Will note Villa have kept 3 clean sheets in 3 games.
I think he missed at least one of those, but even so he was very poor here for a good while before he went, sometimes that happens it just all gets stale, so the player and club have to part ways. His defence frailties will show there face again soon no doubt. But he’s gone now so I don’t give him a second thought as he’s not our player anymore.

It's fair to say he was never the issue with the defence or squad.

Lampard inherited a squad that cost a fortune, but plays like paupers. Somehow he he has to get them ready, mentally, to play. Losing can become a habit. They totally lack confidence and have forgotten what it takes to win…either that or they just don’t give a crap.
Slagging them off on the likes of GOT doesn't help at all.

BTW, that BBC hack at the end asking Lampard whether he'd reflected on the fact that he'd benefitted from his association with Abramovic should never get to ask another question at an Everton press conference again.
Good point this.
Will he ask the same question to anyones past assiciation to Chelsea ?

Benitez , Salah , DeBruyne or Lukaku.

Wont hold me breath.

Under benitez he atleast had the excuse of a decimated squad due to injuries.

For lampard if he doesn’t have that excuse if he doesn’t keep us up. For me lampard is/was a choice of appointment that made relegation a greater possibility, mainly because he has shown in the short 3 years of management that he lacks the ability to set up a defence, and that was with world class defenders at Chelsea.

It was silly of us to hire him now, when a relegation fight relies on a tight defence and 10 men behind the ball to pick up a vital point here and there. A manager that can’t set up a defence + the defenders we have = an utter disaster. Benitez was renowned for being able to set up a defence and he couldn’t work with our defenders, what chance does lampard have?

we still have a chance at staying up, but that’s just because the 3 teams below or around us are utter crap as well.

There was never a singular “issue”, but he is still absolutely crap at defending. Doesn’t matter if his Villa team have kept two clean sheets, Michael Keane has kept clean sheets in our defence.

One thing I have took from his interviews from his away the defeats is the phrase “they are good lads”. I have took that to be a polite way of saying some of them aren’t good enough and he knows which ones. There will be alot of movement of players in an out this summer if we can get out of this mess.

For lampard if he doesn’t have that excuse if he doesn’t keep us up.
Except that our best two center backs Mina and Godfrey got immediately injured, Mykolenko has been out and is our only left back forcing us to play Kenny there on his wrong foot, Gray has missed most matches and DCL is clearly not fit…
Benitez also had Digne and James available to him and chose not to use them and sell them.
