Let's be serious. Most of the coaches in the game are mediocre at best at PL level. There is a small handful who overachieve relative to resources. Guys like Hodgson, Moyes and, dare I say it, Klopp.

Outside of flavour of the month runs of results very few really stand out. Even Mourinho is someone who I would say had a good run based on early success at Porto. He then just went to moneyed clubs for years and is actually pretty mediocre on a budget. His managerial acumen pales in comparison to Fergie and Wenger when you look at how they actually went about getting their results.

In the whole Moshiri era I don't think we've had one coach who actually seemed a good fit for our club.
You are right mate. This is why I think now that we may have been better going with Dunc til the end of the season in the hope he harnessed some of the passion in the team and in the summer, we went for someone with a track record of building something with less resources like Dyche or Potter

I was at the game when we lost against Villa and you couldnt hear a pin drop when we left the ground. We played a lot of long ball and tried to play a platform from that. That was Duncan’s audition for the job and he failed it in my opinion. He has coached under a lot of different managers and could have showcased what he has learnt but I didn’t see anything progressive. I know the knives are out for Drank but he is trying different things to find a formula under hard conditions and a team on its arse.

I was there too mate but I just think that this team has showed very little right under Frank and I think a decent amount of spirit and fight would keep us up this season which I hope Dunc would be able to instil

We need to sell a ton of dead wood if we survive to even have any excitement for next season. The whole squad needs to be binned, except a few.
This is the thing for me - if by some miracle we escape this season - I can’t see it - then there’s so much work needs to be done to that squad just to avoid going down next season it’s frightening

The weirdest thing is the team suddenly has zero chemistry, and that's mostly down to people coming into the team. You have new players like VDB, Mykolenko who has to fit in, then you have Rafael players like gray, Carlo players like Allan and Doucoure, and older players who've stuck around like Richarlison, DCL etc.
It's like turning up to a party and no one knows each other, and the conversation has gone cold.

I'm not going to say it was pretty under Carlo, and it was a bit of a shambles near the end, but at least people had jobs to do.

We're getting beat by single goals, either mistakes or the opponents worked us out like yesterday. But there's zero fight back/ attacking qualities in the team. The players have forgotten how to score. It's embarassing.

Can't keep blaming the manager because it's getting exausting hearing that from blues year after year. You can't play guidiola football with what we have so pep would have the same problems Frank has. Until we get shut of all the waste of money then the same crap players will keep playing crap for every manager we hire. How does anyone know that the players are being given an instruction and not following it because we have enough away game performances that suggest they don't.
Actually we can. We have a frankenstein squad buthere comes johnny london putting up a 2 man midfield. benitez, Carlo, Koeman, SIlva, all of them seem to think we have a bunch of galacticos when we need agricultural sam allardyce football qand even that is sometimes too much for this bunch. A rigid defence backed by a strong midfield. The rest is bonus. We cant keep playing 3 attackers. Whats the use when you cant reach them? I dare to say Benitez ws better at getting the most out of gray, richy, hel even metro man umfufu and his hairdot.

Wolves are a well drilled side. You cant put Kenny as centre back against them. Him and Coleman constantly ran in eachothers space too. That is purely on the manager. Dvb and Doucoure both drowned in the Wolves press. Exactly the same happened against Southhampton.

Trying things when you know what yr doing, with a decent education in physical training and such, thats fine.

Putting 2 right backs that constantly walk into eachothers spaces like Kenny and Coleman and hope for the best is just ridiculous, even on championship level.

He can claim he didnt tell the defenders like Keane to walk up into midfield positions and make life difficult for vdb, allan and doucoure but that too is on him.

Former player becoming managers is all fine but more often tahn not they come up short when the going gets tough. At least Benitez had 2 or 3 games where he managed to turn things around in the 2nd half. Lampard has had a reputation for globally knowing what he wants, training to the bone for that but when it comes to adaptability, a plan B, a capability to read a game, he just comes up short.

Ill grant you, starting mid season isnt the best, but he couldv played some vide tapes of the last 6 or 7 games to know Keane is a liability and adding Alli was very optimistic, if not suicide. We needed a new CB and a DM. Thats it. Its not there.

I dont think Lampard will stay around when we drop. A nice guy but thats not what we need. A well, maybe relegation really is what we need to get it through our managements heads hollywood style play/managers, is asking for for even more trouble. Back to basics. 451 and such.

Funny to recall that the one guy who knew this, was Dunc. He went back to basics with a 442. That too got quickly found out but at least it was something of a backbone, and ANcelotti adopting that for most of the time shows that such a tactic is the needed starting point. No fancy 343, 433, just sit back, be compact and fight.

Actually passing the ball around doesn't seem to work either.

Said many times...why the [Poor language removed] do these managers just bin off what Carlo did to think they could produce better?

Why does Dunc have to be the manager to inspire the players? He’s a coach...if coaches aren’t going to be influential in any way then why have them in the first place?
