over the bar. The first real chance in the match after 30 minutes. The intensity between the two sides was building and Donkor took the ball in the middle of the park, Perrot came after Donkor and as he tried to evade the tackle, he took Donkor out and earned a red card for a two footed tackle! Time was running out for both sides and Zubillage missed an important chance for Zaragoza after Cobos put the ball on a plate for him. He was taken off with 30 minutes to go and Xavier Alvarado came on. Alvarado was only on for 5 minutes before going off with a foot injury, Andrew Ledson took his place. Ten minutes remained, Zaragoza came down the left and Gomez switched the play to Galindo, he put a cross in but it went straight across the box, nobody gambled on it. Gomez picked it up on the left and found Alonso inside the area who headed low into the bottom corner! Zaragoza may have just nicked it! The home fans grew in voice and were loving having the lead over their rivals. The noise was deafening on 94 minutes as the fans begged for the final whistle and it was blown as Javi cut out the long ball forward and it's Pamplona who are dumped out of the Copa Del Ray! Their season goes from bad to worse and Zaragoza march on!

DF: We had forty thousand supporters in here today and we are a Second divsion team. The support was fantastic and we gave them a game, they couldn't get near us and we got the victory to keep us going in the cup.
