2021/22 Frank Lampard

We have a poor defence and a manager who has shown no prior aptitude for setting up a defence. His defensive record at Chelsea was horrific. The managers who turn things around are the ones who come in shore up the defence and make you hard to beat.

That is how you build confidence in the side. When you concede goals for fun, then the confidence levels in the team go from bad to worse. That is what we saw last night. We crumbled and could have conceded four or five.

We have played two poor sides who are fighting relegation under Lampard and conceded four goals in those two games.
Was it?

I'm not saying he is a defensive wonder, but I've heard it being labelled weak, terrible and now horrific. The statistics don't back that up.

We play City this month. If they drop points it will help the reds, but we need a result ourselves. They are completely irrelevant to us when we are 2 points ahead of the relegation zone. They will probably beat us anyway, but I will fume a lot if I see any posts saying it's better for City to beat us.
It shouldn't even be a consideration. If people even have an iota of concern about the RS where it'd impact us, they can do one.

No Dave, don't try to use Benitez as a yard stick. You are well aware that he came to the club carrying baggage which no other manager has ever done. Lampard is a totally different kettle of fish and well you know it.

You can twist and turn all you like to try and justify your point, but, it is just you being you as usual. I find your posts amusing, but, it is difficult to take most of them seriously.

Be honest, the reason behind most of your posts is just to provoke a reaction.
Isn't that the motivation behind all art?

Just saw this and knowing our luck thought could be true

This is the mentality that's out there now. If we go on a bad run you can expect that to be a feeling that's abroad rather than a joke on the back of a van.

The genie is out of the bottle and wont go back in.
Stop trying to justify you sucking the fat Spanish fella off.
You backed the wrong horse/pig and embarrassed yourself in doing so.

We'll forgive you eventually David.
We still love you x

The stats do back that up though. Lampard was in charge of Chelsea for 56 League games and conceded two or more goals in 22 of those games. That is terrible.

He was sacked. Then the same players conceded a total of 2 goals in Tuchels first 14 games.

When he was sacked, which was mid January, he'd conceded one more than Liverpool. He'd conceded less than United, who were in second.

We'd conceded more and at this point were known for a solid defence under Ancelotti. So, compared to others, was it terrible?

People compare it to Tuchel's shrewd defence as the only bench mark, but decide to not make comparisons with similar teams at the same period.

Is really necessary to start picking holes in Frank Lampards record ? all it does is causes more splits in the fan base when we all need to be pulling together, There will be enough people laughing at us and hoping we go down without arguing amongst ourselves.
He is our manager now and we need to support him and stick with him relegation or not have faith that he will get it right.
At the end of the day if he bombs in this job he will be finished as a manager lets back him 100% and let him get on with the job.

Stopping Liverpool winning a title? There's no Everton fan I know who'd want to be in a position at the end of a season where we did f.a. as per usual other than look on as Liverpool won a title by a point or so after Everton had taken points off City.

(The upcoming City game doesn't fall into that bracket, of course, as the title race is already over.)
Ah, crap, apparently Liverpool have a really strong chance then, right @Eggs?

Clearly defensive issues are his achilles heel but he has brought Clement in who seems to be working on it. Maybe he knows he needs to improve there? He's a relatively young manager. Also even when we tried to play defensive we weren't getting results under Benny either so attack is probably the best form of defence right now. We know our defenders will make mistakes we need to score two and threes to win matches.
