Disappointed that Lampard did not set us up to defend tightly - so much space between the lines for their forwards to play in.

One thing Ancelotti got right was we had that period, where we were solid defensively playing 4 center backs. It wasn't pretty, but it got the job done sometimes. I think its needed against the top teams.

On the contrary id be disappointed to be always right. Its a rebuttal, you presented a premise i presented a contrary one we are disagreeing on a point, that's how it works mate, im not going to accept something because you think it, when i presented the alternate in regard to logic of my initial response. The point prevails really comparatively, i think the dogs in the street know our players have had a high volume of managers, i mean its silly suggest other wise. We all follow Everton week in week out, we know the players, we know when they arrived, we know how many mangers they have been through the door, we can see a maladaptive culture and a trend exists - well to my mind anyway, clearly though its a point we wont find agreement on.

I tihk your second point cant be looked at in isolation, toxic attitude is you word, i would suggest, the lack character, leadership and resilience to adversity and thats become a prevailing culture - everyone looks about and thinks it always someone's else fault or there are other reasons. Its a trend and its indicative season in season out, clutch games, games of adversity or when leadership and resilience required. The difficulty is their our obviously constraints on out ability to sign players - if that led to getting what we could - rather then ideal - then id accept that - i also think weve had por DOF and corporate governance in terms of recruitment -0 have we signed good characters - in the main probably not - accepted - i still think we have enough quality not to be in the position we are though and partly that is down to a maladaptive prevailing culture.

We need Lampard to make his Moyes Phil Neville / Tim Cahill type signing?

It’s the same core.

Coleman Kenny Keane Holgate Siggurdson Davies Tosun: have all been here since Koeman years.

We compounded that by buying Gbamin Gomes Iwobi Delph under Silva

That’s a core of largely useless players that have been underpinning this squad for years.

We’re basically reliant on Mina Godfrey Allan Doucoure Richalrison DCL Gray always being fit and in top form because as soon as they’re not we’re right back into that’s and group of failures. There’s not even enough for an 11 out of that lot. Some of them when they dip below their top form aren’t great either.

So people are correct to say it’s not exactly the same players but it’s certainly a very large core who have been here a while and keep getting selected in squads and 11s.
Everton's players all have very glaring weaknesses and have been found out for ages, but its the same players over and over. Other teams know how to play against these guys. You can't keep turning up with the same party trick, its embarrassing.

Also DCL hasn't been good since 1st half of last season when James was here.

Think he's showed large amounts of naivety in both this game and Southampton away games. Dunno why he thought going to 2 of the most systematic well drilled pressing teams away from home and trying to match them with a week's training, maybe he has higher expectations from our players but we've seen it now for last 4 years. Would love to see all our players running statistics, I'm built like a chode and I bet you anything I can run quicker than all our defenders and midfield.

Yep, I agree with this. It's easy to put it down to bad attitudes etc but I think lack of confidence and constant chopping and changing is much more of an issue personally. I think it's very lazy to put inconsistent performances down to effort but that seems to be what we do all the time, every time we have a bad result people say the players didn't try. If they were as good as that they could be top of the league if they could only be bothered. Somehow I don't think it's just their attitudes that are preventing that from happening.
The context affects everyone. This is without a doubt a management problem from top to bottom. Ragnick always talks about the 3 C; Concept, Competence and Capital. Only in the last year we have had 3 different models. Think it can be a good thought exercise, especially for those who run the club, and think about these Cs.

Then changes will take time, many people think it's like turning on a light switch, but just look at Arsenal now. Arsenal chose a long-term strategy. Invest in a manager with a clear philosophy, have hired competent people, and invest money in young players who can be shaped and developed. Compare this with our method when we hired Ancelotti.

Couldn’t understand why we were playing a high line with a slow defence. Played into Spurs hands.

  • They have failed to have a single shot on target in two of their last three Premier League games, something they had not done in any of their previous 80 games before this run.

Richarlison and DCL have to take responsibility for that. They both played in both those away games and were abysmal. They are playing like players who see this as an opportunity to get moves out of the club. Richarlison's effort is ok, but his quality has been nowhere near what's needed. DCL just has been miles off the pace, and I'd drop him.

These players have had nothing to do with this season.

No idea why you’ve included Godfrey and Allan in the players we’re reliant on. Allan has been a mainstay this season and we’re worse than we’ve ever been in my lifetime.

Defence a serious concern and needs to be the priority. Not sure what Frank can do at this point to turn it around before the end of the season. ? Drill the hell out of them maybe.

I’m not just talking about this season. They’ve been part of the group under numerous managers that have led to our decline.

Part of the reason we can’t get new players in is because a lot of them are sitting on long contracts on big wages. Tosun is so bad that he’s been fit all season yet can’t put any pressure on the starters whatsoever. I’d imagine the same would be true for Davies.

on the other hand Lampard alludes to not doing a high defensive line, but that defenders started venturing themselves into the space for the midfielders. this created chaos in our organisation.

What the problem of changing managers is we always have players that are bought to the tactic flavor of the day. Keane being point, he got a contract extension from carlo because Carlo figured out we need to play in a low compact block on the counter. Now we have Lamps who wants quite the opposite. This quickly finds the limitations of Keane.

I like Frank, and i was very critical first but lets give him time. Last night was a sure write off and now he knows what DCL, Keane, coleman simply cannot do, and that they drag the entire team down. I thought allan, doucoure, gordon and richy did okay. They ran their socks off. Vdb, kenny and brantwaite a little less.

I fi was lampard id give Alli a spot at the 9, or rondon, or go back to richy. The front needs to do stuff with the ball to make the others work. Alli can hold the ball and has some clever passes that dcl couldnt dream of after 3 days in the old hacienda. Sunday we need to deliver. Keep the faith.
