Date I mention slippy’s name in this thread. But they both command instant respect from any player no matter how good they are, due to their abilities as players. Ramsay at Villa, Gordon with us have both raised their games significantly working under arguably two of the best three midfielders of their generation (scholes being the other). England will ultimately benefit from this.
I think that’s true.

I also think there’s a shelf life where this impact works super effectively. There will be young players coming through now who don’t remember him at his best (which is terrifying as far as feeling old is concerned) - so it’s a magic that works best on this current crop of players right now.

I hope we capitalise!

I’m a big fan of how Lampard has handled the ‘fans’ issue.

He’s stopped short of saying that the fans hinder the team, but from day 1 until now he has constantly referenced how important it is to have the fans on side, he knows as much as anyone how hard it is and to play with your home fans against you and he’s weaponised it in his favour already.

Honestly if we can get just on par with how it was under Moyes, the odd grumble (we’re still Evertonians) but genuinely backing the team every week , it’s a massive handicap removed.

…very bright & articulate, some of his phraseology is from corporate business world. Terrific post-match interview on Sky, said ”it was a joined-up victory, the crowd, players and coaches all as one”. Nice that he feels “we can really build something here”.
Interesting he spoke about our poor set pieces in both areas, prior to coming. Clement’s attention to detail working on this in training , is really showing dividends on the pitch.

By scoring first in every game since he came in, one thing he's reversed quickly is that ridiculous stat of us not scoring first in a game between late October and late January, and he's already connected with the fans far more than most of the previous incumbents post-Moyes.

It's been a decent start from him so far so I hope we can let him get on with his job rather than nitpicking over things that went on when he was in charge at Chelsea.
