2021/22 Frank Lampard

Of course we have to get behind Lampard if he stays at the club. But that doesn't mean that him staying is the best thing for the club. He looks out of his depth and is experimenting far too much and we have nearly run out of games. Winnable games in particular are few and far between
Hes experimenting due to injuries and players letting him down imo. Since he's been here half the first team have been injured for a spell or long term. I think all games are winnable if he can get it sorted. Only City and Liverpool I'd class as unwinnable in this league barring a rare occasion

That's fair enough mate, I just worry about these things especially when a manager is still brand new and the situation is terrifying.

Yeah, it's fair enough that I can share my own opinion, on my own account.

I'll call a spade, a spade - I've often said he comes across well;

Comes across really well.

... But the past couple of interviews I've personally found a few of his comments to be disappointing for the reasons I explained. They're also directory contradictory to what he was saying a few weeks back when he was quick to dismiss what happened before him. Now when Everton lose, he puts the onus and blame on what happened before him.

Well to be fair, the blame does go before him, for several years in fact.

I think he'll be here unless the Iranian nutjob decides otherwise. @davek
No Evertonian will want the manager who took them down to be hanging about. That's harsh on him, but I believe it to be the case. Moshiri may have inserted release clauses in his contract to keep severance costs down in the event the club were relegated and he was sacked.

In any case, I really do believe we have a lot of hope left here and that the mood is too gloomy. We have a big chance of going down. We have an even bigger chance of staying up. That's the way I read it. Maybe that changes after the Thursday game, but until such time I'm envisioning Everton and Lampard in the PL next season.

Yeah, Benitez said the same thing and he was right.

As Lampard said early days, he's got the job because there's problems.

Initially he brushed off relegation talk - after 5 league defeats in 6, he can't do that anymore but in my view, he shouldn't be so quick to point the finger and deflect.

I've shared examples already, here is another before Wolves;

“I don’t want to build up players for no reason. But what I do see – and I’m generalising – is a group of lads who do care. There is no doubt about that. We’re 17th for a reason: before I got here. So we need to understand that I am not painting a pretty picture of a load of lads who care and it’s all going to be fine, I’m painting a picture that I know that they care but, proactively, what are they going to do about it?”

Look how forced that 'before I got here' is. Sure, he never inherited a world class side but he in inherited a side that was 16th in the table, 4 points clear with 18 games to play.

"“It has been a long time the players haven’t won games, it is impossible to change that overnight"
“Myself and the staff came in with the team on a bad run… used to the feeling of losing and not getting points"

That's all well and good, but he's got a better side available to him than Benitez had and his points per game is lower, chances created less and conceded a lot more.

For me, the Everton 11 he had shouldn't be getting battered away at Newcastle, Southampton and Tottenham. It also shouldn't be so passive against Wolves.

All in all, own it and stop crying about what was before you.

Never take a job at a bookies, Dave.

If he gets a start in our games before now and the end of the season we are big big favourites to go down.

Poorly run AND poor now.

There'll be firesales this summer and it wont get better in the next few seasons either.

We are hot favourites to take the drop.

No characters, no leaders, very little talent.

I have to concede that we are hot favourites to go down.

Watford and Burnley have fight in them...even Norwich show more fight.

I cant see a way out of this atm.

Maybe an unlikely bounce back win against Newcastle sparks something, but the club on the field mirrors the club off the pitch and we look like a football club that really has no right operating in the top flight of English football.

We're hot favourites right now to take the drop. I said that after the game. And it's true.

However, this is football and these matters have a habit of not staying the same. Look at Watford a few weeks ago: dead and buried, now in with a chance.

More than likely we'll get clear and survive. That's some admission though after spending half a billion on players.

The only manager doing worse than Frank since the new year has been Bielsa. And he got sacked in pretty brutal fashion by their board despite being loved by Leeds fans. Apart from beating a Leeds team that seemed to be having a collective nervous breakdown as Bielsa lost the plot totally, is there any indication Lampard has it in him to turn things around?

