is anybody actually doing that mate? Not trying to be a tit, I've just not seen anyone say it is all.

I agree with everything you say I just think we need to see more in-game from Lampard too.

I think the players care they're just crap. Really, really crap and fragile. They're a disgrace.

I just don't see how making a different sub for Townsend would have stopped the players making a hash at a corner, falling a goal down, and then giving up.

Individual errors are killing us because these players will not take responsibility to do their job properly.

Nobody has said he shouldn't call the players out.

What I'm suggesting he should do, as I have for some time now, is stop pointing the fingers and making excuses. Basically, this;
Okay, and I don't disagree with that.

But what I queried was your line that it was "just" deflecting, to call them out... so really only that one word!

I think there is potential value in it, but we won't know for a while.

Drastic situations call for drastic measures. No Everton manager in the last few years have forcefully said what he said. Yes, the professionalism has been questioned at times by one or two along the way, but this is different.

I dont see it as deflection. Deflection is when a manager (as he has on previous occasions in the short while he's been here) state that matters were the same before they arrived. He's gone further than that here. He's questioned their courage not their professional credentials.

It's a gamble, maybe. Maybe it's a battle that wasn't for now. But he's with these players and in a better position to judge how they'll react. He wants effort in back to back matches. That's not something he should be being slated for by fans, that's something we should all be 100% behind.
A manager can do what he wants of he calls them out personally every week for me.

I was happy to have the car crash of murhinho on the sole basis that he trashes our team every presser and names them all every week.

As I said, makes it all the more pointless mate.

Any reaction he hoped for is 2 weeks away. Words have lost their sting by then.

Yeah, the gap isn't ideal.

I suppose it all depends on what happens behind closed doors now.

He had that shot post-match, and he'll have an opportunity in the West Ham pre-match presser to reiterate it if he decides to, but the bulk of the effort for changing mindsets was always going to have to happen behind closed doors at Finch Farm.

I think there's too much emphasis from fans on the players under Frank and not on his awful tactics which don't suit the players we have.

If I was made to do my job and I knew I was being made to do it in a way that doesn't work then I too wouldn't be trying as hard as I would if I was doing it in a way that does work.

When Mina is injured, we must play Branthwaite. Godfrey and Holgate are poor in the air and Keane is not decisive enough. I know it's asking a lot of a kid to come in and be a defensive leader, but, he is the only fit player we currently have with the physical and mental attributes to do this.

I will be surprised if we stay up anyway, so, even if it doesn't work having Branthwaite as first choice, it just may do. What we can say, with a degree of certainty is, picking two from Keane, Holgate and Godfrey does not work.

They still had decent professional football careers. It's not as if they brought the oranges to games like Mourinho. I missed out Cruyff as well.

In terms of the current top 8 managers in world football at least half of them were excellent professional footballers. Pep, Conte, Mancini and Simeone. So to claim excellent professional footballers are unable to become quality managers is utter nonsense.
Wasn't that Zidane bloke quite decent at togger. Unfortunately so was Dalglish.

I'm guessing he's had enough of trying to protect them when the errors he sees are so basic and poor. That obviously hasn't worked so he's calling them out. See if that works. We can't get any worse. But again we lack leadership in all areas for me

I wasn't completely sold on Lampard, it was more support for him in order to swerve Pereira.

He's come into a relegation dogfight, something that he's never experienced before and it shows. Some of his tactics and selections have been shrouded in naivety. He's trying to but square poles in round holes and we're getting battered almost weekly because of it.

He's shown very little signs that he's willing to be pragmatic, but he has to. I was concerned that during his post-match interview he stated that the 'tactics weren't the problem', referring to us being on top for 20mins in the first half.

That said, cannot believe we bought 5 players in January and probably maybe 1 of them get into our starting XI when everyone's fit. Just terrible, terrible recruitment once again.

We need a complete change of tack in our next games.

Play Alli, play El Ghazi. Only press the ball in our own half.

Telling the players to do the same things, only do it better just isn’t working.

This......press when about 35 yds out so we don't expose ourselves too much like when the high press is not collective. As many players behind the ball as poss and have a counter attack plan
