We had cash to spend still. And we had the option of loaning a CB. I bet if he had his time over again FL would have brought one in instead of Alli.
We didn't though really, we sold digne and bought 2 full backs. Questionable ones most certainly, but that was the funds spent. We under terrible budget restrictions from the premier League

My understanding is we also tried to bring a CB loan in but it fell through

BTW, that BBC hack at the end asking Lampard whether he'd reflected on the fact that he'd benefitted from his association with Abramovic should never get to ask another question at an Everton press conference again.

What did Frank say in reply, Dave?

Havent seen it but I assume that's Alistair McGowan.

Every week its the same from him, looking for the snide question.

One of these weeks he is just going to come out and ask why we just don't fold as a club.
Yes.

Of course, he's hiding behind his BBC status. An utter turd who'd never ask such questions of any manager of Liverpool, United, Arsenal etc.

What did Frank say in reply, Dave?
He said he hadn't met RA many times and that's all he wanted to say on the issue.

He should have retorted that the hack's BBC should be hounding Tory MPs and New Labour peers for taking oligarch cash hand over fist rather than a football player-now manager about the owner of his former club.

I'm actually in awe of the fact, after watching them train on a regular basis Frank hasn't become a habitual chain smoker like Maurizo Sarri or even started to huff glue. I would need some kind of substance to endure those misfits.
By all accounts they train really well. Get themselves in the coaching staffs good books. Then they throw it all away on a match day because they couldn't give a flying one. At least if they were crap in training they might get binned off but they never do.

The BBC have made plain they see Lampard as part of the periphery of the oligarchy they are now instructed to go after by their masters in government...a government that has already made sure Everton FC will have none of its own financial resources from now on.

This is a problem we'll have to face now. There'll be a will to see us relegated.

Going to be extremely difficult, isn't it? To sell you need:

1. A player willing to leave

2. A club willing to acquire said player

I see two problems with the above:

1. We know from experience that there is a toxic culture of Everton players more than happy to wind down their lavish contracts with us, as they know they're not worthy of what they're being paid and wouldn't get anywhere near that salary elsewhere.

2. I genuinely don't see an argument for any club, literally, to want to sign Jonjoe Kenny, Michael Keane, Alex Iwobi, Saloman Rondon, Seamus Coleman, Tom Davies, Andre Gomes, Mason Holgate, etc.

All they (other clubs) will see is a bunch of players who have somehow dragged Everton to within an inch of relegation (all of the above bar Rondon really), or worse have got us relegated, and/or players who have suffered awful injuries in the past (Gomes, Coleman), and/or players who have severely regressed to a point they are embarrassing shadows of what they used to be (Davies, Gomes), are/or so obviously finished at any kind of debt decent level (Coleman), and/or are on far too high a salary so know that any kind of bid would be fruitless anyway (Keane, Davies, Holgate, Gomes, Iwobi - these are Championship players at best on a top-six team salary. Who in their right mind would even want to upset the apple cart at their club by offering Tom Davies even 20k a week, despite him currently earning about double that?).

As you can see, it's going to be nigh on impossible to shift (m)any of these players, even if they're told they are no longer needed.

Sigurdsson, Tosun, Kenny and Delph are out on frees as are Begovic and Lonergan I think.

So thats 6 out.

In 2023 these players contracts are up so could in theory leave as their FFP values wont be high.
Coleman
Davies
Rondon
Townsend
Allan
Mina

Theres 12 already...

As well as Doucoure though we have an option to extend.

Of the others im confident we could shift them out with the amount of wages were saving on others leaving a portion could go to paying Gomes/Iwobi/Gbamin etc off if needs be....there will be clubs who would take Keane and Holgate i think.

Do you scan the forum waiting for someone to mention his name so you can pop up and defend him.

1) nobody believes a word you type
2) the fat kopite will always be hated at goodison

Your utter weird obsession with him is disturbing

I looked in the mirror and said @Theoneandonly three times...

...apologies :(

;) lol

To be fair the question was stupid, at this stage of the season a DOF cannot do anything to effect results on the pitch.
It was a bit of a daft question tbh, the guy has been at New York red bulls after leaving wolves, basically he’s well out of the loop in terms of being able to pass on anything useful.
