Dollingstown vs Portadown
7th November 2037

=Portadown result.webp

Henderson put Steven Porter at left back and Gary McKenna at right back. He is pleased with 17 year old Luke Walker and says he will continue to get minutes in the first team this season. O'Shea brpught the ball out and played it down the left for Coyle who pulled wide, he crossed into the box for Young and the keeper palmed his shot away from the near post. Dollingstown were playing with confidence, Kee had a shot at goal but the keeper kept hold of it. Dollingstown started the second half how they finished the first and Porter flicked the ball on to Young who got the cross in at the first attempt, Coyle won the header and beat the keeper to make it 1-0 on 46 minutes! Portadown came out attacking and McKinney went for goal from 20 yards and Mackle acrobatically tipped it over. Thomas Delaney gave away a free-kick and Shea Rowland set up Black whose deflective shot beat Mackle making it 1-1. Simon Young took the corner on 67 minutes and Irwin the keeper for Portadown tried to claim it but took it over the line making it 2-1 to Dolingstown! What an error by the keeper! Portadown sent the ball in for Rowland on 75 minutes and McNally put in a good tackle but Mulholland came in from behind and the referee gave a penalty! McKinney took the kick, Mackle got a hand to it but couldn't stop the powerful spot kick from going in, 2-2. Henderson was furious with that soft decision but the referee stated there was contact. The Dollingstown supporters were livid when the assistant referee signalled for five additional minutes. Porter slowed the game down with a minute to go, Dollingstown kept the ball and played out the match to get a point from the game. A good performance but Harland and Wolff Welders won again to move three points clear.

DF: We decided to move Steven Porter to left back as he has a strong left foot and he done what we asked of him and more today. The position is his as he offers so much down that left side.

Cliftonville vs Dollingstown
24th November 2037

=Cliftonville result.webp

It was a long break since their last league match and going to league leaders Cliftonville when there is going to be a bit of rust could be a disaster. Cliftonville are yet to be beaten in the league this season. Jimmy Boyd started the match alongside Michael Coyle in attack. You could say Cliftonville got a slice of luck when on 3 minutes, Mcgowan hit a shot from outside the box that hit the post then deflected off Mackle and into the net to give the leaders the lead. It was all Cliftonville in the first half but Dollingstown done well to limit their efforts on goal, winning aerial duels. Marc Kerr found Ian Culllen in space on 38 minutes and he slotted it past Mackle from 12 yards to make it 2-0. Jimmy Boyd done well in possession and played it wide to Coyle, he got forward and put in a great low ball for the run of Simon Young but he could only find the side netting, a great chance for Dollingstown. Just before half-time Carroll put in a two-footed challenge on David Kee and was shown a straight red card. It was a disgusting challenge and luckily David Kee was ok . Marc O'Shea put a good tackle in but the first to react to the loose ball was Ian Cullen who turned and curled it into the top corner to make it 3-0. O'Shea put a great ball over the top and Young finished it off but he was offside, Henderson was encouraged and told his side to keep going in the last 15 minutes. The same happened again on 91 minutes, Young caught once again by the offside trap. It was a close call but the referee got it right. Cliftonville got their 14th win of the season and Glentoran picked up a win to lift them off the bottom and put Dollingstown in 12th place.

EH: We performed a lot better than when we last played them. Don't just focus on the result, look at the stats, we had more possession, we had five shots on target, they had six. They were better in front of goal and that is what we are working towards. We are making progress every week. The longer Duncan and myself are with the squad, we are improving and it's noticeable on the pitch.

Crusaders vs Dollingstown
29th November 2037

=Crusaders result.webp

Dollingstown were in need of points to get them off the bottom of the table, sitting two points behind Glentoran. They had a tough away trip to Crusaders despite them getting a surprise draw against them earlier in the season. Dollingstown had a great chance early on when Young got the ball into the box from the right and Jimmy Boyd put it straight at the keeper. Dolingstown put themselves under pressure and Ricky O'Connor's drive from outside the box swerved through the bodies and flew past Mackle making it 1-0 8 minutes. David Kee lined up the free-kick inside the opposition half, he swung it in to the back post and Thomas Delaney headed just over the bar. Crusaders doubled their lead on 54 minutes when Stephens peeled away from McKenna and slotted past Mackle at the post. Dollingstown didn't give up and with 12 minutes to go David Kee hit a beautiful free-kick that went over the wall and past the keeper to get his third of the season! A minute later Kee passed it forward to Kemp who passed to Coyle, he tried it from outside the box and it bounced over the keeper to level! Dollingstown have pulled it back! Ronnie McCann went off injured for Crusaders in the last ten minutes but they had no subs left so were down to ten men. The game went into stoppage time and Mulholland mis-timed his interception and Cooling was one on one, he slotted to give Crusaders the lead. It has ended in defeat for Dollingstown but what a comeback it was to get it level at 2-2.

