It genuinely worries me how bi-polar our fanbase are becoming? Lampard is already being declared the second coming after just one game na d a couple of pressers? I am pleased he is here, i suspect he might be. Agood appointment, but please dont deify him so soon, because after a few defeats (and they will come) the same people will be calling for his crucifixion. Temper what we have just witnessed ( a good positive performance) with our opponents ( a poor side, who by and large played poorly). I am not putting a downer on yesterday, i loved it, and was very happy with everything, but it was one game guys, get a grip!

They should. They deserted the club when we all needed to stick together; now they have the brass neck to be posting tripe about "never forgiving" the people who stayed loyal to the club.

GTF!

The Benitez revolt was juvenile.

Those people in thje thick of it wont ever get my respect, because it was an indulgence for them to destablise things at the club so they could be proven right.
Are you implying that the away going supporters who were very outspoken about Benitez with all these banners and chants, are disloyal traitors who abandoned the club too?

By the time we had injured coming back the club was in crisis - and handing these jellyfish a crisis to handle was an impossible task for them.

The thing with the Benitez stuff for me (and getting back to Lampard as it's his thread) is that a lot of people are going to set another mnanager up for a fall here because they've sided with these players again in their haste to bury Benitez with the failures of the current season.

Those players - make NO mistake - will get Lampard under the microscope VERY soon.
You can't even hide your own desire for the team to fail so you can be proven right, can you?
Let me ask you something - if somehow Lampard makes these players perform well, would you acknowledge that you were wrong? Or once again they would be jellyfish failures for not getting us to top 6 this season?

Definitely fair to say we should temper our excitement going forward given our many false dawns in recent years. Nothing wrong with enjoying that result though, I think we all needed it.

The important thing for me is that it gives us momentum going into the coming games and gives the players confidence, not just in themselves but in the managers tactics and methods as well.

It's not just the result. It's the way he speaks, the way he does things etc. It's a breath of fresh air compared to the last idiot we had in charge.

And I think you are being wat OTT saying our fan base (as in everyone?) are declaring him the second coming. It's just nice to have a bit of positivity for once is it not? Or should we just be doom and gloom forever?

Its the first decent day and the first bit of hope we've had in months. Let's enjoy a good result and a great atmosphere instead of nitpicking.

We'll have bad results with Lampard, he'll make duff calls and players will have crap games but all I see from people today is acknowledgement that we were great yesterday, we seem to like the manager and the football (which we've had precious little reason to of late) and that we have some hope back.

It was a must win yesterday end of.. just catching up on highlights and post match interviews.. sounds funny a manager who has lost his voice during the game.

He's the same age as me for god sake there will be ups and downs. What has annoyed me a bit though is saying Brentford are a poor team etc... Chelsea/west ham. Needed extra time city beat Fulham 4 1 (same level as Brentford) and it's a master class from pep.. media does my head in ?

Let’s bin all the ‘Tory’ comments now too. I get they are all light hearted quips etc but if you listen to the end of his post match interview I’d say he’s aware of those comments when he says “I’m not going to hide where I’m from, I’m from London, well Essex actually”

Can’t think of any other context to why he’s said that?

Comes across a genuine bloke and seems to already ‘get’ us, so I’d say all the ‘tory’ comments need to stop as they are irrelevant

This a million times over. In fact your post should be pinned at the top of the board. Leave the Tory shouts to the kopites trying to prove how scouse and with it they are

I don't think anyone is saying he is the second coming. But the buzz around the place makes a huge difference. And that didn't happen with the last manager.

You say they are a poor side, yet they beat us last time we played them wheres we comfortably put the game to bed yesterday with a performance that I'm not sure we ever got under the previous manager.
