El Ghazi is a winger who has only ever played wide.

We did move for a CB on loan I believe but it didn't get off the ground. But this idea that quality CBs grow on trees and are available in January is a bit mad too.

Look at Newcastle. Spent all window chasing two actual very good CBs from Europe and ended up with Dan Burn. And they had money to spend!
I guess you have a point.

Onwards and up. I never saw Newcastle as our main competition in a fight for relegation. We can weather this loss. Next saturday vs Leeds, thats much more important imo.

Don’t get the obsession with Mina, he was awful and I don’t think he injured I think he wanted off the pitch, was playing awful and lucky not to get booked
I'm not sure he was playing awful at all.

He made one mistake in getting tight to ASM when he could have got the booking but our defense looked far more assured with him in it.

Newcastle didn't have a chance until he went down (and they took advantage of it when Joelinton had the shot). He helps us keep possession at the back and marshalls the defence.

It's sickening that we had games v Norwich, Villa, Newcastle and Leeds. If we'd taken 6-9 points from this run I think we'd be fine. We're lucky if we get 3 from it.

He gave them the ball 4 times and we where extremely lucky not to concede from any of them

We started to settle and knock it around. But the minute those players went off and it turned into a scrap...they lost all confidence and didn't know what to do.

Lack of leadership on the pitch defined in that game.

However...if the Skunks can rouse the home team to pull up results, we should be able to do the same. We have too
Agree.

Everton - well, our thicko players like Holgate and Gomes - decided to try and scrap it out yesterday. Like a bloke with short man syndrome trying to take on a 6ft 6 bouncer.

But they didn't do anything with it, he rectified the mistakes.

I don't like him playing wide in a three, but he's clearly our best defender and the evidence is there for all to see.

Unfortunately we have to discount him as he can't stay fit. Godfrey injury is a huge blow. Branthwaite showed why he's nowhere near ready to play in a side that is doing anything other than sitting deep. So it's going to have to be Keane and Holgate which is a horrific thought.

But I said a week or so ago that I just don't think we can try and rely on our defence to get us out of this, so we've got to get the best out of our attacking players.

Newcastle realised where our weakness was last night, particularly in the second half. They rushed and closed down our midfield every time with sometimes 2 players per man. It totally cut off our supply to any form of attack. With the enforced injury subs, we didn't have many options to left to adapt. Maybe we could have crowded the midfield more, but we didn't have an answer for it. Fronk will have to work on a few formation changes that we can use to change things up when its not working...

If every defender was fit I wouldn’t even play Mina, he’s a liability
Myko Branthweight Godfrey Patterson

That would be my back 4, all young, not like the experience players are doing any better

I really can't agree there mate. If you've watched us this season and think we're a better team without Mina then we haven't been watching the same team.

Have to say, Branthwaite was dreadful last night.

I think he had concussion and probably should have been taken off