Dollingstown vs Loughgall
Northern Irish Mid Ulster Cup First Round
1st December 2037

=Loughgall result.webp

Bluefin Sport Championship 2nd place team Loughgall travelled to Dollingstown for the first round of the Mid Ulster Cup. Loughgall are two-time winners of the trophy, the last coming in 2008. Henderson made changes for the game with Luke Walker and Gary McKenna playing at full back, Duncan Herron started alongside Thomas Delaney and Ryan Reilly and Glenn Hughes started up front. Stephen Millar sent the free-kick on 14 minutes to the far post and Ciaran Dunlop got up to head beating Mackle and put Loughgall in front. Duncan Herron's forward pass was a poor one and the ball was played forward for Loughgall's Browne to break free and get one on one with Mackle, but he done well to get down to save it comfortably. Loughgall had another chance on 31 minutes, Dunlop put it across the box for Millar and he slid in trying to get it over the line, Mulholland saved it on the line but then Millar got another chance and made no mistake the second time, 2-0. Martin O'Shea took the ball in space on the left and put a great ball into the six yard box for Simon Young to bury to pull one back on 40 minutes! Luke Walker and Ryan Reilly left the field on 60 minutes making way for Steven Porter and Luke Kemp. Simon Young took the free-kick aiming towards the six yard box and the crows gasped when it fell to Delaney but he hit the side netting. Seconds remained on the clock and the Dollingstown players were knackered, Duncan Herron went down and couldn't carry on. 16 year old Barry Ewart came on for the remaining seconds. Simon Young took the ball on the right and played it forward in the hope of one last attack, Glenn Hughes took hold of it, the defence backed off and he hit a low shot towards the bottom left corner and he made it 2-2! What a comeback! It's going to be extra-time at Planters Park! Can Henderson and Ferguson give their players some words of encouragement? They've been here before themselves. The rain was belting down as the Dollingstown players tried to give it their all in extra-time with tiring legs. Delaney done well to close down the shot from outside the box, Clarke whipped it back in and McNally headed clear. Hughes got it wide to Young, he crossed in and the sliced clearance came to O'Shea, he couldn't control it in the wet conditions and it rolled out of play. Dollingstown won the ball back high up the pitch through Young, he passed to Delaney who instantly sprayed it wide to O'Shea, in space he had time to cross to the near post and Luke Kemp guided the header past a stranded keeper in the dying seconds of extra-time! Dollingstown have done it! What a turnaround! Loughgall kicked off and got it forward, Irwin went for goal from 25 yards and put it over the bar. Dollingstown go through! What a result!

EH: It was brilliant to get it to 2-2 in the last second and take it to extra-time and then to go on and win just before it was set for penalties was something special. Duncan spoke to the lads after 90 minutes and he kept them fighting. They were running on empty but we stayed in our shape and got the ball forward through the channels. It was a fantastic win, we want to see more of this!

Dollingstown vs Dungannon Swifts
5th December 2037

=Dungannon result.webp

The Dollingstown lads were on a high after a dramatic night in the cup this week. The lads would have returned to their day jobs in glorious spirits the following morning. Gary McKenna was rested and Steven Porter started at right back. Luke Walker went in at left back. Dungannon were in good form in 2nd place but were ten points adrift of leaders Cliftonville. Kyle McNally was adjudged to have fouled Lecky when his arm went across his face on 8 minutes, the referee awarded Dungannon the penalty. Gary Lecky stepped up to take the penalty and there was no doubt when it his the back of the net on 9 minutes. McPartland played the ball to Johnston, he jinxed past Delaney and curled the ball around Mackle nestling it into the bottom left corner, 2-0 to Dungannon. Dollingstown were being torn apart in the first half and just before the break, Johnston played a ball in to Lecky that no Dollingstown player was near and blasted it past Mackle, game set and match inside the first half or was it? On the stroke of half-time, Mulholland pumped the ball forward to target man Jimmy Boyd who beat the defence and slotted coolly past the keeper! 3-1! A minute into the second half and Dollingstown looked buoyed, Kee got it forward to Coyle and he slipped it through for Boyd but he shot over the bar. Gary McKenna came on for the last 30 minutes replacing Luke Walker. Steven Porter went to left back. The last changes saw Duncan Herron come on for Thomas Delaney and Luke Kemp replaced Jimmy Boyd. Luke Kemp switched the ball to O'Shea and darted into the box, the cross came in for him but he headed over the bar. It was better from Dollingstown but a deserved win for the away side today.

