2021/22 Frank Lampard

The damage already done before he came in has to be considered though.

Lampard was largely to blame for the thrashing at Spurs and Yesterdays miserable performance due to poor team selections.

He has to learn quickly. 4-3-3 has to be the only option going forward.
I agree, he needs to stick at least with 1 formation and just try his best to select a base to play each match. Chopping and changing just makes things worse - although Its obvious he is doing it out of desperation.

I'm also concerned with how he's gone into self preservation mode.

Comments like this are coming in;

"“It has been a long time the players haven’t won games, it is impossible to change that overnight"

“Myself and the staff came in with the team on a bad run… used to the feeling of losing and not getting points"

It's like he's shirking. Too evasive. Too deflective. Basically shrugging.

5 at the back should be reserved for away games where we actually concede goals for fun

last 3 home games under frank we had beaten boreham wood 2-0 after switching from 5 to the back to 4, we beat brentford 4-1 and we beat leeds 3-0

why go 5 at the back at home? even a non league side were comfortable against us with 5 at the back

at home we need a positive and attacking formation and to get goals not sit back

He's chopping and changing too much for things to bed in.

He seems to want to play 3 at the back which again is worrying.
Agree, it’s such a poor formation with the players we have. He seems to really like it though, his favoured formation. It just leaves two centre midfielders with oceans of ground to cover and particularly a midfield as slow as ours. The three upfront get isolated and the back 5 are exposed with no protection.

The Wolves manager post match interview admitted they targeted the midfield area knowing we’d be easily outnumbered once the initial energy died down. So it proved.

Totally, noticed that becoming more pronounced the last two or three interviews.

The only reason most fans were happy when Lampard was appointed was the relief it wasn’t Vitor Pereira, he wasn’t even mentioned when Ancelotti left. He would have been better taking the Norwich job and develop a managerial style there, were expectations aren’t quite as big.

The worry for me is that already he’s beginning to look out of his depth, trying to play a possession based game without the players who are suited to that style isn’t going to work.

Managing Everton with the squad we have is one of the most challenging jobs there is and would have been difficult for whoever was appointed. I’d love him to turn this around but so far the signs are not promising.

Years of mismanagement from the boardroom down is what started this rot. We're an absolute shambles of a club
Yep. The FSW was terrible, but he wasn’t the reason why we are in this position. Literally every manager but Carlo has been sacked for getting us near the relegation zone, we then hire and bounce back temporarily and finish in a decent position. This time it hasn’t happened. There hasn’t been a manager bounce.

Carlo is smart, he probably knew the job here was massive and deeper than many thought. This is years in the making. The buck stops at moshiri for allowing brands and Walsh to assemble the worst set of players I have seen in years. Our form is on par with the derby county record.

Worse, after just the 2nd or 3rd defeat he started to publicly blame the players. Again he blames the players yesterday. He did the same at Chelsea. never is it his own fault.

With 2 RBs playing in more or less the same space, what was he thinking? That he is Guardiola? Does Vdb need to display his inner Zidane, alone vs 2 or 3 high pressing Wolves players? The last thing you want is creating dissent amongst the players but this is the sure and fast way to do that.

Sorry, edited original post. I think he will resign, he knows that If he waits, there is a good chance he would get another Premier League opportunity sooner. Possibly with a team closer to home. Someone like Brighton, Palace or maybe Fulham who could be back in the Premier League then.

Taking a relegated team straight back up is very difficult. When it has been done before, it is usually when the nucleus of the team that was relegated stays together. That is the complete opposite to what we expect to happen. How many of the current squad will stay if we go down?
I think we might have just ended his management career. It will certainly be very badly damaged

Not just me then?

It's like he's continually arse covering now. It's not ideal.

I absolutley think they have already downed tools on him, after he's riped them a new arsehole following the spurs shambles.

Biggest bunch of cowards to ever set foot on a football pitch.

He's got to just play the younger players in their proper positions now, and three in the middle - Allan needed to start yesterday, or at least come on - only using two subs baffled me as well.

I can't accept that Patterson and branthwaite aren't better options than Coleman and holgate/Keane, after what they have served up this season.
