Lampard's Chelsea reminded me of a Martinez team, except he at least has the decency to not stand there with a grin on his face after a comprehensive defeat, or to call a 0-0 draw a victory without goals.

I think his only option here is to treat attack as the best form of defence. He doesn't know how to organise a backline, and we don't have the sort of competent professionals that can organise between themselves.

I just hope he knows how to defend set pieces because that's a big part in how bad we are.

The truth is the manager has the same problems Benitez and Ancelotti had - a mish mash of slow, heartless crap signed by Brands/Walsh in which our best players continue to get injured.

A squad like ours can not afford to lose these players consistently.

I thought finishing fourth and getting to a FA cup final during a year he had a transfer ban was a decent accomplishment. Also the fact he was prestigious player factors into his rep. He mentioned he took a year sabbatical to focus on family and just reflect about his past errors while looking for ideal management position. I would of preferred kovac or favre but I dont think he's a horrendous choice. Who would of you preferred from the choices available?

Make no mistake Benitez, killed us with negative tactics this season and the defeat at Watford and Norwich that was it. If your getting beat by them teams then you are in a battle. None of this is franks fault he’s took the job, albeit a hard one, I’ve seen improvements instead of negative passages of play and sitting back inviting pressure. Sadly when I look at the overall squad, there is a lot of bad recruitment. I hope franks given time to give this squad a reset it so badly needs.

He had the worst points per game record of any Chelsea manager under Abramovich. Under Lampard they conceded 54 League goals. The worst since 97-98 and they lost 12 League games out of 38. They wouldn't have got anywhere near top 4 if Leicester hadn't imploded.

His tactics are badly outdated. The games has moved on and whilst the top teams look to press and win the ball high up the pitch. Lampard thinks now is the time to try and play it out from the back with slow defenders that are poor in possession.

As for the so-called short list. I think that we will be unlikely to bring in a progressive coach until we get rid of Moshiri and stop hounding out managers.