EH: We lack quality, we will be making enquiries in the transfer window as we are desperate for more players. These lads are working hard but myself and Duncan have identified our weaknesses and what improvements we need to make. I empathise with the supporters, they want to see better results but we need a better quality player. McGurgan is light training and he will be an extra man in midfield that will do a great job.

Dollingstown vs Glenavon
8th December 2037

=Glenavon result.webp

It's a third game in a week for Dollingstown and the visitors to Planters Park were 7th place Glenavon. Henderson went with a 4-2-3-1 formation with Delaney and Kee in midfield, Jimmy Boyd on the left, Marc O'Hara on the right and Glenn Hughes playing up front. Thomas Delaney gave away a free-kick on the edge of the box and Johnny Corry hit a low shot that Mackle could only get fingertips to but not stop going over the line on 14 minutes. Johnny Corry was proving to be a handful and Kyle McNally couldn't keep up with him and fouled him inside the box to award Glenavon a penalty on 24 minutes. Craig Rooney took the penalty and slotted to the keepers left making it 2-0. It was totally one sided with no creativity from Dollingstown, Henderson took off O'Hara and half-time and brought on Simon Young. Mulholland was doing a good job at the back keeping the scoreline at 2-0. Boyd moved to the forward position and Hughes was replaced by Martin O'Shea who went to the left wing on 57 minutes. The football got better and Boyd was unlucky when he hit a ball towards goal from 30 yards which saw the keeper scrambling to keep it out. It's plain to see there are problems at Dollingstown and the players are clearly playing above their standard. David Kee and Andrew Mulholland are battling hard and Henderson needs to keep building this team. Goals are a massive problem for Dollingstown, six shots on target with only one worrying the keeper. The window in January is massive for the safety of this club.

Coleraine vs Dollingstown
12th December 2037

=Coleraine result.webp

Henderson stated there was no need to panic in the local paper this week with Ferguson and himself doing everything they can to strengthen the squad in January. The league table made for bleak reading sitting four points behind 11th place Harland and Wolff Welders. If Dollingstown were severely desperate for points as it could look a lot worse after Christmas. Duncan Herron and Thomas Delaney partnered in midfield, David Kee went in defence replacing Kyle McNally and Coyle and Boyd linked up in attack. Andrew Mulholland played the ball long into the box and Skelly put his arm across the face of Michael Coyle and the referee gave the penalty! There was no booking from the referee. David Kee placed the ball down and with a breath hit to the left of the goal and the keeper kept it out! That was certainly the chance. Coleraine caught Dollingstown high up the pitch and the direct ball to Finnegan from King saw him go one on one with Mackle and make it 1-0 to the home side. Ryan Blair fed the ball into the six yard box and it was all to easy for Patterson to win the header and beat Mackle to make it 2-0 before half-time. Kyle McNally came on just before half-time allowing Kee to move into midfield and on 64 minutes he gave away a penalty bringing down Finnegan inside the box. It's Skelly against Mackle and he beats him comfortably to make it 3-0. It was going from bad to worse and there was no sign of when this nightmare was going to end.

Dollingstown vs Ballymena United
19th December 2037

=Ballymena result.webp

Wintry conditions saw a deserted Planters Park for the visit of 9th place Ballymena Utd. Johnny McGurgan was likely to miss the rest of December through injury but a return in the new year brought excitement to supporters on social media. The match symbolised the weather conditions but it was a close contest, it almost went the way of Dollongstown when Morton's error was failed to be capitalised on by Boyd or Coyle. Michael Coyle done well to get in behind on a few occasions but the final ball left a lot to be desired. Kyle McNally put in a much better performance at the back and was rightly awarded the man of the match. A 0-0 draw in Dollingstown gives Henderson's side a point and moves them to within three points of Harland and Wolff Welders.

EH: It was a better performance and the midfield looked lively. Herron done well as did McNally and Young. We should be buoyed by a clean sheet, we play Harland next so it's a chance to go level on points with them.

MID ULSTER CUP QUARTER FINAL DRAW

=Mid Ulster Cup Quarter final draw.webp

WARWICK: We are not concerned with Dollingstown
Harland and Wolff Welders manager Tom Warwick has opened a can of worms stating his side are looking up rather than behind them. "I've got massive, massive respect for Euan Henderson and Duncan Ferguson. I saw what Ferguson done at Fylde when I was player in the football league and Henderson was an exceptional player. I'm not opening a war of words with him but I'm simply saying that we don't fear them. They've beaten us twice this season but when it's all said and done I think we will be the ones who survive. This is also my first job in management and it's a tough start for both of us in our careers. If Henderson's managerial career is like his playing career then he will do really well. He's certainly started with a tough challenge!"

