2021/22 Frank Lampard

Considering what I have seen and heard of Lampard, I believe he will end up being Moyes-MarkII (before the missiles rain down). Hold on, hold on. Let me finish.

He comes across as a methodical student of the game and tactically aware of situation. Willing to curb his own intentions to set up a pragmatic games if needed. Talks well (straight-shooting bxxtarx ain't he), Doesn't thrown players under-the-bus unless absolutely needed, keeps fans at the forefront, believes in "People's club" image. He seems more down-to-earth. One has to believe, Moyes had it, whether they like or hate him.

Where Lampard is going "One-up" Moyes is this: Better players, access to better resources, A "winning" mentality, A bigger stomach for fight.

So all I can see is sunshine in the future :D.

Frank has been an important part of a great team in the past. He is now understanding what it is to be a part of a great club.

He has to dismantle the squad that’s for certain

I don’t expect our manager to never make mistakes though and there’s far too much of that from some posters on here.

The fact is no one on here would have pushed for a back 5 before United Chelsea and Leicester, no many would have had Iwobi in any Lampard 11, lots didn’t want Mykolenko playing after those first few appearances.

It’s so easy in hindsight just to pick what he did wrong and say that anyone could see this but I’d say that barely anyone would have predicted how he got it right.
Throw in the mix the injury problems he’s faced and the inept Refereeing decisions bordering lunacy I think he’s done ok. He’s also had the humility to express his own shortcomings and the fact he needs to improve aswell as the team. That’s a good trait in my book.

Marsch believes his players can take inspiration from historical and sporting figures and quoted Gandhi to them before Sunday’s defeat at Arsenal. Pacifist Gandhi may seem a strange choice to motivate Leeds, and his words are hardly Churchillan, but history graduate Marsch felt his quote about self-belief was apt.

The father of Indian independence said: “If I have the belief that I can do it, I shall surely acquire the capacity to do it, even if I may not have it at the beginning.” Marsch read out this saying to his players in the dressing room before they went out to face Arsenal in an attempt to make them believe more.

The Leeds head coach explained: “I use so many figures. I’ve used Muhammad Ali a few times, Michael Jordan is a guy I’m inspired by, Phil Jackson, I would start dating myself if I went back to Vince Lombardi! In the past I have gone back to the 1998 France football team, the 2008 Road to Redemption gold medal basketball team. I love basketball culture, the way they combine university graduates with inner-city kids. There are also historical figures like Gandhi, Mother Teresa, presidents like JFK who have meant something to where we are in the world.

“I have 52 excerpts of books that I sometimes give players when I want to reach them and then hundreds of quotes. I love quotes, I love learning from people of the past, sports figures, historical figures, whoever. The key is learning which messages to use at the right time. Here we are in the stress of relegation, trying to stay strong in our commitment, just trying to find ways to motivate our collective mentality.”

I have just seena. Vid from twitter of Frank talking to the team in the dressing room after the game, he makes a massive point of singling Seamus and Richy out for praise.

Unless we return to an imminent danger of relegation his job should be safe. We simply cannot do with more upheaval on that front for a couple of years.

I would be disappointed if more relegation scraps were all that was on offer, but I don't expect us to be pulling up trees either for a while.

I'd like to see an identity to how we play and steady if unspectacular progress. The Premier League is fortunately for us rather poor so any improvement not built on sand can still result in some giddy progress to the fringes of a European place.

The two year period to the opening of the stadium seems to me the perfect length of time to allow him shape the squad as he wants it, within the limits of course. Any change in the managers position should be avoided in almost all scenarios until then at least.

That's not to say give him a free pass either but I don't think the club can absorb yet another new face in the dugout unless something really unfortunate happens or threatens to happen.

Sadly I'd accept a few seasons of mediocrity provided we can see evidence of a pathway being laid to a better future come the opening of Bramley Moore.
