Plus the Gareth Farrelly miracle match, but wasn't there another stress ulcer inducing season little is spoken of?
This was a season even I (forever the optimist) had nightmares about. So much so, I can't remember when it was.
I think Walter was in charge, can't be certain, and it was so dire I have largely deleted it from my memory banks, or, it was all a very bad dream.
We were near the foot of the table and Boro, managed by Bryan Robson, failed to show for a mid-week match at Blackburn stating a number of his players had flu. As he had not informed the FA to receive permission to cancel, Boro had a points deduction. That saved us.

Is it me, or can anyone else enlighten me.

The season Boro had the points deduction was 96:97. We finished 15th under Dave Watson after Royle had been sacked. Was a slog of a season but we were never really deep in the relegation mix.

Be interesting to hear in the press conference if Godfrey and Gray are likely to start. How close Delph and Mina are from fitness, what Keane’s mystery illness is, and maybe his thoughts on how he gets Alli into the team.

But you just know it will be ten questions on Abramovich.
That's because the football media have proven themselves to be willing tools of the Cold Warmongers in the UK Government.

They want Everton down. They want Chelsea out of the trophy reckoning for the foreseeable.

Lampard should refuse to take their non-Everton questions and non-team related questions if they start up about Usmanov.

That was the 1996/97 season mate, we finished 2 pts above the relegation places. Joe Royle was our manager then but he ended up resigning before the season finished, Dave Watson took over as caretaker manager.

Should be on the club’s press team to brief the Journos on what can’t be asked

If he keeps us up I'm going to be very excited to see how many of these whoppers he bins off in the summer.
Going to be extremely difficult, isn't it? To sell you need:

1. A player willing to leave

2. A club willing to acquire said player

I see two problems with the above:

1. We know from experience that there is a toxic culture of Everton players more than happy to wind down their lavish contracts with us, as they know they're not worthy of what they're being paid and wouldn't get anywhere near that salary elsewhere.

2. I genuinely don't see an argument for any club, literally, to want to sign Jonjoe Kenny, Michael Keane, Alex Iwobi, Saloman Rondon, Seamus Coleman, Tom Davies, Andre Gomes, Mason Holgate, etc.

All they (other clubs) will see is a bunch of players who have somehow dragged Everton to within an inch of relegation (all of the above bar Rondon really), or worse have got us relegated, and/or players who have suffered awful injuries in the past (Gomes, Coleman), and/or players who have severely regressed to a point they are embarrassing shadows of what they used to be (Davies, Gomes), are/or so obviously finished at any kind of debt decent level (Coleman), and/or are on far too high a salary so know that any kind of bid would be fruitless anyway (Keane, Davies, Holgate, Gomes, Iwobi - these are Championship players at best on a top-six team salary. Who in their right mind would even want to upset the apple cart at their club by offering Tom Davies even 20k a week, despite him currently earning about double that?).

As you can see, it's going to be nigh on impossible to shift (m)any of these players, even if they're told they are no longer needed.

Tranmere behave. Funnily enough I've seen him linked with 2 huge clubs in the last 48 hours.
Do you scan the forum waiting for someone to mention his name so you can pop up and defend him.

1) nobody believes a word you type
2) the fat kopite will always be hated at goodison

Your utter weird obsession with him is disturbing