Dollingstown vs Harland and Wolff Welders
22nd December 2037

=Harland and Wolff Welders Result.webp

The first of two pivotal matches over Christmas, Harland and Wolff Welders followed by Glentoran on Boxing Day. A win in both could put Dollingstown into 10th place. Euan Henderson didn't enter into a war of words with Tom Warwick, simply playing it down by saying there's a lot of football still to be played and Tom's side aren't quite out of the woods yet. Henderson also gave an indication that there will be new players joining the club in January in much needed positions and told the media that the rebuild is only just beginning. He didn't mention what players will be joining or who will be leaving the current team. He was focused on the game ahead and wanted to make it a third win over Harland and Wolff Welders. The lack of supporters didn't deter Dollingstown and just after 5 minutes Simon Young crossed low so Jimmy Boyd could rifle in the shot to make it 1-0! Delaney's pass was cut out and West ran forward into space taking a shot which was tipped away by Mackle, Dallas went to slot the rebound and Mackle made a great second save. Harland and Wolff Welders went with two up front to start the second half but on 54 minutes, Simon Young hit a lovely free-kick from 20 yards that flew past the keeper to make it 2-0! Dollingstown looking on course for victory! It was three against two as Mulholland and McNally backed off, the ball was played in to Mark Mackle who had a golden chance but he hit the outside of the post. Dollingstown were close to securing a nice victory with just a few minutes to see out. O'Hara set up Delaney who took a shot from outside the box and it clipped the bar on 90 minutes. Dollingstown looked leggy and Dallas beat young Luke Walker to cross in for Mark Mackle to win the header beating Ciaran Mackle to pull a late goal back! The last thing Dollingstown want to do is give away possession. Dallas again was allowed space to work in but his cross was caught my Mackle and he took the ball to the ground. Tom Warwick was urging his team to get forwad with seconds to go, Henderson kept calm on the touchline. Mackle beat McNally and got a shot away which was tipped behind for a corner. Marc O'Hara cleared the danger but the referee still had not blown up. Is there one last chance? No, it's all over! A win for Dollingstown and delight on the touchline! What a win but it was close at the end.

EH: You can see where the tiredness set in and fair play to Harland because they put numbers in attack and tried to capitalise on that. The defence were really on it tonight and their performance kept us in front. Mackle done brilliant tonight and he deserves to be on the winning team. We're on level points now and it can really go either way. We can enjoy tonight's victory, we have Christmas and then another tough one at Glentoran who beat Crusaders today.

Glentoran vs Dollingstown
26th December 2037

=Glentoran result.webp

The festivities were over and it was back to league action with a trip to Belfast to face Glentoran who had came into good form recently. Both sides had another fixture in two days time so squad rotation is likely. Henderson made changes with 17 year old Walker starting at left back and 16 year old Barry Ewart in central defence. 16 year old Luke Kemp got a start next to Jimmy Boyd in attack. Jimmy Boyd was struggling with his hamstring but indicated to Henderson that he wanted to carry on on 11 minutes. Glentoran came close with a corner in the opening minutes and look a threat, the same ball was played in to dangerman Barry on 22 minutes and he headed into the gaping net to make it 1-0. Henderson made the call on 28 minutes to take off Boyd for Michael Coyle. Dollingstown played out from the back nicely releasing Young on the right, he sent the ball over the top which Coyle battled hard to win and he crossed low and won his side a corner. David Kee and Andrew Mullholland came on for Delaney and Ewart, the ball through the middle was effective for Coyle but his shot was too easy for the keeper to save. Coyle turned provider on 74 minutes with a ball over the defence for Luke Kemp who put it past the keeper to get his 2nd of the season! Three extra minutes went up and a point would be a good result for Dollingstown if they can hang on. Gardner put the ball in but McNally was there to head away, Young scrambled it forward and Luke Walker ran with it into space, David Kee took it in midfield and slowed the tempo down, O'Shea took it wide and played it into the box but it was sliced away only as far as Young, he tried to cross but it was blocked and Herron picked it up and won his side a free-kick. David Kee stood over the free-kick knowing it was the last chance of the game, he delivered a great ball towards the far post and Mulholland got up to head towards to the top corner but the keeper pulled off a fantastic stop to secure a point for his team.

