Hodgson would have been ideal. Would probably leave us in a much better state than we are in at the moment.

That said, imagine two RS managers in a row? I don’t really associate Hodgson with Liverpool though, as he was there for such a spell and he was totally hung out to dry there.

Hodgson would have been terrible IMO. I think what we needed apart from the football qualities and experience was someone with some positive energy, which FL has brought as well. We needed this fresh start and some optimism to help change the mood of the players. It's not helped yet, but it was the right move. Hodgson would not have been that energetic or inspiring, and another 'relegation expert' after Allardyce would have killed us off. once you start hiring from the Allardyce, Ranieri, Steve Bruce, Tony Pulis, Neil Warnock pool of managers it feels horrible.

As I said earlier, he was never my ideal candidate to succeed Benitez - but, FFS, how anyone can be laying any blame at his door after being here for 6 games is breathtaking.

That attitude of turning on manager's in rapid time is what's got us where we are right now. 7 managers in 6 years and there's no stability or anything like it between players and coaching staff. We've sleepwalked into this believing that cash could get us out of another dire mess when in reality it's only ever a solid manager-player foundation that can get you the performances you need to get safe.

I just cant believe that there's people who think Lampard is either A/ responsible for any of this or B/ that he should be relieved of his duties.

It's like nothing has been learned in 6 years.

He's here now and we either stay up or go down with him in charge. There can be no other way.

Pep, Klopp, Conte... It wouldn't matter, this squad is just not good enough regardless of the manager. Even where we do have a couple of players with something about them, they have no confidence on the dross around them so everything is so tentative on the pitch.

I think Lampard will take us down, I also don't think he is a manager who was suitable for a relegation battle. I do however think that he was a good appointment for the long term. We are going down, that is a probability now not just a possibility.i don't think Lampard can be blamed for that. We waited far too long before pulling the trigger on his predecessor, the damage was done when he got here.

I think it is important now, whether we go down or not, that we hold our nerve and give Lampard the chance to get rid of most of the squad and replace them with players with energy and ambition and a much lower age profile. I think it's time we made some big sales and change the spine of the squad completely. We should no longer be looking to sign established internationals who are on the way down, but rather, we should be looking at the rising stars before they get their big move.

We even had the Galloot in to try and see if he could get anything from them...they made a holy show if him too...and he's supposed to be popular with them.

This group of players are despicable. Worse than losers, they are cowards too.

If Lampard fashions enough points to get us safe from that shower the club should melt that Dixie Dean statute down and create one of Lampard.

I do too. But I dont think he'll stay here if we are relegated. There's no way he'd get a fair crack of the whip from our fans and his reputation would be in the bin forever.

If we took the drop...and I personally dont think we should get ahead of ourselves on that score...I'd hire Rooney straight away. He knows the score in that division and he'd galvanise us and offer us some positive news coverage.

the problem is when we concede first

i just dont expect us to break down an organised defence

look at newcastle they were losing 1-0 to us and the very next attack they got a corner and scored from it to equalise

players heads drop and they give up

Some absolute quality posts about Fronk and the current situation here mate. Baffles me that people are laying this on his door.

You were dead wrong about Benitez, but I have to admit, you were dead right about some so called evertonians turning on Lampard, so soon. 6 pl games into his tenure, just wow.

I hope it's just the worry of the current situation we find ourselves in addling brains and warping rational thought processes.

We cannot sack another manager and need some consistency - stay up or go down, lampard stays.

Lampard’s determination might be the only thing that keeps us up. I’ve seen some calling for Allardyce. The players and him would both know it’s short term and it would be horrendous.

I think Lampard genuinely wants to make a success of this. He’s probably in shock at the moment having to deal with getting stabbed in the back by these players most match days but I think he’ll want to root out the cause of the problems.

The players want him to give up, to leave at the end of the season so they can go back to their deck chairs and continue to fleece us for 100k a week. I don’t think he will though. Lampard to keep us up just about (will be horribly tight though) and then the mother of all fire sales to start.

No matter what happens though. These players should never be forgiven for this season. The majority of them have their cards marked permanently in my view now. Cowards and rats who have put Everton on the brink after bleeding us dry for years.

Nonsense

Easy to pat yourself on the back after a loss and say I was right.
You responding to me on the 22nd Jan, before he was even appointed....

Lampard is a laughable shout. Big time charlie who wouldn't care a jot if he got us relegated. He's also achieved nothing in the game, apart from bankrupting Derby and taking Chelsea to mid-table

The idea an elite winner like Lampard wouldn't be arsed about a relegation is the most laughable thing I've ever heard.

WInners win and losers lose. We have a lot of losers at the club but Lampard is a winner. He will ger us playing football and moving in the right direction - of that I have little doubt.

Maybe you didn't catch it the first time...I'll say it again:

HE'S BEEN 6 PL GAMES IN CHARGE.

All told, we've had 8 games under his managership:

3 wins
5 defeats

How on earth do you or anyone else expect him to walk in here and transform it?

This was always going to be about barely hanging onto our PL status - if possible. We all knew that when Benitez was sacked and a new manager was to come in. His remit was to keep Everton up. No matter how that comes about.

We have 12 more games left for him to get us the few points we'll require. Let's judge him then. Or maybe you want another sacking?
Dont be silly. Its 1 win and 5 defeats. The cup doesnt matter. The 2 wins against Brentford (who didnt give a f...k about the cup) and a win against a non-league team (LOL) dont mean anything. Crystal Palace will eat us alive!

When the season is over its not him who needs to , we all know who the dead wood are, and relegated or not they have to go even if it is a mass clear out . If they survive relegation, this shambles of a team won't survive another season.
