2021/22 Frank Lampard

I think last night showed Lampards inexperience highlighted to the world.

It’s by no means a disaster, but he just got it so very wrong, maybe a victim of his own success against Brentford.

Gomes and Allan can’t play in a two, and it’s great timing to have your worst game in a blue shirt.

5 at the back against Newcastle, is inviting pressure and all they were about is kick and run to Saint Maximin. We couldn’t handle it and again lost the midfield battle.

Made the wrong choice. bringing on Branthwaite for me, should have been able to see our game being overran.

But tactically shocking yesterday. It’s needed, he needs to see who is liable for how bad we are. Not one positive from thag yesterday, Saturday will be huge.

Harsh imo.

We where fine for the first 20mins. Once Gray went off things changed, personally I don’t think Alli was ready, I’d maybe have given El Ghazi a chance and gone like for like with Gray. Mina was a big blow going off, Branthwaite looked miles off it. Agree we should have gone to a 4 at the back and 3 in midfield.

Holgates mistake brought them back in the game though, swung momentum for them before half time.

All on the players for me last night though, they couldn’t string 2 passes together and brought most of the pressure on themselves

what did he get wrong exactly?, two injuries in the first half killed us, 5 at the back didn't invite pressure, they weren't in it until we scored, and it isn't a 5 at the back, its actually 3-4-3 with the 2 wing backs dropping in when we are defending, he didn't really have any other option than Branthwaite, the biggest problem on Saturday will be our panic stricken fans screaming get rid if it when we try to play out on Saturday, absolute nut jobs, sounds like you will be leading the screams

Im fully behind Lampard.

I always back the manager. I watched the game. It’s not a crime to be negative of something if it wasn’t good.

We were very much off the pace. But we’ve seen with a Brentford that there will be some good games too.

Allan and Gomes can’t play in a two, and he kept thag despite having Van De Beek on the bench.

You can be critical without bed wetting, stop being a drama queen mate.

I am not panicking, or anything really, I just thought he just got the set up wrong, even if we started well. We couldn’t come back when they equalised and I think thag just comes from how we set up.

But equally, I know the Newcastle players wanted it more, and he’s been in charge for a week.

Just think bringing on Branthwaite was a mistake as it already starting to happen where they were getting on top of the midfield.

It happens and we move on, I’m sure it’ll be far better on Saturday.

Make no mistake Benitez, killed us with negative tactics this season and the defeat at Watford and Norwich that was it. If your getting beat by them teams then you are in a battle. None of this is franks fault he’s took the job, albeit a hard one, I’ve seen improvements instead of negative passages of play and sitting back inviting pressure. Sadly when I look at the overall squad, there is a lot of bad recruitment. I hope franks given time to give this squad a reset it so badly needs.
Benitez better get it right against Leeds or even ill start to turn on him.

We could still win the FA cup. That'd be some coup for Ben tbf.

Was a tough one for Lampard last night. Mykolenko being unavailable last minute and then losing Gray and Mina right away was terrible.

Understand why he went with Townsend as a left footer but in future it will need to be Kenny/Patterson/Branthwaite.

Pick 2 and stick with them is all he can do. Hopefully the mistakes are limited and they gel as a pair. We will get nowhere changing every week.

Its a tough call, but I would probably lean towards Keane and Holgate, even though I am not a Holgate fan. I just think the young lad isn't ready yet.
Do you think Keane and Holgate will ever be ready?

We haven't given managers a chance.

I'll hold my hand up and say Koeman I wanted out. He'd spent massively and he'd wasted it. So in his second season I wanted him gone. The others I've supported to the hilt.

Silva should have been left longer to turn us around.
We were in the relegation zone and in free fall.

Mind you, you thought Benitez needed more time. So at least there’s some consistency.

Newcastle wanted it more than we did and it’s as simple as that. They looked dangerous in attack and actually knew how to get the ball forward.

Also, why do we continue to pass around the back?. We literally have no defenders that know how to pass and yet we continue to do it.
I think it’s simply part of how lampard wants his teams to retain the ball.
So does he play to our strengths (or weaknesses) and then we get what Benitez gave us. (Which everyone hated) or does he play the game the way he wants it to be played and encourage our players to build in confidence and go with it and hope that we get better at it.

We have got 10 'home' games left so if Frank can concentrate on getting us playing better at home and the fans get behind the team no matter what and get Goodison absolutely rocking making it a literal hell for teams to come to, boo every opposing player every time they have the ball the lot, anything goes. 6 wins out of the 10 will be enough to keep us up. Staying in the PL is all that matters this season and Frank can then start a full rebuild in the summer.

Dave, don't be disingenuous, you know full well that, our last manager apart, no Everton manager has been 'hounded' after 2 or 3 games. Stop being a contrarian for just a minute.

You know very well that most of our fans are aware of how bad things were when Lampard came in and will not be holding him responsible away time soon.

I do, however, fully expect you to be monitoring every news report and the comments on this forum, just in case you see one or two negative comments in the next couple of weeks. You will then, undoubtedly, quote them triumphantly and say see I told you so
He was being hounded out by many BEFORE the start of the season...THAT's a fact.