EH: Great to come back like we did, Kemp done well and took his goal really well. For 16 he has a lot of potential and has been a handful in training. It's a game of cat and mouse between us and Harland, we move above them today but they could easily move ahead of us in a few days, it's going to go to the wire.

Warrenpoint Town vs Dollingstown
28th December 2037

=Warrenpoint result.webp

It was the last fixture of the calendar year and a chance for Dollingstown to build on their recent win and a draw. Karl McNally and Marc O'Hara started on the flanks with Luke Kemp and Michael Coyle starting in attack. Andrew Mulholland took a horrendous first touch and it allowed Morris to steal it, set up Elliott who beat Mackle on 27 minutes. Marc O'Hara found Luke Kemp a few minutes later and his shot was pushed away by the keeper at the near post. Some nice football was on display from Dollingstown, the diagonal pass from O'Haro to Kemp who nodded it down for Delaney, he played it through to Coyle but his right footed effort was turned away, nice football from Dollingstown but the hard work was undone when Kelly took it on the edge of the box and floated it in for O'Neill to head over Mackle making it 2-0 just before the interval. Dollingstown were unlucky on 50 minutes when Michael Coyle's strike from outside the box bounced back off the crossbar. Simon Young and Martin O'Shea came on for the last 20 minutes but it was Marty Morris celebrating a few minutes later when he wasn't picked up at the far post and converted Wright's cross making it three. It's a forgettable day at the office for Dollingstown as they lose to Warrenpoint and Harland and Wolff Welders pick up three points.

EH: It's that time of the year when we can bring players in and we've got a few players joining the club in a few days when the window opens who we are proud to announce. That doesn't mean negativity for the rest of the squad, they all have a part to play but to be where we want to be we need reinforcements and we are bringing players here who have experience. There'll be a mix of youth and experience in the squad.

DOLLINGSTOWN OPEN THE WINDOW WITH SIX NEW SIGNINGS!

Jake Whelan, Goalkeeper (Free)
30 year old experienced Goalkeeper Jake Whelan joins Dollingstown from Newington from the Bluefin Sport PIL. Newington are top of the table and have only conceded 11 goals all season and the keeper was in goof form this season. Henderson had been keeping a close eye on the shot stopper and was a known admirer. He is likely to take the number 1 spot at Dollingstown.

Ross McKendry, Defender (Free)
25 year old Ross McKendry is a full back who can play on the left and right. He is a natural Left Back and also joins from Newington however he made two appearances for Derriaghy earlier in the season and the rules in Northern Ireland state a player cannot feature for more than two clubs in a season so Ross will not be available to Dollingstown until next season. Ross is known for his work rate which is a big plus for Euan Henderson.

Kurtis Kane, Midfielder (Free)
29 year old Central Midfielder Kurtis Kane joins the club on a free from Annagh UInited after making 21 appearances this season in the Bluefin Sport Championship. He is an experienced midfielder who is mature and level headed making calm decisions when under pressure. Kane is likely to become a first team regular at the club.

Kyle Morgan, Winger (Free)
30 year old Kyle Morgan is a Left Winger who joins from Lurgan Celtic. A good player who is quick and can cross a ball will prove to be a handful for defences in the Premier Division. Euan Henderson described Morgan as a player similar to himself and will excite the supporters at Dollingstown.

Nicky Quinn, Winger (Free)
31 year old Nicky Quinn is a Right Winger who is excellent at free-kicks and penalties. He comes on a free from Islandmagee having scored 4 goals and claimed 6 assists in 25 appearances. Nicky will offer competition to Simon Young down the Right Wing.

Sean Sheridan, Striker (Free)
30 year old Sheridan joins from Lurgan Celtic where he already has 10 league goals this season. A quick and skilful Striker who can finish is an asset Henderson could not turn down. Sheridan is a physical player and will hopefully supply the goals Dollingstown so desperately need.

EH: We've monitored the signings closely over the last few months and they have been impressive at their previous clubs. We are working to build a squad here that can compete on all fronts and we believe the players we brought in will improve us in the league and work hard to keep us up. The players are excited to get going and they're fit and ready to go. Working under Duncan Ferguson was a big pull for them and the chairman has been brilliant in helping us get these deals done.

DF: We've handpicked players we want at this club and there is time in the window to do business if we need to. I can't fault the effort from the players, they are young and inexperienced but they've stepped up and showed us they have a future at Dollingstown. We've been watching teams when we can and we have our scout Sean Murray who has travelled the country watching countless matches to better the team. The second half of the season is going to decide whether we stay up or we go down, it's tight, it's competitive but it's nothing we aren't used to! This club will fight to the very end and we want players who can push themselves through those barriers.
