He is right in what he is saying.
Even with a lot of changes in a preseason game we should be good enough to beat that team last night.
I would say to the board get me some players or I am out of here that squad is rotten.
There are to many not good enough. Gomes, Keane, Davies, Gray, and most of the fringe players as well.
Saying that the board should be honest if they are not bringing players in due to thier passed incompetence, they should say goodbye to him as he clearly can't get a tune out of the squad available.
That game was like so many others we have seen over the last couple of seasons.
Everton and the truth from the top don't really go together though in reality,so expect a load of silence from them.,
Or Bill looking forward to yet more good times next season.

But he's tried all formations and none of them are a success.
Im not sure there is a winning one. Until the midfield can relieve pressure off the defence by keeping hold of it for more than 3 seconds i think any formation is going to struggle. Our possesion stats last season, and tbh the season before, were atrocious. If you never have the ball then your defenders no matter what formation are constantly under the cosh.
Bottom line is Evertons recruitment of midfielders is hitting home. We simply dont keep the ball in one of the most importnant areas of the pitch.

Tom Davies, Iwobi and Doucoure, it’s not really surprising is it?
 
Any other manager would be getting pelters for Lampard's record. We have played one good game against Leeds with this team. That's it. Some embarrassing results and never a notion of responsibility taken from Lampard. My worry with him is he thinks he is hard done by all the time, but he walked into management based on a playing career. Where others struggled to move up the ranks in management, he thinks he is entitled to top 6 manager status without doing any of the work. Remember him giving it to Klopp on the sideline at Anfield with Chelsea? He's an annoying [Poor language removed] is Jurgen, but you can't say he didn't move up the ranks deservedly.

The issue is that we have loads of (albeit terrible) centre halves, but not enough (even decent standard) central midfielders.

Doucoure, garbage
Davies, suitable only to play at least two division's below the Premier League
Gomes, a nothing player
Allan, cannot run
Gbamin, again a nothing player
Alli, last looked like he wanted to play football about 5 years ago

They are all crap, to a player. Any combination of them in a 2/3/4 or even 5 is going to be crap. We won't be able to sell any of them either, and there is no money to bring in new faces it seems.

Actually, ignore my first sentence. We have loads of crap centre halves and loads of crap central midfielders - haha! lol

That's it, isn't it?

Get in a manager who utilizes the strengths of this team and we will be OK. Counter attacking footy. That's all we can do now. Get better at set piece defending and low block, and hit teams on the counter.

I'm not being horrible mate, but he inherited a team with 1 win in 14. Think he won 6 or 7 of the next 17 games against all the odds. So he is doing something right.

As for the Klopp thing, I dont care either way, but when you look at what both have achieved in the game, Lampard is light years ahead. Hes earned the right to pipe anyone down, including Klopp. I doubt the top managers of their day even knew who Klopp was as a player.

Hes now lost our best player on the previous squad. If he keeps us away from the relegation zone, he will have done well.

Only by people being either unfair or deliberately ignoring the contextual factors that have affected his ability to get a tune out of this squad.

You cannot expect any manager on Earth to get results and style if the players at their disposal aren't of sufficient ability. It's really, really simple.

I get you mate but where have you seen him get a tune out of any other club? We could all have a lot more faith if he had an extensive career in management but at each club I have seen him at he has fallen out with players, deflected blame, and shown a lack of experience. It is not what we need for where we are. There are managers we have had that have fixed set piece issues when they came in, and shown a clear system that steadied the ship for us, with this same squad. Lampard is being given a lot of sympathy based on the fact that we are in such turmoil with our owner and we're sentimental over the fact that he looks like he cares. That doesn't equal experience.

We have by far the worst central midfield options in the league. Nobody wants to buy any of them off us which says it all.
