The thing is it is you and others obsessed with Benitez. The rest of us acknowledge the situation for what it was - another manager who failed trying to steer a rudderless ship.

Frankel has started off well but we've been here MANY times before post Moyes - lets see how things are in 6-12 months time as this squad have form for throwing in the towel.
Wrong, I'm in here talking about lampard and how since he has come in, things have clearly changed.

You are here praising the previous manager and straining to think of whatever you can to try and praise him for, whilst also trying to make out like those changes are going to be what has the most impact and that any any positives going forward are going to be because of him.

It's a results business correct and I think Benitez's problem was he was more focused on sorting the off the field matters which ultimately seen a drop in performances on the pitch.

The performances and results were fine until we lost about 8-9 players to injury then he seemed to be focusing on the medical/recruitment departments which started to see on the field suffer as a result.

He rightfully lost his job but I think he's laid the foundations for Frankel to get results and push us on.

The fact Benitez had to even waste his time trying to sort off the field shenanigans out shows how poorly run the club is/was in terms of the Chairman/DOF. He should have been able to solely focus on the training ground as any manager should.

But according to the Cult of Benitez, these were all things he was brought into do, as well as manage ????

Ps- are you still having relations, with your life size blow up Benitez doll ?

This is the @ForeverBlue92 version of Kenwright level delusion about our board being 'revered'.

But folks, we need to keep this thread about Frank Lampard, not Benitez or the aforementioned forum member.

You mean ONE game lad? lol

I pray Lampard can push us forward because we desperately need some stability at the club but I have reservations long term as I dont trust half of this squad not to start reverting to old habits once the new manager bounce wears off - we've seen it under the last 5 managers we even started well results wise under Benitez the Bogeyman!

Yes, the atmosphere around the club has changed immeasurably in that one week. Yes it's early days, but are you denying the change in atmosphere? Not just what we saw on the pitch performance wise, but within the fan base, the media coverage around the club etc.

We started well results wise under the previous manager, but performances were still poor. Lampards one game had the result and the performance.

Sorry if I want to have a bit of optimism now that we have a hungry, driven manager who has helped lift the negative feeling both within and around the club.

The problem with that statement is that fans have short memories - could you imagine what Goodison would have been like last season in those first 8-9 games under Ancelotti with us in the top 4 playing good football?

Do you not remember how boss it was in El Loco's 1st season watching us play boss football with Lukaku on fire as we sat in 5th?

The problem is we have a good few months or season then the same problems start to rear their heads with this squad and its not long before the players look like they cant string two passes together.

Under Martinez's first season it was "Moyes who?"

Under Carlo it was "Silva who?"

Now one game in its "Raffa who?"

Lets be more cautious this time because I guarantee a few good results / performances and the talk of europe is back on the agenda and when these players inevitably have their poor patch and results tumble the pressure will be amplified on the manager and its a repeat cycle of the last 5 or 6 seasons.
