I assume you blamed the cowardly players and not the manager prior to Lampard too?

Baffled by this view.

Mate, if we get relegated it means Lampard will have done worse than Benitez.

Lampard come in with us 16th in the table, 4 points clear with 18 games to play. He also didn't/hasn't had the players missing that Benitez had... (remember the team that went to Chelsea?!)

The 'we can't keep sacking managers' ideology over looking at results is what give Benitez too long.
Jesus wept...

As much as we can blame Benitez for a horrible 6 months, if we go down Lampard is equally to blame. I don't see any way in which people can claim that he isn't tbh.
Lampard will be accountable for about 5% of the blame. We've been run into the ground for years with progressively poor stewardship, recruitment and management for nearly a decade. And people are blaming a manager who's been in post for five minutes with a horrendous squad with zero confidence???

Where's the perspective in all of this??

And it works both ways, if he keeps us up he's not the next Brian Clough either.

I never understood why people fully blamed Benitez. He was awful and needed sacking but it was as if they hadn't watched exactly the same form under Ancelotti.

Now Frank has worse form and people are still blaming Benitez.

Take off the RS hating specs and see it is the players, it was always the players.

I've never hated a squad like this one.

Me, im starting to see another paralel with Newcastle: its owner. Mike Ashley was as ridiculous as Moshiri. The new owners take it a lot, a lot more seriously, or so it appears. How come we did not see Burn as a good and cheap CB for us, for instance? Why spent time and effort on el ghazi and dele when we have plenty of options on those positions? VdB seems the only sensible move but even he is starting to drown in our other mediocre bunch. Im just saying, if Lamaprd fails, it is a product of Moshiris incompetence and stubbornness. Managing a multi million PM club is more than getting a new stadium. Wich, if we go down, will surely be canned and more lost time and effort.

I'm not sure mate. Managers have come into worse teams, in worse positions and kept them up. He won't be wholly accountable, but he took the job under the pretence of knowing that us going down would represent a massive failure on his behalf.

Aside from his obvious charisma and articulate interviews, he's done very little to show that he's the right man to take us forward. Let's hope he gets them together of the international break and distils some confidence and belief into them.

And he still might but I don't think people fully appreciate how bad this squad is. It wasn't great when they had confidence so without it, their lack of ability is amplified.

And when it comes to him doing little to show he's the right man, he's not had enough time to do so and I honestly don't think any manager could show anything with these players. It's like giving a tradesman duff tools and then having murder with him because he's not fixed your roof. He was never going to fix it, because he had one hand tied behind his back and his only tool was an inflatable hammer.

It`s not in his nature to park the bus and anyway, Fatty tried that for two thirds of the season and look how that worked out ???
Parking the bus with a defence of Kenny, Coleman, Keane and Holgate is an oxymoron.

Now this is all hypothetical, but Lampard will have had nigh on 16 games (I think) to grind out results. If he can't do that, he must hold some blame.

Ive read that a few times now. Sorry but with what? We have defenders who couldnt defend before. We have a midfield that lacks almost everything you want. Guile, creativity, goals.
We have a central striker who is never on the pitch. Which means we play someone who isn't suited to playing central.
Take us forward with what exactly?
I dont say this lightly. We're fcking sh!te.

The squad is wretched. We complained about how thin it was under Ancelotti and it’s without doubt worse now this season. Without Digne and Mina our back four is possibly the worst in the PL, our midfield can’t run and we have very little goal threat currently.

Benitez has to take a decent chunk of the blame for selling James and Digne and buying two full backs who aren’t ready to play every week.

it's a poorly run team, and part of it is frank, sure, but i don't think God could save this team from relegation

lol and to think we're building BMD

That sums up Everton in a nutshell.
We're reaping what we've sowed.
