The squad is undoubtedly awful , with many players short of confidence , and some that don't even seem to care.
Unfortunately , I have little confidence that Frank has the managerial "nous" to get the best out of the dross that we have got.

I think this is a fair point. I've not watched the friendlies so can't comment on that but I said it last season, all the chopping and changing of formations and positions can't help. I think when you have poor footballers you need to make things as simple as possible for them, and part of that involves deciding which formation you want to play and drilling it every day so that everybody knows exactly what's expected of them and where they're supposed to be at any given time. It's not his fault we're in the mess we are, but it's going to be his responsibility to get us out of it and at some point I think he needs to bite the bullet and decide what the plan is.

I dont think it was counter attacking football. I think it was we cant play we have no option to park the bus. Some of those results wont happen again. Thank god they did because it kept us up in the end. But pickford wont save us every game like that. As in the chelsea game. You can only ride your luck so often.
There are hardly any strengths to this team/squad.
People are looking for a winning formula and i get that. I dont think there is one. We never played good football under benitez. We never played good football under ancelotti. We never played good football under silva. We never played good football under allardyce.

Of course it matters who you bring in. Don't give me a management job and give me resources, I will be terrible, I'm not a PL manager. Frank has never built a squad anywhere or implemented a full style of play to visibly improve a team.

The same is true with the DOF - said similar a while back mate.
But then equally, we've had managers who won the lot in the game, and Steve Walsh who was considered pretty good and look at how that went.

Very few managers out there have built a squad - they don't last long enough to.
I think he has implemented a style but doing so effectively is entirely dependent on the skill set of the playing squad.
