So what did he wring out of the players after Christmas 2nd half of the season?

Ancelotti had the mark of these players that's why he got out as soon as possible.

Benitez thought he could lay down the law but the players saw him off.

Frank will be next if the board aren't strong.

The players and culture are absolute poison. It needs to be burned and the players castrated so they cannot reproduce any footballing offspring.

My belief is that benitez turned a 2 year decline into a 6 month one by completely destroying how our defence operated to what we have now. These same players would have still been as bad but they weren't as bad as they were before benitez took over. Their ability level didn't change but there was a significantly noticeable difference between the defenders last year and this one. So benitez effect knocked them down to their true levels rather than playing to some extent better than they should have been, which is why they weren't completely rock solid last year

Carlo used all his experience of dealing with top quality players to realise how bad this squad was and acted upon it - pragmatic, defensive, compact, help the defence, use quality in certain areas.

Bentiez and Lampard have the belief these players as a team as "good". The minute they think that, they will walk all over them and never take responsibility.

Benitez would destroy anything and everything that was left behind by Carlo to prove he's a "better" manager.

Problem there was, like you say, he wanted them to do things they couldn't do and never changed it

I never understood why people fully blamed Benitez. He was awful and needed sacking but it was as if they hadn't watched exactly the same form under Ancelotti.

Now Frank has worse form and people are still blaming Benitez.

Take off the RS hating specs and see it is the players, it was always the players.

I've never hated a squad like this one.

No one has ever defended the players. It's the implementation with them.

As the spitter said last night, in one season they've gone from a quasi-counter attack, zero possession based team...to one that wants to keep the ball and be on the front foot and they don't know what to do.

Carlo openly admitted, the more defensive we played the better the results. The more open, the worse they were.

Bentiez was never defensive with us and Lampard isn't either. Their egos suggested that they can get these players to play a certain way. They can't.

Personally thought Carlo unlocked that key for the squad on what to do with it. The idea for this season was to add quality.

I will say....Eddie Howe had won 1 in 10 (drawn 4, lost 5) before they went on a 7 game unbeaten streak.

Lamps does need to stop losing games first and foremost. He also has less time to get it right.

They also made some astute buys during the transfer window which have helped them out.

We brought in 5 players and only one of them gets consistent game time and he is only on loan. Poor recruitment will let us down again, they may all end up being good for us, who knows, but we needed players who we could use straight away.

True. Basically a new back line helped massively with Burn, Target, and Trippier.

Midfield has been the same and they added Wood up top.

Fully agree. Cant believe some of the things ive read on here last day or two. Who the hell would take the blame for this lot after a few weeks in the job. I actualy think he's trying to be as balanced as he can.
But the bottom line is its 100% the truth. Its been a minimum of 5 years awful recruitment. Why bother even trying to say something else. Its debated on here day in day out. So why anyone has an issue lampard saying it is beyond me.
