Hodgson also laid the foundations for his successor to invest where they wanted with no restrictions and build on a solid platform - the difference when you inherit a shambles and when you inherit something solid is stark
This team that Viera has built has a fair few new faces in it and he’s got a different philosophy to Roy Hodgson.

Spot on.

Fans automatically think because they were amazing players they’re or will become fantastic managers.
Think you have to give more credit to fans than what you are giving. Many many fans know that Bobby Charlton, Bobby Moore, Alan Ball, Roy Keane (and this list can go much much deeper) never had great managerial careers so why would you think fans 'think they will become fantastic managers'. Are you saying all fans except you and Jonny Barton think this?

You stick to watching football and I will manage my 118 staff, you beaut

We conceded the first goal today from a header on the edge of our six yard box.
We had Gordon, Gomes & Kenny all marking the scorer.
Just have a look where our three Centre Halves were when he headed it.
But of course, lets not blame Frank and his entourage of five lap dogs, its the players fault.
What are they actually doing all week in training ?

The point is whether someone was an excellent professional footballer will or will not be a top manager is largely irrelevant. Many have gone on to become very successful football managers and many have gone on to be failures. But anyone claiming that some of the best football managers were not excellent professional footballers is simply untrue.

It was always going to be a difficult ask for any manager to turn it around. However Lampard (tactics) and players are equally responsible for the shocking performances witnessed away from home. In four away games, we’ve conceded 14 goals and only scored one goal (og at Newcastle). I applaud Lampard for calling out the players today. They do like the fight and quality IMO to get out of this relegation battle. I’m hope I’m wrong but I’ve seen little to suggest otherwise.

It was zonal marking. One of the players (Richarlison from memory) moved away from his position and failed on his assignment. It's evident that there aren't many footballing brains amongst our players so perhaps best just going man to man but then that would involve players competing and winning their individual battles...

Thank you Swagger for a balanced opinion.
History shows, there are successful players, who didnt make it as managers, and successful managers who were not successful players.
There are posters on this forum, who thing Frank should be given a free pass as a manager, just because he was a serial winner as a player.

Genuinely, I'm intrigued by annual appraisal time. Do you have to do all of them? How do you not get bored or start laughing when one of the really bad ones suggests objectives way over their head?

I can imagine Lampard has to deal with Keane suggesting he can Marshall the defence and reduce goals conceded 10% year on year.
