2021/22 Frank Lampard

I used to work with a guy who lived in Scotland with his family but drove to Northampton every week and stayed in a hotel Monday to Thursday for work. For over ten years.

It’s not that far fetched or even unusual for football managers.
Someone at my work a few years ago would do the same, hotel during the week then go back to his family on the weekends (10 hour drive). Think he was on a one or two year contract so probably didn't want uproot his family

The only thing with the Tory Frank thing, is it seems to stem back to an interview over 15 years ago. The Tory party, under David Cameron in his "hug a hoodie" phase was a vastly different one to this incarnation. Indeed, it's probably more to the left of Starmers Labour. If they are his ideological beliefs, it's likely he would vote for Starmer now.
you sir, are a crashing bore. politics is the problem not the solution. it doesnt help anything at Everton spouting divisive political nonsence. good day.

Brucey has told all our West Brom players they have to live within an hours drive of the Training ground, if they don't want to move their families he has said they earn enough to rent an apartment. Different rule for himself though as he staying in Cheshire, he says Managers get sacked so moving should not be expected for them. Lol

How so mate?

Are the crashing bores not the people who seem obsessed with what someone said.over 15 years ago re politics?

If you re read the post, you'd see I'm avoiding being divisive, and arguing against divisive labels.

Mourinho spent 3 years at Man U living in a hotel

benitez would drive to newcastle from liverpool everyday - apparently

It’s not that far fetched or even unusual for football managers.

He can & does fly home in 40 minutes.
Its not the 1980s mate.

For a 'normal' family, I understand that viewing lens. But in the rarified air of top football playing/management, the focal lengths for families involved are different....they just are. A helicopter trip or two (or three or four) times a week is totally accessible. England is a small country (area wise).

She has a job based their. Why should she move?

However I understand your point, but given that football managers have a short job life expectancy, and Everton average two or three a season, I wouldn’t uproot my family for it either.
Yes, all fair comments. I guess with all the ways people communicate, interact and travel these days it's not such an issue as it would have once been.

Yes Baggies fan, Everton my "bit on the side", like a secret lover, ? over 40 years so I'm quite faithful ?

Don't think those two teams will come up Oil?

We will finish 10th next year, with a controlled influx of the correct players both youth and experience

Its going to be a good experience for everyone watching the team grow over a period of four or five windows (So wont happen overnight)
I moved this. It isn't really about transfers and I'm going to say something about Lampard so good enough.

I'd take 17th now. Any place that isn't relegation is fine so long as we spend next season getting better. And someone will ask "how can we finish 17th and get better?" The answer is by growing our young players (which also requires signing some, we hardly have any) and working toward a consistent style of play. And so we're clear by style I simply mean a way of playing and not that it necessarily should be stylish. I'm all for effective but actually effective systems usually end up being those capable of scoring a decent amount because scoring goals is important. Shocking I know.

We have to start looking toward developing continuity within a system. It's a major key and frankly having the balls to work through periods of meh results in pursuit of reaching a place where everybody works seamlessly together is necessary. I have questions for Frank here, he went into the bunker when we struggled this season past. I get why everyone is about to tell me once again that he had no choice but we're going to lose games again. How does he respond? It's a major question to me.

I'm sure as the summer goes we'll get more people saying what you have there and expecting us to shoot right back up. I can't really get there because our squad is worse than at least the top 12 teams in the league. On top of that all of those teams aside from arguably Newcastle have either a better manager or a greater level of the aforementioned continuity. We're also not clearly better than 13 to 15 nor Leeds. I think 12th would be a rousing success tbh. We're years away. I just hope for progress.

We have been 12th or above 18 times out of the last 20 seasons.

In now way would i except 17th this season.

There is absolutely nothing between the teams from 8th and 17th place in this league, all you need is half decent manager (which we never had last year) and a bit of luck with injuries and decisions.
Regardless of what business we do i would expect us to be around 10th-12th and comfortable.

Yeah I hope mate. The last 20 years aren't exactly relevant to the current team though and the current team is pretty rubbish.

Who knows, maybe a big turnaround is right around the corner and it'll happen without warning. I don't like that there aren't really the signs though.

I don't care, as it's not a PPB and honestly nobody has seen his ballot.

But from the point of clarity and accuracy, saying you might vote for someone 15 years ago, who stood for very different things, doesn't mean you still vote for them. It sounds a rather simple thing to say, but you'd be amazed how many people can't grasp that concept.

Like I'm a died in the wool Labour voter, but at the last locals I voted green as they are a better representation of my views. Does that now make me a green forever? I wouldn't say so.
I share the same political alliegance as yourself but in all honesty ( and this isn't aimed at you , it could have been any of the views expressed but I can't do the Zat multi quote thingy ) do we honestly care what political party a manager or player for that matter supports ?

If we get to the point of choosing an employee based on their political leanings where does it end ? Their religion / teetotal or not / veggie or non veggie or colour of their skin.

Come on guys get a grip . If an employee expresses , racist or homophobic views thats truly reprehensible and a bar to them being employed but just because they support a particular political party - nah.

Judge him on the job that he does as a football manager.

Personally I'd hope to move up the table or at least be comfortably safe well before the end of March. But agree with the sentiment, evolution is needed.
