Most fans would have agreed with a decision to leave him out of the coaching team.
Dave,I think at the least Duncan is a neccessary connection with the fans but that if he's not happy with what FRank gives him to do, he'll move on to advance his career,to maybe a lower league team to gain some extended managerial experience. Alternatively, FRank might keep him as a specialist strikers coach, which would suit Duncan. Another question...what happens to Baines when Ashley Cole comes in ? Or has Baines already gone?

Baines was with the U23s until Benitez got sacked and all his coaches with him. He'll be back there. It's not like he was the specialist left back coach.

I know you can’t gather much from a ten minute training video but looked like lots of short sharp passing in tight spaces which is exactly what we’ve been missing, we’ve been awful on the ball
They looked ok at it aswell. The last manager tried to con people all season by saying we don't have player's who can pass the ball when the truth is a passing game goes against all his principles on football.

Little bits ive heard and read. I got the impression lampard is a disciplinarian.

Yeah you're probably right. Disciplinarian is the wrong word.

It's the hands on approach I see as the main difference. He was engaging with the players constantly and encouraging. This is a team low on confidence so making them believe again is arguably the hardest task.

Looks pretty hands on as a manager. I think that's what we need. The days of the old school disciplinarian are almost gone and you tend to need someone who players will run the extra mile for.
Those days are gone alright but good managers still need to have scope for insisting on accountability for poor performance and attitude. How they do it is up to them. Lampard is not long retired and his playing career should get him that respect. With Benitez, you felt it was like a new head teacher full of ideas but nobody liked them or him. There has to be buy-in, Lampard suggested as much already.

Always find this bizarre. The basic requirements of being a professional footballer at any level should be the ability to pass a football and the ability to run with a football at your feet. You don’t make it to the premier league without having basic footballing skills.

But under our last manager and towards the end of Ancelotti’s reign, we set up as deep as possible and chose to lump the ball upfield. Often to our own detriment.

Maybe try coaching the players and getting them used to playing anything other than archaic football.

I'll tell you exactly what DF will do: stay and wait out another manager and then try and get the job by turning caretaker manager role into FT role.

It's all he has in him. We all know that now. That's his only plan.

Not sure its his only plan. He will not want to be known as a passenger. There has always been a few who think that Duncan is still at Everton courtesey of Bill Kenwright, and there could be something in this.Again, Duncan would not want to rely on Bill for a job. Most of our recent strikers, going back at least to Lukaku have had nice things tosay about the help they got from Duncan,so he has something going for him. I don't think Lampard would accept 'The jobs yours as long as you keep Duncan.'

I think that, unless Lampard & Co can whip the defence back into shape again, we're gonna have to rely on a strong attacking strategy to get the goals we need. Gonna be interesting to see how the next few weeks unfold...

Very impressed with the backroom staff for a change, all well regarded coaches with top level experience add Cole who is supposed to be a really good coach as well and we are only going one way.

Lampardc has done exactly the right thing bringing in experience by his side.
Think this is also very important in the grand scheme of things.

In many ways, a manager is only as good as his support network - experienced coaches who know what they're doing. The addition of Clement in particular pleases me a lot.
