Most of them are with the reserves though, and will be nowhere near the squad.

I think it's in the boardroom where the issues lie.
Of course it is. The leadership of any organisation, with its vision and values, is the real driver of how it performs. It permeates from the top and is the catalyst.

Nevertheless, I'm not overly disagreeing with @davek as the issue at the top has facilitated a 'job for the boys' mentality even though there's concerns.

Have the reserves really supported the first team? If it hasn't and continues not to do so, it's fair to question whether they should be shipped off.

I want the right people in the right roles: if they're an Evertonian great, but it must come after being the best person for the role and not before.

How nice is it to see a raring to go Manager coaching players properly, having a proper game plan, using subs properly, celebrating after every goal including at the final whistle and feeling the emotions of a full house Goodison with pretty much everyone behind him.

Could not ask for a better start than this. Cannot get ahead of ourselves as our league position is perilous but if we can build up a bit of form and get to safety, i predict good things to come in the future for Frankie's Toffee's.

Think we might finally have found the right man, fingers crossed.

He's a passionate man isn't he. Nice to see him embrace the fans and Goodison.

Obviously it is ridiculously early to give any sort of assessment on the new manager.

However the only thing that I will say at this stage is that if I were in the shoes of a player and I had 2 managers - 1 saying " get behind the ball keep it tight and try to nick a goal on the break or through a set piece " and another saying " I want you to play on the front foot , win back possession quickly and play attacking football " - I know which one I'd rather play under.

Of course there has to be organisation and discipline but if your mindset is to attack rather than defend it must be so much more invigorating , interesting and fun to play.
I did say that the football frank plays was great to watch but nobody wanted him.how fans change in a couple of weeks.?

Was thinking about taking a break and giving the next one or two home games a miss before Lampard turned up. Absolutely no chance now.
Yes me too if the FSW was still incharge I would be missing the next few games and after 64yrs of watching I was not going to renew my season ticket. Thank you Frank for making me enjoy football again.

They're at FF, mostly local ex players who have influence at all levels of the club on a daily basis. They are long term and the Lampard influx are short term.

That's the issue here. The clique below Lampard's new team who have outlasted 6 managerial changes will always be there providing the (substandard and self serving) culture of the club.

Brands tried to challenege it - ineffectively - by looking to impose a quality control on the academy / U23s via a salary review, and he brought another ex-player in Baines into the fold. Brands didn't last long after that.

Make no mistake: that clique have a strangle hold on the club and it's merely an inconvenience for them at the moment that they dont have one of their own in the frontline of the first team coaching staff as the galloot has been effectively demoted. They'll just wait for the results to dip and make matters worse behind the scenes and get shut of Lampard and co.

The opportunity was their to cut the head of the Hydra off by punting Ferguson but that opportunity (again) was not taken.

All the strategic reviews in the world make no sense if that fundamental issue isn't dealt with: the clique need to be weeded out of the club for all time. We all know the names. The'yve been around for the best part of a decade surviving manager after manager being sacked and the club sinking from top 4/5 to near relegation.

People need to 'kin wake up to this reality. Lampard's good start is fine, but it wont go anywhere while that fundamental problem remains. Every downturn in form will quickly be accelerated into crisis by the clique.

What a difference a new manager makes eh.

It's going to be a slow process , the manager will be learning on the job just as much as the team will be to change their style. So the fans need to have patience , could take a few years to get to where we need to be. I am more than happy to give him all the time he needs to shape his team , whether we sit mid table for a year or two or actually push on quickly.

How typically Everton, that we have come through a period of huge turmoil and stumbled into the right decisions almost by accident.

Lampard does look like a really good fit for our club. It should also be noted that we have completely overhauled the squad this season and addressed most of our problem areas. Gray, Townsend, Mykolenko, Patterson, El Ghazi, Ali and Van De Beek make a tremendous difference.

We now have loads of depth and quality. In midfield and forward areas and should be able to cope with injuries and suspensions. We also have options to play in many different ways.

The Godfrey injury leaves us light, at CB. Let’s hope the magic Lampard has cast on Holgate doesn’t work out.

All told, the future looks much rosier and I have confidence we can save ourselves and push on.
