2021/22 Frank Lampard

I’ll be surprised if he hasn’t walked by 01september. His high standards as a player means he can hardly fathom the inability of some of the squad he inherited and their inability to do the simplest things.
Unless he gets 3-4 of the players he wants, I don’t think he’ll stay and him and his staff will scuttle back down south to their families and a probably easier club to manage.
They won't get a gig like this again.
Despite his media luvvies , he knows , like us , that he is in the last chance saloon.

I agree.
Sadly , and mistakenly , I thought that Benitez could do it , due to his experience and personality.
Hope that I am wrong , but I can't see Frank doing it.
He did it though at the end of he season the issue is all they can play is back foot football and hoof it up field that's the only way this currently lot will pick up points without major surgery and that isn't happening

I like Lampard and maybe hes doing it to scare away teams what were thinking maybe we should buy away Lampard, but if he keeps on fielding keane I want him out. I dont care if he is Ghandi himself, any manager that puts Keane in our team is beelzebub and should not be trusted with managing our squad.

He just isnt a very good manager, like fundamentally he is off on so many levels.

But its also obvious he isnt getting any help from the club and board.

Thing is, his style and decisions are circus material. He loves the drama, and is allergic to draws, says rash things to the media, plays 5 at the back away to watford with Iwobi left wing back.

Our club is a mess but he just cannot help to contribute with further instabilitet. At least the positive side of this is that Everton wont be boring to watch.

If we end up in May 2023 with him still at the helm i will be very surprised.

We need to go a more ‘back to basics’ start and then we can try to gradually play more expansive football through the season.

It just seemed basic issues last night, no positional sense, full backs exposed, wingers high up the field not getting back.

It was a 433 and you could tell we don’t play the system much, as they were all over the place. Lampard has said about it being the players and the style not the system, but we need consistency and a solid foundation.

Pickford
Tarkowski Mina Godfrey
Patterson Iwobi Davies Dele Mykolenko
DCL Gordon

Gordon more of a free role alongside DCL, he's played there for u23s and done well and I don't think him and Gray should both start as they always look for the shot and don't assist.

Would like to see a number 6 come in to be the playmaker, potentially Gilmour and the bodies around him making up for his lack of strength.
A team with Iwobli in it is ….doomed!

More of a working with what we’ve got, he was one of the players to get us out of trouble at the end of last season and one of our better players… a sign in itself how bad our squad has become.

Iwobi’s positives though are he can run all day and get in to good creative positions, in this formation and position he could have more freedom to do that, as there should be sufficient cover for the gaps he creates.

I just can't get behind him if he's going to play the likes of Iwobi, Keane and Davies even on a semi-regular basis this season. There ARE other options, even if they are poor players. There can be no justification for playing any of those three unless we literally are down to the bare bones and have no other options at all.

saw a clip from TalkS**t from this morning really laying into him for being angry at the players after the loss the other night - it's funny, when the RS lose 4nil to United it's just a pre-season friendly and it's all about fitness. We lose and it's all about results.
Likewise when Frank criticised the players mentalities he's out of line and a bad manager. When Gerrard does it at Villa he's justified because he has high standards.
Neil Warnock (scrapping the barrel for experts) incorrectly stated that Lampard had spend 400 million at Everton... this narrative about how much we've spent is boring now. Yes we've wasted 500m but how much of that (regardless of how poor those players were) is actually available to Lampard? Of the big money signings, and by that I mean over 25million are still at the club? - Keane and Pickford?. We've p*ssed money against the wall but that squad out there didn't cost 500m - the the scraps of several managers and a few academy products.
When you look at the money the likes of Villa and West Ham have spent in a similar time frame it's really not too dissimilar.

you're watching TalkSport and are expecting objectivity, accuracy and informedness?!?!

you'd have more luck with CNN or the Beano.

Quote from Doucoure in an Athletic article:

“We know the manager has his style. Last season, we played 3-5-2 sometimes, or 4-3-3, so we can play both shapes. At the moment, we are working on both."

Not exactly new information, but good confirmation that we're sticking to two defined systems, and that we're not blindly going towards 5 at the back. I'd rather play one really well then keep switching back and forth, but it seems like Lampard wants to be flexible.

I don’t think we ever played 3-5-2? I mean this guy was in the team but I certainly didn’t see that..

Yeah agreed I don't think we ever did, so maybe shouldn't take much stock in what he's saying. When we played 3 at the back it always looked more like a 3-4-3. Maybe Lampard wanted to and they trained for it but never got the chance because Rich and Dom weren't healthy at the same time.
