I could see our LB slot being well covered by Nkounkou and Mykolenko for the future. Both are a huge downgrade from Digne, whose transfer a week before Benitez' sacking is a black mark against the management, or lack, of at our club. But Nkounkou at home in games we will be on the front foot and Mykolenko when we are away against the top 6 seems like reasonable coverage. They both might get a chance with a more progressive manager in charge.
Benitez was really bad, never gave young players much of a chance but also got rid of any senior pro he saw as a challenge to his authority. Left us with mediocrity on the pitch and no passion.

Over the next 18months we will see an upward trajectory from our full backs...while Digne seemed to be on a downward one.

On the plus side, the standard of catering in the club canteen is at an all-time high!

I think bringing Paul Clement with him was a good move. Well respected coach, highly regarded by many.
Just Lampard surrounding himself with experience on the coaching staff will greatly assist him in settling in to the role. However miracles won’t happen overnight. We need to be patient but at the same time results need to improve and quickly. We need some luck on the injury front so Lampard and his staff can get the message across on the training pitch for progress to be made in the pitch. One things for certain the club seems a happier place with him at the helm.

I've got nothing against Baines as a coach. As a player he was a poor defender and he was disloyal to his manager and his own team mates when they were playing a game he was punditing on. That was outrageous...as was his running to the local hacks to tell tales behind the manager's back. Unforgivable.

Rather have him though if he's a good coach. Promote him. If Ferguson ever shifts himself promote Baines.

Widely regarded as 1 of the Premier League eras best Left Backs.

A hero to Everton fans everywhere, I said Everton fans, not fans willing to sell their soul to a kopite.
That's not because he was a good defender.

My main memory of him as a defender was turning his back on a speculative shot on the edge of the box in the LC SF at the Etihad when we were 3-1 up in the tie and the ball looping up off him and going over Robles into the net. If we'd have reached HT 3-1 up we'd have won that SF.

Baines was a very poor defender. An adapted winger, that's all. Never ever saw him get close to a winger swingin in crosses.

As I say Dave, you have no idea how Everton fans view him.
