Of course it matters who you bring in. Don't give me a management job and give me resources, I will be terrible, I'm not a PL manager. Frank has never built a squad anywhere or implemented a full style of play to visibly improve a team.

In the modern game, hardly any managers have built a squad. Either they don't get long enough or have extremely limited control over recruitment.

Very few managers out there have built a squad - they don't last long enough to.

I think he has implemented a style but doing so effectively is entirely dependent on the skill set of the playing squad.

He tried early on, before realising he had to be pragmatic mate.

He still has to be pragmatic.

The squad has got worse, significantly since he was appointed with Richarlison leaving.

Going into a back 4 because fans are crying about 5 at the back is wrong.

Setup deep, low block - hope to nick a goal on the counter.

That's all we have with this team.

As much as I loathe Benitez - he was right to spend the pennies he had on two wingers/with a bit of pace for counter attack.

Until we have better players, we can't play expansive.

He's already looking dejected and destroyed isn't he, been here less than 6 months, we understand how you feel Frank but just remember you can escape this soul destroying club, as for us fans ? I wonder how much damage this lot has done to our USA fanbase already.

His stock is still sky high amongst most fans.

They accept he saved the day last season; they also see he's had his best player sold and is trying to plait sawdust with a largely poor squad.

That said, I also accept he has a lot to prove.
Who would offer him a job?
I can't think of anybody , don't know why we did to be honest.
He needs backing or he will be the latest victim of the rubbish we have at the top.

It isn't.

Sky (I know, I know...) ran a poll last week to each fanbase asking to rank managers;

Lampard wouldn't get offered another job in the Prem.

Evertonians recognise the issue.

Neutral fans don't.

I'd walk tbh. Its a job that comes with expectations but needs a total clear out with nothing in the kitty to do it.

I wouldnt touch this job with a sh!tty stick.
He was very much pointing fingers elsewhere last season about "we were already in trouble when I got here".

As much as I credit him, I dont forget that. He needs to be applying pressure on this board right now to get transfers moving. No good bemoaning the lack of resources once the window shuts.

This manager has to be brave. I dont want to hear about "Incredible club, incredible fans who live for the club". If he wants to show respect then let him get into that boardroom and demand players or threaten to walk.

If I were Lampard I'd be giving ultimatums. I'd say if you don't get me some half decent additions then I'm walking. I genuinely don't believe this squad will survive another season in the top flight in its present state.

Don’t be silly.

What he’s got here is a Rooney-esque situation at Derby.

He can’t lose. If we go down, he’s been given nothing, but can show he’s given the players fight, and brought a crowd together.

If we do well, then he’s effectively over performing given the resource he has available to him. Obviously he wants to achieve his goals, but he’ll get another job if he were to leave Everton, whereas if he was at Villa and spent a fortune like Gerrard has, he may not be as fortunate.

I like Lampard, but no way he walks, he’s sitting on a free pass here.

Amongst most Everton fans I meant.

As for PL fans in general: other London clubs and Liverpool and United hate him because of his Chelsea connections.

I'm realistic about him. I wont commit to him, but I recognise he did a job here in the last handful of games prior to getting it all wrong. He kept his nerve and saw us through. He's the least of our problems in terms of senior management and governance at this club.

Certainly sounds like he will be going back to the back 3/5 formation after yesterday. The players still have no ability to play on the front foot.

We are short in every position. We lack good centre halves so need to play 3. We lack quality and experience at full back, and Coleman is injured. The midfield is a total mess. We lack quality and goals in attack, have sold our best player, the youth players don't look ready and Townsend is out for the long term.

That's where the problem lies.

I dont think you can underestimate the job he did keeping this lot together to stay up last season.

Lampard would get a job with another PL club in the bottom half no problem.

He has opportunity to prove himself better than that.

There's two ways of looking at that depending on how you view lampard. Either he's being completely honest or he's passing the buck.

I couldnt care less about those comments tbh. Because they happen to be true

While I am not the biggest fan of Frank Lampard any poll that has Ten Hag as the second worst manager in the PL is not worth paying attention to. Frank is not popular outside of Chelsea, he has a touch or arrogance that makes him dislikeable to most. Ten Hag has done well with Ajax and cant possibly be rated that low and Jesse Marsch is easy target as Ted Lasso.

I would probably take any of those three over Marco Silva, Ralf hassenhutl, Scottie Parker,Bruno Lage for starters. Not saying I think Frank is the answer but at the moment who would take us on. Frank has faults but he did pull it out of the fire when it counted last year with a poor squad. He hasnt had a real chance to improve the squad yet
