The vast majority of posters on here, have clearly stated, that they will back him even if we get relegated.

As long as he has a good go at sorting out the mess fat boy left behind and tries to get the team playing footy again, rather than just webbing the ball up to a statue up front, the fans will back him.

Easy to say that when we're 16th expectations are so low currently.

I guarantee if we finish the season strongly and spend a bit of coin in the summer on some good players that narrative will change when suddenly fans expect a run at the european places next season.

And why shouldn’t the fans expect that ?

We have a core of good players, that can be added to, with the acquisition of the right balance of players and the out of contract dead wood shifted.

I think after Benitez, the fans would of got behind, literally anyone else. The fact that Frank is a very personable, genuine and likeable fella. That will go far in most fans eyes. He also seems to be able to sort out the squads mentality issues that have been soooo apparent for nearly everyone to see. It's looking bright, regardless of every games scoreline, He has my support.

They should do if we spend a bit of cash... but having a good team on paper doesn't mean everything (look at Man Utd) there needs to be a culture shift, gutting of the playing squad + medical/conditioning teams and the recruitment team in addition.

Some fans acknowledged that and were happy for the last manager to smash it up whereas others werent willing to give said manager a chance to finish the job even if it meant short term pain for long term gain.

If there isnt a change at boardroom/Chairman level or a strong capable DOF appointed who can push the above then I fear for Frankel long term unless he can pull off miracles like Moyes did for years.

I see what your saying but the fans are not quite that fickle, let's not forget Moyes was here for 11 years, He only left because he was offered the biggest job in English football at the time, he didn't get booted out through fan pressure....how many cups did we win in them 11 years ???
He held the job down because first of all he understood the fan base, he knew that hard work had to come first. The fans at least demand that here. Frank seems the type to loose sleep if we loose. That is the very least we want in a manager. He has to care as the fans do. He will get a chance here of that I have no doubt.

He will also get a lot of leeway, as quite simply he isn’t as divisive and repugnant as Benitez.

The thing is mate, we shouldn't be near 16th. The players arent that bad. In 1 week, we hammered a side who are above us, missing 3 or 4 key players as well.

The team is mentally fragile, but it's not bad.

I've seen bad. Tony Thomas, Gemmill, Pembridge, Mitch Ward, Hottiger etc. They werent capable of turning in performances like Saturday, never mind with 1 weeks notice.

On paper this squad is probably as good as Moyes final squad, but it's been badly managed over quite a long time, and some awful cultures have seeped in.

Again I can see where you're coming from, Benitez did some good here we will all agree, probably signing Gray and Townsend for coppers were the high points.

The problem where his position became untenable was his baffling way of setting up a team, especially against what should be lesser opposition.
It became dire and so predictable, teams loved to play us as they'd know they could go at us from the start without any resistance or threat coming their way.

It became hopeless coupled with the insane game plan of playing Rondon week in week out.
I felt sorry for Rondon too mate, everybody with an interest in football could see he was unfit, that's the kindest way I can put it.

Why didn't he have the savvy Frank had yesterday and junk the target man thing?....especially as we never had one.

Yesterday's squad was exactly what Benitez also had at his disposal.

As I say I was behind him for months but it became hopeless and would never have got better in my humble opinion.

You can replace **Rafael Benitez** with **Marco Silva** **Ronald Koeman** **Samuel Alladyce** **Carlo Ancelotti** and its the same ending to the story.

The club isn't set up for a successful side at present yet the fans demand one and that's the problem therefore you need a manager to do what Moyes did and overachieve to keep the Wolves from the door so speak.

I pray it works for Frankel as we need stability but this romantic ideal of an Everton fanbase happily accepting 12th place 2 seasons on the spin because they love the manager and he gets us is naive.

He'll get grace this season and probably next but after that the pressure will be on as it was under Koeman, Silva, Carlo in their 2nd full seasons. Lampard will need a lot to go for him such as luck with injuries and recruitment if those departments dont get the radical overhaul needed.

He'll be given more leeway than Benitez but he wont be given the sort of time that Marius naively believes should results/performances start declining.

Even Ancelotti started to be questioned within 18 months.
What sort of time did I suggest? Not sure I mentioned any time frame, so not sure where the naivety comes in considering you have just agreed he will be given more leeway.

All 5 you mention above were one trick ponies though. The parting of Moyse coming out of the blue did us more damage than many will probably realise. We had a brief respite under Martinez but the next 5 were knee jerk appointments, maybe apart from Sam who came to do a job...and did it.

Frank may bomb, I know that, he may be here for 10 years and we see silverware.

It's just that this does not feel like another knee jerk, it feels this time like it's the start of a long term strategy.
Not just because of the great display yesterday either, it just feels different how this has been executed.

I think a lot of our fans will also respect the fact that he’s a promising young manager, who won’t always get it right.

There will be a lot of challenges he faces here that he hasn’t come across before in his short managerial career. He’ll be questioned at times, inevitably. But I think he’ll have the majority of the fans behind him through tough times.