I think what creates the most dismay for me, is I was hoping after the disastrous defeat to Tottenham, Frank would of galvanized the squad to devote an industrious performance. That didn't occur obviously it was just a limp and gutless showing especially in front of the fans. I still support Frank and I know his resources are restricted but he once again opted for the wrong tactics. Wolves are known for playing a midfield two this was the time to play a midfield three and have a chance to overrun them like what usually happens to our midfield.

I think he's unfortunately just constantly getting punished for trying to rectify the mistakes of the previous games.

Allan and Keane were awful against spurs, back to 3-4-3 with them both dropped. Mykolenko getting rinsed at LB, move Kenny to LB and then he gets sent off.
Myko gave a long pass, a long accurate pass to richy ive never ever seen Kenny give. He also stood tall against some challenges and got a lot of praise for beating Podence in a 1-1. He made some mistakes, and perhaps lost confidence as most did around him, but Myko for me, was far from the worst. In fact, Kenny was the one with serial mistakes being CB next to Coleman. Several misses, stupid passes, just a panic and ared card in waiting, wich he got. He also constantly drew Vdb out of position as he had to help out on lb with neves and podence coming there.

So no, i can understand to protect myko and taking him off but replacing him for kenny was another crazy thing by lampard.

Great points well made. The team currently both appears to be AND is factually doing worse than it was before and it has better players available. And it's for that reason exactly why I feel very concerned and don't hold any hope for Thursday and if we lose Thursday then that's game over for us I fear.

Circumstances and results will change that. He cant say the same thing when clearly he is learning more about the personel and lack of...well almost everything. Im not sure why anyone would expect anything else.

Wish he was as good at setting up a team as he was covering his arse.

Newcastle
“I have come to a situation where we have to get better in a lot of things. I’ve come into the club when they were on a run of results that’s left them in the position we’re in. It’s my job to change that but there isn’t a magic wand on that front,”

Southampton
“I know they’re good lads, I know they want to react, but sometimes when you’ve been in a hard run of form away from home – and generally before I got here – it’s easy to seep back into,”

City
“If the table doesn’t look great in a couple of weeks, so be it. It didn’t look great when I came,”

Spurs
“We’re 17th for a reason: before I got here. There’s a clear discrepancy in home and away form, issues that were there before me and don’t take care of themselves overnight. The players understand the gravity of the situation. They understood it before I arrived because they had been on a long run without a win,”

Wolves
“Myself and the staff came in with the team on a bad run, used to the feeling of losing and not getting points,”
Those quotes remind me of his Uncle Harry during his first season at Spurs. After every bad result he’d say ‘when I came in here we had 4 points from 10 games’ or whatever it was. Obviously been getting tips from his uncle about self preservation. Whilst he does have a point that he walked in to massive shitshow, he still has half a season of games to turn things around and keep us up. Yes a lot of the players aren’t good enough but you have to work with what you’ve got. Hopefully he can come up with a way of playing that allows us to string enough results together to stay up, even if he stumbles across it

That's not the point at all though is it?

Not saying deny that were in a relegation scrap. In fact, I think day one he should have called it for what is is and I've said this for a while;

... But Lampard has started to talk up the scale of the problem/how all the problems was before HIM and his staff. It's evasive and unnecessary (apart from self PR/damage limitation)

He's meant to represent a change, not just come in crying about what was before him.

If he wants to cry about what was before him - how about he starts with he's performing worse than Benitez.

He's arse covering and finger pointing and it's not a good look/sign.

Embrace the challenge. Take responsibility. Forget the CV.

Was hoping since lampard was a midfielder himself, he would go strong on packing the midfield, bit disappointed he preserves with 2 wingers and 2 wing backs who aren’t good enough or up to the job. For gods sake he has to make us difficult for opposing team to break us down
